Hi, everyone! Quick check in so no one thinks I've gone missing. Life continues crazy around here!

School starts on the 20th of August, so we are in full back to school mode. I took Jacob shopping this morning, and will take Leslie tomorrow, Mary on Thursday and Katie on Friday and then we should have all the clothes we will need. I can't even begin to pick up supplies until after the 17th, so I'm just trying to stock up on the things I know we will need (pencils, crayons, erasers, etc.). We go to a bbq at my sister's house on Thursday night, then a cousins reunion on Friday night. Saturday, I'm dragging Alan to see "Julie and Julia" come heck or high water! Sunday is our day of rest (well, actually, it will be the day we hook up our tent/trailer), and then on Monday early we head out for a week at Flaming Gorge. This is Alan's family reunion. We are really excited about it. I'm even more excited since I found out my MIL is not coming!!!! I know that's horrible of me, but I just can't stomach being around her for a whole week. It's straining things to be polite to her for more than an hour! We'll come home from that trip on Saturday morning, and then be ready to start school the following Thursday!

Where did my summer go???? I'm really looking forward to school starting, and being able to just relax for a while! Of course, then I'll have to start getting ready for Christmas, etc.

Theresa - I'm so glad you are having a great time with your mom! Congrats on the new camera!

Lindsay - A BOY!!!! THAT'S GREAT!!! Take care of yourself. Bed rest is not so bad. I was on bed rest in the hospital for 2 and a half weeks before the twins were born. You can handle this!!! Let Jonathan take care of you and before you know it, Austin will be in your arms, and you can enjoy motherhood!

Deb - Has Nick read the Percy Jackson and the Olympian series??? Katie and I have read our way through them this summer and we've really enjoyed them. He might like them, as they are very exciting, but not difficult to read. Katie and I were able to read a book in about a day and a half.

I know that I've missed a whole lot, but you guys are always in my thoughts and prayers. I know that if something big were to happen, Theresa would call me, so I'm pretty sure that most of you are doing ok.

Love to you all!

Glynis thanks for the recommendation, but he has a specific list he has to choose from. Hopefully he will find something he likes. I hope life slows down soon, it seems a bit too busy for me.

I hate lists like that! I hope there's something on the list that he would like.

I hear you on the busy stuff. How's all the jobs going? I feel really out of the loop. I know I've missed a ton of stuff going on here, and I feel so badly about it. Real life came on with a bang this summer. I need a vacation from my summer vacation!

The jobs are going fine. I'm keeping pretty busy, but still have time to do fun things with the kids. Nick did find a couple of books on his list and Hunter bought one in a series that he's been reading. We also bought a new backpack and other supplies for school. I ended up spending $120 and that was only part of the list. Thankfully I've picked up everything else cheaply, but gheesh these lists get more expensive each year.

No kidding! What happened to the "free" education our kids were supposed to get?

I have to take Katie to the Jr. High on Thursday morning to purchase her gym clothes. You'd think she could just wear shorts and a T-shirt, but no! It has to be the ones they sell at the school. Then, all her teachers want her to have a 3-ring binder for each separate class. However, we can't buy them now, we have to wait until the teacher tells us what COLOR binder to buy. If the kids don't have the right color the grade is docked! What is that all about?????

Luckily, the other kids don't need much more than a pack of pencils, erasers, and crayons/colored pencils. We still have dry erase markers from last years lists, so I'm not buying any more of those!

I'm severely stressed about these school lists this year!

Nick needs off the top of my head:

2 three ring binders
6 vertical folders (plastic not paper)
tab folders for the binder
3 subject notebook
dry erase markers
pencils
erasers
blue and black pens
green and red pen
4 gb USB drive
pencil case
backpack
1 subject notebooks
calculator

I'm sure there was more, but that's what I remember at the moment

I have not seen this on a school list before!

Jeesh when I went to school all we needed was pencil & paper :rotfl:

Ours are about that....other than we have a lesser USB drive to get and a specific calculator to get....but I am not getting anything but basics until they tell us exactly what is needed.

I'm pretty sure that Katie will need the computer flash drive as well. She is in an advanced English/History class, and they do a lot of work on the school computers, put the work on the flash drive and hand that in to the teacher.

It was a lot easier back in the day, huh, Janet?

the falsh drive makes it so much easier for the girls to do Power Point presentations and other reports here at home and then just turn it in via the flash drive or print at school. Or in their cases, do edits...I remember having to type out my paper multiple times with the editing process...I am thinking they have it easy:lmao:

I am glad more people were on this afternoon!!

Glynis-I think I will try and call you tomorrow....been too long!!

I am exhausted....hopefully I can actually sleep tonight. I need to figure out if I can fix my computer (the drivers have not been working for a long time) so I can start posting pictures from my new camera. I ended up with 3 4GB memory cards so lots of pictures will be in my future:love:

Wow... we are not posting much! :(

Theresa, which camera did you get? I can't wait to see your pictures!

The flash drive has been invaluable for getting certain types of work back and forth. My kids aren't required to have one, but it sure has come in handy!
