Tammi - I enjoyed your update this morning. :goodvibes
My favorite photos are of the kids on BTMR... check out the dude behind them with the shades :cool2: :rotfl2:

I am so not looking forward to school starting up again. I do not feel like we even had a summer & I feel bad that we really did not get to do anything. At least Garrett got away for a couple of weeks with his friend.

I really hate the whole getting up early in the morning routine & hounding the boys to get up & get ready. It really is not pretty :rolleyes1

I do not wish them to grow up quickly but I do wish for the school part to be done with!

We are going to have to have a do over for Rileys 13th. He did not feel up to doing much yesterday & decided to only have one friend stay over. I did take him out shopping, he bought clothes with the money that he received.

Poor little guy did not have a memorable birthday :guilty:

when I say city bus...it's not the city of Chicago...it only runs through the city of park ridge. It runs down several streets, through uptown, drops and the train station, continues to pick up more kids and then drops at the high school. It's an odd set up...but has been this way since I was a kid.

there is a similar set up within metro Denver with the RTD (our transit system) because a) buses to the High Schools run weird and don't start picking up kids until they are a mile and a half out and only a limited run and b) there is a lot of kids who don't go to their "home" school

That doesn't sound too bad!

That's exactly how I feel! I do not want to have to get up early, pack lunch, HOUND DS to get ready. At least for the first month I am not working in the mornings. Until the baby comes my day will start at 11:45 when I pick Princess up from school. Unfortunately when I have to go to work at 8 AM again I will be completely out of that groove!

Cassidy seems to have an end of summer cold and her allergies are kicking up so we will be putting off Water World for another weekend. :guilty:

It is tax free weekend here, so we just went to the regular grocery store yesterday. Target would have been too much of a zoo! DS wants to buy some kind of toy, but I think he may have to wait until next weekend!

It will be interesting to see how early they go to sleep tonight. I can tell them to go to bed, but I can't make them fall asleep. The 1st week back is going to be total chaos.

Sorry to hear this Theresa, hope Cassidy feels better soon :wizard:

We never have that here :headache:

They do not offer school buses to this high school. The NEVER have.

No buses in your area or they just do not offer buses period?

We have buses but for those living in town they are not plentiful. I drove Garrett back & forth last year but I was able to get him on a school bus this year. Granted the pick up is 2-3 blocks away, but that is much closer than it would be to walk to the HS. He is not real happy about it but that is life I guess.

I told him if it is real nasty out I will give him a ride to the bus stop, I am not a total witch :rotfl:

Good morning DDA.:goodvibes

Tammi, I'm really enjoying your trip report. Is that a new 3:00 parade at the MK? It looks fun.

Well, I'm finished laundry.:laundy: Watched Meet the Press. Caught up with FB and here. Cleaned out my refriderator and now see we have zero food.

And wiped off my shelf where I keep my coffee (which I need to purchase) and knocked my Mickey pepper shaker off the shelf. It hit my tile floor and shattered. All over the kitchen. The dining room, the foyer, the pantry. I have had this set for a long time, and I know they don't make them anymore. Plus, it was a gift from a friend. I am heartbroken.:sad1::sad1:

I know I can pick up a new set while I'm at the World, probably at the Contemporary, but I need to have a small pity party. Okay. I'm done now.:flower3:

I also called MS and found out I hadn't added the ddp to my reservation. So that's taken care of. I'm off to hit the shower, wash my hair and go to the grocery store and the outlet store for a new pair of jeans and some bras. Have a fun Sunday!:dance3::dance3::dance3:

Wow!

You know I always think of the kids that do not have buses available & their parents can't take them for whatever reason. I feel so bad seeing them walking in the winter. Our school systems really suck, IMO anyway.

well, there is a bus...just not a yellow school bus. the student's get a reduced fare card. so it's .85 per ride.

See I still don't think that is right either. Our laws are so big on this "No child left behind"(which I won't even go into what I think about that)but yet they can't/won't even offer transportation to them without a cost?

We are told our children have to go to school, but getting there is your problem. Just makes me roll my eyes to the back of my head :sad2:

Ok I will stop the ranting.

I don't disagree with you per se. But once you have paid $562.50 for books for this high school...riding the bus for .85 doesn't really phase you. This community is of a different mind set. Sometimes, yes, it drives me crazy.

Good rainy morning! What a difference a day makes! Yesterday we had a high of 107 and today we're supposed to only make it to 85! It's raining cats and dogs, which is kind of nice, right now!

Guess we'll just have a lazy family day here at the house.

I hope that all of you starting school tomorrow have a great beginning. We are still working on getting our kids into a routine, but we're getting there.

Tammi - I'm so loving your TR. How I wish we had a trip planned, but things with our finances are really crappy right now. We just keep telling ourselves that at least Alan still has a job, which is very fortunate!

Have a great day, everyone!

Hi, DDA!

Happy birthday to all the DDA kiddos - Riley, Laura, Brandon, and anyone else that might have slipped my mind. :goodvibes

Good luck to all those heading back to school tomorrow! Some of these stories of crazy supply lists scare me :scared1: - I can only imagine what things will be like in 5 or 6 more years. I can't believe it's time for school again!

Tammi - I am loving your pics and TR! Thanks for also giving your thoughts on BLT - were you guys in a studio or a 1BR? We really enjoyed our stay at the CR in May (it certainly helped that they upgraded us to the tower), but I don't know how I feel about the BLT rooms and the majority of the services all being over at the CR. The Concourse was often crowded enough at meal times without a whole other building full of people trying to access things!

Janet - I hope you and Riley continue to mend!

Elizabeth - loved the rest of your TR. C has such a great smile. :) I hope the start of school isn't too painful for you guys - is MomBoss off of work at this point, or are they just taking Princess to school each morning? When is she due again?

Bernadette - I would love to see your pics if you'd send me links to them! If you need my e-mail address, just let me know. It hasn't changed since the beginning of the DDA lists - just use the Hotmail one.

Anne Marie - I'm glad the kids like their schools! That has to be a relief. :) I'd love to see your pics too - let me know if you need my e-mail address.

Marci - yay for an anniversary trip! Definitely make sure you take time to enjoy the F&WF - maybe even a Party of the Senses if you guys are into that! It was really fun a few years ago when I went with Elin and her daughters. :goodvibes I would definitely also recommend the Segway tour - so much fun!

Debbie - great job on the cake for Brandon - WOW!!!!

Robyn - hope things continue to improve for your family, and your niece and nephew.:hug:

Stephanie - enjoy your trip in just a couple of weeks!

Becky - hope the shower turns out well!

Tia - enjoy your early trip planning!

Elin - I hope you're enjoying your time with Kathrin!

Amy - thanks for posting the pot roast recipe for me! :goodvibes

Hi to anyone else I inadvertently missed! :flower3:
