The wind is howling outside...it was bad when I was walking and it's only getting worse

I was hoping the weather would yield a good safari ride and it did. We saw so many animals. The driver drove a bit too jerky for my liking but he was very knowledgable and pointed out lots of animals I may have not noticed. We were in about the 2nd row. I think it can be hard to take photos too close to the front or back but I got some that I really like.

You got some really good shots of the safari! I seem to always get the fast drivers & never have time to take a picture of anything lol

I found a few lenses I would like. I have a 35mm that is good in low light but doesn't have vibration reduction. It is a nice portrait or landscape lens. I have an 18mm to 200mm that I use most of time-it does have vibration reduction.

You have to buy the vibration reduction in the lens with my camera so I am only looking at those for a larger telephoto or zoom. Here is what I found:
200mm - 400mm $5,699.95
300mm (f 2.8 that is good!!!) $4,999.95
500mm (f 4-ok but not as good as 2.8) $8,109.95

Makes these ones sound more reasonable.....
80mm - 400mm f4.5 $1,369,95
70mm - 300mm f4.5 $589.95


SO....beyond the obvious expense is the fact that I am not so sure I want to carry around another lens!!!

Today is Dorinda's birthday so a few of us are taking her to a tapas bar tonight on Newbury St. Should be fun!!!

Holy crap, Bernadette! You could go to WDW 2 or 3 times for the cost of one of those lenses! I'd rather skip the new lenses and take more trips! Like in AUGUST.

DH bought a new strap yesterday. He has one from WDW but he said it is too short. Whatever. The strap was only $20 so it wasn't a big deal.

Janet - It would be REALLY GOOD if you and the boys came to WDW for a few days in August!

Yeah, but really, why wait? Book it NOW. You'll be awfully bored at home when the rest of us are at WDW so you need to just come along.

No! I will check it on Thursday when I go into work!

I just did my taxes and we are getting a refund! This might be doable.

I think that after what we found in our room on our last trip, we need a do over!
Leighanna would love to swim, and most days this last trip is was too chilly even though the pool was warm.
I am just worried that August will be too stinkin' hot!

It's Tuesday, isn't it?

DH just got home. He checked my cell phone for messages. There was a message from the school. DS was fooling around in Science. Somebody's paper fell on the floor, DS stepped on it so the other kid couldn't pick it up. The other kid shoved DS, DS banged his leg, there is mark on his leg, so the school wants to know if we want to file assault charges against the other kid. The Asst. Principal said there will be a bruise, but it didn't appear to be too serious. I am furious at DS for fooling around! If somebody's paper falls on the floor you don't STEP on it! DS isn't making a very good grade in Science right now, so the fact that he felt like it was a good idea to screw around instead of working is making me very, very angry.

I am pretty sure DS had Band after school, and I am working late, so it will easily be 7:30 PM before I get to look at his leg.

There is apparently no end to the drama.

I hope ds leg is not bruised to badly

The kid must have pushed him pretty hard if the principal is wanting to know if you want to press charges

Thanks! My driver was so fast that he'd have to stop to keep a safe distance from the truck ahead. I took photos when he had to stop. Gotta love vibration reduction and a fast shutter speed.

We're home from the Vet. We have a very sick kitty. It turns out that he has hyperthyroidism and his kidneys are only functioning at 50%.

But looking at those $5-$8,000 lenses make the $500 look reasonable. I don't think I'll get $500 one "yet" as I really don't think I'll want to deal with it. It doesn't make since to do it for just one major event. If the kids were super into sport or something maybe that would make since but I can't see me actually doing it for a while and they don't see that into organized sports so I'll have to come up with some other excuse.

If he likes it won't he need one for the other 2 bodies? Now he's approaching $100 not too far off from that $500 lense I want.



I actually hated the strap I bought for my Nikon-it really irritated my neck. I am going to switch it to the one I had on my Sony that I liked.

Tom - I think you should CALL about the vacation schedule. You should call NOW. Did you ever send a letter to WDW about the issue at Pop?

Janet - I just talked to DH. DS called to confirm that he had Band practice so DH got to talk to him for a minute. DS claims he was sitting in his seat, finishing a test. 2 other kids were fooling around, throwing paper. One of the papers fell on the floor, he stepped on it, and the other kid shoved him. DS says he wasn't involved in the horseplay. I may need to e-mail the science teacher and get the story from her.

Bernadette - Image stabilization is huge. Neither of the Olympus cameras DH has have IS. I think maybe the Sony has it, BUT he says he is going to get rid of the entire Sony system - body, lenses, and flash.

Did I mention that DH broke our burglar alarm? He had a bunch of the windows open the other day, and when he closed them the Zone light for the alarm kept thinking one of he windows was still open. That meant we couldn't arm the system for the past few days. He said the maintenance guy just came up to fix it. DH said the guy just slammed the window more forcefully than we had been closing it, and now the alarm is fine.
