DDA Chapter 22

Does anyone else refuse to buy colorful pants for their kids (girls)? Terra and I were in disagreements over a pair of pink pants at Children's Place. First of all, I just don't like colorful pants that much, but mainly I don't like how hard they are to match with tops. Especially for a limited budget, I insisted that we need to get just jeans, khakis or black pants. She told me that she likes to be mismatched because it's fun and creative. I argued that she could mismatch with her socks (she likes to wear two different ones) and be creative with her shirt choices. She wasn't happy, especially since I also wouldn't get the shirt she really liked too as if fit terribly. I have promised we will got to the consignment shop and if we can find colorful pants really cheap, then maybe. We're also going to go look for fun shirts and colorful socks this weekend. In the end, we managed to get out of the store without too many tears, but it was definitely our first (of many, I'm afraid) clash of wills over clothing. Maybe if it weren't for the limited budget, not to mention space for our clothes at this time, it wouldn't have mattered, but who knows.
I'm all about fun and creativity, but when it comes to clothes, I taught Alyssa as soon as she started dressing herself how to match clothes. Now she knows that you don't wear stripes with flowers, and that whatever color is in one piece, it needs to match with another. I try to give her a variety of stuff to choose from. Either her top or bottom has some sort of pattern to it, and then she will match it with a solid. I don't like a solid pant with a solid shirt. Unless, of course, it is jeans or khakis. And yes, it is harder now that they are getting older. I can't just go buy for her, because she is definitely getting her own taste!

Janet - good luck with the dining options!

Heidi - sorry, I'm no good at meal planning.

Elizabeth - safe travels. See you soon!

Deb - sorry about all the problems today.

Thanks everyone! I took a nice hot shower after I left the computer and that helped a lot. Within the hour the pain was gone. :woohoo:

We hit two banks for my dad (okay, that sounds bad :rolleyes1 ) and then grabbed some Sonic for lunch since Terra had a free coupon. We went to the library and picked up way too many books - I hate when a bunch of my holds come through at the same time. After that, it was bargain shopping at Children's Place. Two pairs of jeans, a few extra things and 25% off. Now, if only the knees will not wear out of these jeans before next summer.

If you buy pants at Sears and keep the receipt they will replace them with the same size for free if the knees rip out. Same for Sneakers. I believe that LL Bean does that too.

I love bright colored pants. I have pink, red, cranberry etc. It is much more fun then all blue, black and grey. I always pick them up on clearance and find multicolor or patterned tops on sale to go with them.

As my day turns. Chris' boss has cancelled the BBQ for tomorrow as quite a few people can't make it. Then off to work where it was super busy, but I was hostess so not a good money night for me.

So I've decided to take the boys to Santa's Village tomorrow since it's supposed to be a beautiful day. Hopefully that plan will work out.

Thanks, Tammi!

How was your day in the big city?
It was nice, a lot of walking. We took the train to Union Station, then went to the Law Enforcement Memorial and to Ford's Theater. The Theater recently reopened, and I think they did a great job. The kids got a great history lesson. After that we grabbed a bite to eat and headed to the Jefferson Memorial. The skies were looking very ominous at that point so we skipped Lincoln and went into the American History Museum for the rest of the day. We left here at 7:30 AM and returned exactly 12 hours later. I posted a few pictures on FB.

Nicholas is now sleeping over at a friend's house, and Alyssa just finished watching Black Beauty. I think it's time to curl up and pass out.

I have always let my girls pick their clothes out....and they have always looked cute....our rule is mom have final say on the way out the door for length and fit!!

Pink pants would look so cute with so many different colors.

Cassidy just saw me typing this response and said "Pink pants, I want pink pants" :rotfl:

Bob and I are leaving here in the a.m. and will drive up through Gettysburg, stopping there for a bit. We plan to get to Camp Hill in tie to check in, check things out and go to dinner with you all, go to the Meet Before the Meet and also to the Karaoke night where WE WILL NOT BE SINGING. There is a very good chance Bob will not do that at all!

I am getting so very excited and so is Stephanie. :woohoo:
