DDA Chapter 19

So as you all know I am thinking of going end of may/first of June next year.
A couple of questions.
1) should we avoid the star wars weekends at HS Couldn't tell you. :confused3
2) is the flower and garden fest just at Epcot? Yes.
3) should we try to attend it. I would say yes. It's beautiful, and Minnie has a butterfly garden that the girls would really like.
4) I think we are going to try 50's prime time this trip. Would you all recommend lunch or dinner. Both menus look good. Their are a couple of things on the dinner that are not on lunch. I've only eaten dinner here.
5) should we try a water park with a 2 1/2 yr old? If so which one? We held off on the water parks until Alyssa was 5. I think your girls would get just as much excitement from the resort pool.
6) which minature golf course do you all like? Haven't been yet.

Well, I haven't been posting much lately. Been in a bit of a funk. I wasn't sure why until I looked at the calendar. Today is my mom's birthday. She would have been 77 years old today.

Apparently, my husband is more on top of things than I usually give him credit for. He called me a few minutes ago to let me know that he and I are going out to celebrate my mom's birthday. He's taking me out to dinner. What a guy, huh?

So, I guess mom's birthday is the reason I'm feeling a bit blue. I know I'll get over it, but this first one is especially hard. Maybe I'll have Alan pick up a pizza for the kids on his way home, so they can celebrate, too.
 Alan is a keeper!

According to one source, the loss since they dropped the characters was close to $250,000.
I've never been at all-the food doesn't sound that great to me-well doesn't sound like something I want to eat in FL. I'm not surprised the bookings are down. The lunch menu actually looks good to me but I've never tried it.

That's a good idea! Like I said, the job is only a handful of hours a week, but I can also pick up some in-store shifts during the holidays if I want to. I figured out that I would be able to pay for most of a trip for Terra's birthday with just this income and what I've been setting aside from the MOPS job (three days a month). If I add the discount amount to it too, that should cover most of the rest and put me on good footing for Feb. Thanks for the idea!
Glad to help out with Disney math!:thumbsup2

Look what mom sent from her Europe trip!

Beautiful!

My one and only photo from the race taken by their photographers.

I think my one camera is totally dead, as it does not turn on anymore. That happened the 2nd to last day while at the MK. I was taking pictures, turned it off and it would not turn back on anymore. The other one kept having messages telling me to make sure the doors are all totally closed before using it. I suspect the waterproof seals may need to be replaced.
Love your photos! Really love the one from the top of Splash! Sorry to hear about your camera. Was it your Sony? My seemed to die right at the 10,000 photo mark but you've probably taken more than that with yours. Maybe you should get a dSLR. There are some good buys on the Nikon (D40/D60/D80) now that the D90 is out.

Sorry to hear about your problems with the room. Unbelievable! Hope you get some resolution from your letter!

Hope your Dad continues to improve. My MIL just came home from the hospital Friday. She had the flu then got a cold and just wasn't getting better. She went to the hospital a couple of times and once they gave her IV fluids and sent her home, next they kept her one night then on the 3rd try they found pneumonia so they admitted her and then she got really sick on the antibiotic. She'll be 90 in September so it was scary.

She looks like she's not so sure about Minnie,

So cute!

You are absolutely right. As good as Disney is at most things, the IT division is pitiful! That is scary!

We ate in Mexico this trip because it's one of few that we have left to try (and we feel like we should try them all :)) ... it sucked. So tight, mediocre service, and awful food. I LOVE Mexican food - "real" and "Americanized", "good" and "cheap" (I could eat at TB every week :rotfl:). What we had, after finally choosing something from very limited options, was just plain gross. I was very disappointed :(
Have to agree on Disney's IT!:headache:

I talked to Joe about Mexico and he has agreed to just do CS Mexico that day. Now I have to look at my Color Coded Matrix of Fun to see if we should add another TS meal or just use that extra point for CP breakfast we were going to do OOP.

Can you believe that the CM took one with all 3 of our cameras, and we were all looking (and smiling, and eyes open, etc) in all of them!? What are the odds?! :rotfl:
Must be some sort of Disney miracle!

I'll see about getting a picture of them or seeing if I can find them online somewhere. They really are nice.

This is the set that we got.

Those are cool!

I'm going to WDW in TWENTY WEEKS!
:woohoo: How exciting! I'm about 48 days out. I called today to add DDP and hoppers to our tickets. I don't have TiW anymore and paying $10.99/day for Joe makes it work for us. I figured I might as well pay off the package too rather than forget to call before Wednesday.

Today is the 22cd anniversary of our very first date :cool1:

I have been wogging (walk-jog) the track the last two weeks. I am pleased with myself that I can actually jog. I haven't done that in years! If I keep this up, I might consider a Disney marathon next year. Something to work up to and consider at least!
WOW! You can do it!

Good for you, Tom! I need to get back on track too, but I am just not finding my motivation right now. Not sure why, but I really want to get back in better shape and take off some more weight. I just have to figure out why it is so much tougher this time!
I could have written those exact same words! I did buy a Keurig coffee maker at BJ's yesterday. I hoping this will help me get back on the right path. If I can myself a good cup of coffee at home I"ll use fat free 1/2 & 1/2 and less sugar and no bagel or donut to got with it. I also got lots of great fruit & veggies. I will eat well if its in the house.

and now it begins again! I LOVE IT!!! Come on down. The more the merrier!
Add me to hopeful list! DH said I (not we) should take an adult only trip in the fall. Who I am I to argue? I would just need to work around the budget schedule. I'm thinking a long weekend might work.

OK... brainstorming here. Skip if so desired. ;)

In figuring this stuff I did no add in for taxes or tip. It will all be the same in the long run, the way I figured the amounts. I did not figure any appetizers or alcohol since that would be covered OOP with TiW regardless. Same with our dinner at Flying Fish. We would pay OOP for that.

Unless someone finds something wrong with my thinking here, I am adding the DDP.

DDP - cost to us is $480 for 6 nights:

  • We chose TS places and possible entrees. Total for entree/dessert/drink for 2 people for 6 meals = $425.00 (give or take $25 or so)

  • We chose CS places and choices for meal/dessert/drink for 2 people for 6 meals = $160 (or so)

  • Snack Credits we will use at F&W and will come very close to $4 for each selection so I figured $48 for that. I know we will use all our snack credits!

The only TiW discount would be on the TS locations we have chosen so we could potentially save $85 (20%) doing TiW vs. DDP. That brings the cost down to:
TS - $340
CS - $158
Snx - $48
total - $546
I concur with your Disney Math! I think not having an "adult" child makes it work better for you than the Elizabeth family. Having a good child eater makes it work for me!

Too cute! (and I hope Jennifer doesn't mind... :flower3: )
Too cute!!!!!

We had a semi productive shopping day....We found a concert dress for Cassidy brand new for $10, a spring jacket ($2.50) 2 pairs of jeans for Jim ($10), ONE pair of jeans and a tunic and a pair of slippers for Abi (approx. $10)

and a purse for Abi's birthday brand new for $2.50:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: I will put 13 coins in it...so one more present down.

Then we decided to head over to the mall..........JcPenney's had a very cute dress for prom for next to nothing but no stores in Colorado had the right size...so we went to Dillard's for the heck of it.....they have 4 dresses that Cassidy will have her friends help her decide today which one (all for $11 or less) and a beautiful pair of shoes (for about $11). So for less than $25 we will have her outfitted for prom!!:cool1:
Yay for great shopping deals!

That worked for me without clearing cookies. Thanks so much! What great photos!

Here you go. Side by side. He is adamant it is NOT him! :lmao:

He wondered if we should put Mya in a red dress to help recreate the picture.
Too funny!!!

Time for some pictures!
Loved all your photos! You're getting me excited for the flower fest!

I like the desk in the CSR room.

The trolls are there for the flower fest. I read about them last year but didn't actually see them in the parks. Joe will love finding them! They also have a topiary character scavenger check list this year that Joe will love.

You should have filed a police report for a robbery in your room. Disney certainly robbed you. Maybe that would have gotten more done?

CSR looks like a wonderful resort. We just found out today that one of Nick's best friends will be staying at CSR in April. Mom is taking the 3 kids for a 4 day trip. They have a lot planned, I can't imagine that they will get it all done in 4 days, but I'm sure they will have fun. She was hitting me up for tips and advice today.
I bet police showing up at the resort would have been noticed!

At least your friend has a plan!

1) We went on our honeymoon to SW weekends and enjoyed them. If you don't like Star Wars, then I might do other parks during the weekend because they do add crowds.
2) F&GF is at Epcot, and 3) Yes you should go, although it's not really something you would have to choose to attend. If you're going to be at WDW and you go to Epcot while it's going on, you're "going to it", if that makes sense. There are workshops and concerts, etc that are extra that you might have any interest in (we definitely did not), but the displays, topiaries, etc are just all throughout the park.
4) I love dinner at 50's PTC. The 'Smores dessert is to die for!
5) No answer, we never get around to it :)
6) We loved Fantasia Gardens, not as crazy about Winter Summerland but it's also fun.

Thanks Jennifer
Jeff and I both like star wars. maybe we will go one day.
Thanks I would probably not do the extars but that is what i was hoping about the topiarys
thanks for the 50's tip.
Just trying to plan maybe a down day if my mom, DB and DN come with us. Thats why I was thinking about the water parks and Mini golf. Of Course we are thinking of OKW or AK for the DVC so maybe we should just do the pools at the resorts.

