DDA Chapter 22

Did you have to pay for this? I don't blame the boys for being disappointed. And I would be very upset with the outcome too.

No, the leadership program was paid for by a local hospital. It was to give kids leadership skills and information to help them make good life decisions specifically in regards to cigaretts, alcohol and drugs. We are seeing now that today was billed as an adventure, but was really a continuation of their agenda. The boys were looking so forward to a fun day with peers, not to more classroom time  I'm sure if we had been asked to pay, there would have been more planning, many more details and no hidden agendas. It also seems that the program has changed over the years, this is the 7th year. Some of the parents have had older kids do it and they found it to be fun. My kids found none of it fun, just a lot of facts driven down their throats.

Deb - How disappointing for Nick and Hunter. I'm sorry that they program didn't work out for them, but I'm glad you found out what today was before they went expecting more.

Elizabeth - Have a great trip!!

Maybe a note to the hospital that funded it is in order. I am sorry the boys did not have fun. :(

Elizabeth I was going to reply on your TR thread, but it is saying completed :confused3

Anyway I am very excited for you & sad at the same time as I wish we were able to be there with the rest of you.

Have a wonderful time as I know you will :goodvibes

We will miss you guys this year!
I am off to e-mail the mod to ask her to please NOT close my PTR!
You know what? Never mind. I will just start a thread on the Trip Report board and add that link to my signature.

Deb sorry the day was a disappointment for the boys. Does not sound like this was planned out very well!

I'm sorry the last day turned out to be a bust. :sad2:

Elizabeth - I got ready to post something on your PTR and it has been moved to the completed section and I can't post. :(

:wave2: Hi, Beth!

Whoever that mod is, she is very interested in moving my PTR. She had already moved it once and I asked her to put it back. I started a regular trip report, so hopefully she will leave that alone until I am actually finished!

Good morning, DDA!

Not much happenings around here (for once). We might head to the mall with our new Children's Place coupon to look for Terra some jeans. Hopefully, but switching back to their jeans the knees will last through at least one season. :upsidedow Otherwise, a trip to the library and some laundry and we're done. Not a bad deal since my head is killing me. I let Terra switch spots and pillows with me last night thinking I could handle one night, but nope! I did switch the pillows back in the middle of the night, but it was too late. :headache: Hopefully my neck will relax back out and everything will clear up soon, though.

Hope everyone has a great Friday!

The boys are hoping to talk Chris into taking them to the movies tonight. They are still pretty bummed out about today. I will be working of course.

My exciting day included a pack of gum going through the washer with a full load of clothes :headache: Somehow the gum missed everyone else's clothes and adhered to mine:mad: I used olive oil and managed to get it off of my lifeguard shorts and another pair of shorts, but my lifeguard t-shirt and and old Disney sweatshirt have far too many spots to even consider trying to remove the gum. Those are now in the trash. I knew this was going to be a wonky day, it is just even wonkier than expected.

Tia - I hope your neck is doing better now.

Deb - This is one of those days you wish you could just go back to bed. I'm sorry.

Tia I hope you are feeling better :wizard:

Are you EXCITED Elizabeth

I need help deciding something. I received a pin code a while back for the free dining, this is with one TS, one CS, & a snack no matter which resort you stay at. The new free dining package that came out offers only the CS dining when booking a value(which is where we would stay should we go).

I know the pin code is a better deal but I am not certain if I want to mess with sit down meals & setting aside extra for gratuities. There are plenty of CS places to choose from with a nice variety.

So what would you do?

Tia, I hope you managed to stretch the kink out of your neck!

Deb, :headache: gum is bad. Very, very bad. I'm sorry that happened!

I have been very jittery all day. Not sure what makes this trip different, but I feel nervous. I AM excited, but jittery, too.

So what would you do?

I would call and check availability for the dates you want with each code. That may help you narrow it down since things may be starting to fill up and the codes may be selling out. I am all about TS meals, but having to tip separately is a pain.

Janet we did the CS DP in Feb. and have decided that is the way for us from now on. We hate having to make ADRs because we don't like being tied to a certain time to eat, so if we want a TS we do lunch and pay OOP.
I only made 1 ADR in Feb. we canceled it, and did a walk up a day later.

Now I understand that with free dinning that would be darn near impossible, so I will make a lunch ADR for Tony's and John loves the Rainforest Cafe, but they do not accept the DP, plus we have never had a problem doing walk up there no matter how busy.

Garrett said he does not want to eat sit down every night, I haven't talked to Riley yet. I am still on the fence, what to do, what to do lol

Thanks everyone! I took a nice hot shower after I left the computer and that helped a lot. Within the hour the pain was gone. :woohoo:

We hit two banks for my dad (okay, that sounds bad :rolleyes1 ) and then grabbed some Sonic for lunch since Terra had a free coupon. We went to the library and picked up way too many books - I hate when a bunch of my holds come through at the same time. After that, it was bargain shopping at Children's Place. Two pairs of jeans, a few extra things and 25% off. Now, if only the knees will not wear out of these jeans before next summer.

Thanks Heidi, I think this is what I am leaning towards. I can make a couple of ADR's for the boys favorite sit down & pay OOP for them.

Janet - Sounds like CS might be the way to go. Use one or two for breakfasts and pay OOP for a couple of TS perhaps. Otherwise, just go for the convenience of CS and work through a few of the newer/different options for your variety.

Does anyone else refuse to buy colorful pants for their kids (girls)? Terra and I were in disagreements over a pair of pink pants at Children's Place. First of all, I just don't like colorful pants that much, but mainly I don't like how hard they are to match with tops. Especially for a limited budget, I insisted that we need to get just jeans, khakis or black pants. She told me that she likes to be mismatched because it's fun and creative. I argued that she could mismatch with her socks (she likes to wear two different ones) and be creative with her shirt choices. She wasn't happy, especially since I also wouldn't get the shirt she really liked too as if fit terribly. I have promised we will got to the consignment shop and if we can find colorful pants really cheap, then maybe. We're also going to go look for fun shirts and colorful socks this weekend. In the end, we managed to get out of the store without too many tears, but it was definitely our first (of many, I'm afraid) clash of wills over clothing. Maybe if it weren't for the limited budget, not to mention space for our clothes at this time, it wouldn't have mattered, but who knows.

Need some food ideas please.

Child's birthday party (Aug. 15) about 30 people mostly adults. My cousin just had emergency surgery (a cyst burst) and the doctor told her its going to be a long recovery.

Not sure if they are grilling or a couple of 3' subs from Subway.

::yes:: because they just had a quick news cast and 2 banks were robbed just hours apart. Not sure if local or Philly.
We hit two banks for my dad (okay, that sounds bad :rolleyes1)
