Joe wrote me a birthday acrostic poem (I had to ask him what that was). It makes me even more excited for our trip!

He could have picked a better line for "R":rotfl2:

Happy Birthday
At spring time
Pools at Disney
Pools are cool
You're in Disney for your birthday

Birthdays are great
I love you
Right you're 48
This is so fun
How happy are you
Dashing to the birthday race finish line
At May it's your birthday
You're in DIsney for your birthday

Very cool poem!!

I agree. We were going to go to six flags on Sat to celebrate my birthday. that is out. not sure what i want to do now.

I was thinking of renting some movies. I bought hotel for dogs this morning so I know we will watch that. Any other family friendly movies you guys can suggest. Thinking about bride wars?

I am going to watch Bride Wars today so I'll give you a review later.

I think I'm closing in on a breakdown. Between working day and night or working then having Lacrosse which ties up 3 hours on my days off, then having to do wood on my one day off, plus the fact that no one does a thing around the house without me, and the kids can't seem to be nice to one another and I only see Chris in passing, and the whole Colby thing I'm feeling like I'm just need to sit down and cry :sad1: I was hoping that my family would give me support in helping figure out Colby's issues and finding a solution, but they insist that he doesn't have any problems other than he's lazy  So I suppose the fact that he's been in speech for over a year with little progress and the fact that the teacher notices something is just that I have an incredibly smart boy that can manipulate us and the teachers. All I can say is un-frickin-believeable.

Okay, enough of a vent, now back to our happy little home.
:hug::hug::hug::hug:

I now know truly how my mom felt when I was growing up....and how you do now because I am going through many of the same emotions and have for quiet awhile now.
That is exactly what the CDC is saying. My "inside link" is in almost everyday and he has heard nothing positive from his son. He won't be in tomorrow as his wife has radiation. The CDC is expecting this to be widespread and they have no doubts that we will see more deaths.

I figured there would be the worse before it gets better....poor people who are suffering because of it.
He does seem like a "keeper" ;)

but she's too young for a "keeper":rotfl:

His parents are very strange I've decided....they are moving to Greeley (about an hour/hour and half away) by the beginning of June. Leaving Josh to his own devices.

Josh is looking to go into the Marines and into the band......but seriously who doesn't make sure the kid (even if he is a foster kid) isn't just hanging?

ALYSSA!

this one is awesome!!

Happy Birthday, Alyssa!!! Hope your day is as sweet as you!

Gary had his appointment with the urologist yesterday. He brought home a container to collect his urine in for 24 hours, he has to take it to the hospital lab today. He has another appointment Monday where the Dr. will use the scope(thankfully he will get numbed!)to look at his bladder. The Dr. is concerned about the amount of blood in his urine, he said the cysts on his kidneys should not be causing that. He thinks it might be the walls of his bladder are deteriorating. But his is not positive on that, so hopefully Monday we will have a better idea of what is going on.

It is very gloomy & raining out today. Does not help with the mood much. I feel like I still have the winter blahs, so it needs to start acting like Spring soon!

:hug::hug:Poor Gary. I hope they(and you) get the answers soon!

Last night was Abi's performance in the melodrama....The Perils of Priscilla. Oh man, it was funny:rotfl:because it was so bad. After listening to the little bit of singing they had in it I can see why the teacher changed it to a melodrama:rotfl2:They really needed somebody holding up cards to instruct the audience on how to react when the "actors" came out.

Josh came over for supper beforehand (beef stroganoff)and I made pudding...I forgot how much I like putting red grapes in chocolate pudding and eating them:lovestruc

After the play (which was blissfully short) we took the kids to get Slurpees.

So while not as fancy as Elin's lovely dinner....giggles were had by all.

If the powers that be are that concerned about a pandemic, they need to shut down all international travel. Not simply these kneejerk reactions.

I so agree with this!

Well that is sad

Deb, My heart goes out to you. I swear we mothers know best and no one is willing to admit we know the best course of action.

Both Howie and Steven had problems in 3rd grade. I knew it was best to keep them back. We made sure that for Howie, he went to a different elementary school because the teacher he would have had was the same one and she was so very mean and picked on him while he was having trouble with his Asthma. With Steven, we knew he needed to get on track and do that grade again. Now, Howie is a teacher and has his future all mapped out. Who knew the kid who drew in the margins of all of his work would be so very fantastic in graphic design and photography. Steven is smart, but he still needs to get a grip on life and work hard and put his money aside smartly. I was thankfully able to have Hal on my side because he was seeing himself all over again with both boys and knew he had to be there to make sure they kept up with their school work. Yes the next few years were still hard but we both knew we had to keep on top of things.

All I can say is keep to your guns and know you have the rest of us to fall back on if you need to. I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I would be in the corner crying because I was fighting and no one was listening. Then Hal would be there and we were fighting the only way we knew to help our kids do well in school.

When I was turning 40, Howie had graduated from high school. That was when I was working three jobs at about 80 hours a week for almost two years. I finally lost it when Howie was heartbroken because his girlfriend had just broken up with him. we wanted the best for him and he was denied entrance into the Pa School of Art and Design because they looked at Hal's credit report instead of Howie's . he waited a year and then went to a two year school which ended out to be the best thing for him. Guenna went there as well for Fashion Merchandising and it was the best for her too. Sometimes things work out for all but in a different direction.

Just keep to your guns and know in your heart that you know best.

Thanks for sharing. I appreciate the advice. I certainly will stick to my guns and I'm sure the teacher and school in general is aware of that.

Alyssa!!

I hope she has had a really good day.

While I haven't seen any "official" statements, I've heard of multiple cases of swine flu in our area. The friend of one of my coworker's daughter's came back from Mexico last week and he is sick and quarantined. There is also a family at my sons' school that were on vacation in Mexico last week and the kids were not at school today :sad2: Also, the local college, Dartmouth, had a group of kids that were studying in Mexico and that just flew back. According to the news, Dartmouth is not allowing them back on campus which means that they are being housed somewhere in the upper valley. I assume they are quarantining them in case they develop symptoms. It's only a matter of time now, we will all know people that have it.

I am so happy that we are not travelling soon as I would cancel my trip. There is just far too many chances for catching it at any public place, and even more so on planes.

ETA: I just heard more about the family from our school. No one is sure whether they are sick or not, but they have self quanantined themselves. The entire family is staying at their home to make sure that they are not sick and that they do not accidentally transmit the virus. I think that is a wonderful thing that they are doing.

My PIN code is 4 days/4 nights in a value with base tickets for $377/adult from 10/2/09-11/24/09. "That's a savings of $94!"

Doesn't seem like the best deal that I've seen. It is strange that I am suddenly getting PIN codes after years and years of not getting them.

Way cool!! and now I feel short shrifted....I think I got to go to a brunch after my First Communion.:lmao:
Oh don't be, I didn't even make my communion until I was 23...apparantly no one thought it was important enough to do for me when I was a kid.

As a matter of fact, we are. ;)
Well enjoy!!! we stopped there on our way back from NC a few weeks ago.

I think that business is lacking and this latest virus will certainly not help. Too drum up business they are offering all kinds of offers.

Did yours come with a gift card($200 for deluxe & $100 for value)?

Mine didn't, but I am reading where others did. Must be different ones being sent out.