We will definatly eat at CP and Askershus. Not sure where else. Trying to decide if we want the dining plan. We are planning on renting a car.

So as you all know I am thinking of going end of may/first of June next year.

thanks Tammi

Lucy has another ear infection. About 2:30 yesterday, I picked her up and she was burning up. Her temp was 102. We called the clinic and made an appointment for her. Thankfully my mom said she would take her to the doctors, so Eric and I could still go out, and then bring her back here. I figured she didn't need to go with the other 2 when she wasn't feeling good.

I am calling our ped tomorrow to get her to fax over her chart to our ENT. I am over this. She has not had a break from them since November. :headache:

Last night was a blast. Lots of good fun, some drinks and time well spent with good friends.

My 2 girlfriends and I planned a slumber party for the Friday night Eric camps in April. Should be a lot of fun.

Not much going on here today. Laundry and the grocery store. The girls are all tired and grumpy. We're headed for an early bedtime tonight which will make me very happy, them not so much!!

oh no Poor Lucy :wizard:

Hello.

We spent the morning visiting the pediatrician. It turns out that Colby has the flu. He has a high fever, cold and phlem, cough and upset tummy. They told us to treat him with ibuprophen/tylenol alternating, benedryl and they gave us a dose of zofran for his tummy. He seems to be feeling a bit better with the meds on board, but gets worse quickly when they wear off. I've noticed that Nick and Hunter both have coughs reemerging. The doctor thinks that when they were all sick 1 1/2 weeks ago it was probably the start of the flu and now more of it is manifesting. I truly hope that it means we are almost done with it. I have managed to shuffle my schedule so that I can stay home with him (or them) tomorrow. Chris will do Tuesday if they are still sick.

If we do an October vacation it will be Oct 17 - 25. That is the week that the kids only have 2 1/2 days of school.
:wizard: YIKES! Hope you get everyone healthy in your house. We've been fighting minor little stuff but its getting old. Emma was sick Friday. Joe had the runs yesterday and Lizzy is down with a cold. Emma & Lizzy did go to the Father/Daughter Dance this afternoon. It ended at 4:00 and they aren't home so Lizzy must be OK.

Olivia has had a runny nose and cough since Tues but no fever. Virginia and I started having a runny nose yesterday. I have a sore throat as well. I have sinus pressure
:wizard: Hope your house is all better soon too!

We still haven't been to a water park yet. My kids love the resort pools.

We did go to Winterland/Summerland last year and it was fun. The kids loved it. I thought Fantasia was harder but I've never been so I can't really say.

Before I went to the Flower Fest I didn't think it would be too big a deal. Epcot is already beautiful year round so how could this be that much better? BUT...it is really cool. There are lots of fun things for the kids. The topiaries are cool, the butterfly garden, some craft projects, special playgrounds. The concerts are just on the weekends this year.

thanks for the info about the flower fest and the mini golf and water parks.

Bernadette- :wizard: for your kids. I am done with Winter.

Deb-:wizard: for your crew too.

Tammi- I hope you and Bob can kiss and make up soon.:wizard:

Elizabeth- I hope the Target trip wasn't too stressful!

of course I am a bit scared to comit to renting points for next year, because what if Disney comes out with something like the 4/3 they have now or I get another 40% off pin.

Yes it is & yes you should go, it is beautiful with all the flowers & different topiaries!

I have only eaten here once & I don't remember if it was lunch or dinner :rotfl: We met up with Elizabeth & family & thought it was pretty good.

The other questions I can't help with.

Sorry to hear about Lucy

Glad you had a good time last night!

Never been during Star Wars Weekend.

The Topiaries are great a must see.

We have done dinner only and the food is good ole fashion comfort food. I didn't like the smores.

Never been to a water park, don't even use the pool at the resort.

We have done both and like Winter/Summerland best.

Love your photos! Really love the one from the top of Splash! Sorry to hear about your camera. Was it your Sony? She'll be 90 in September so it was scary.

I have always taken zoomed in photos from the top of splash this time I decided I would do the opposite. It was my Sony. I think it had more like 40,000+ photos on it. It was well used and abused. I have been coveting the D90, but at the same time do not want to spend that much money. I could get one of the others not sure what I will decide to do. My Dad has some old Nikon lenses that he is not using that could possibly be used with a Nikon. I know if I get the D40, 60, etc those lenses would all need to be manually focused.

Dad is doing alright. He is still in pain. He will definitely be in the hospital through Wednesday, they will decide what they will from there.

Robyn - I'm glad you were still able to enjoy last night. But poor little LuLu. :wizard: for her.
