DDA Chapter 17

So my friend asked me to post some playgroup pictures from CA and I realized that I had never pulled up our Photopass pictures. There aren't many, but here they are...

DL Christmas

Terra is such a cutie :goodvibes Glad you are feeling better!

Thank you for all the comments on the weight loss, the house, & Daniel.
Thankfully the Dr. said that Daniel's heart is fine!:cool1: He had an EKG & an Echo & all is good. The Cardiologist said that this type of pain on the left side is common in kids & that is growing pains & also by pinched nerves. Either way he is healthy.

We just got in from grocery shopping. It was nice to have 3 other sets of (little) hands to help me in with the bags.

I'm so glad to hear all went well!

Jen, I'm glad you had a nice day off! Both of my parents were off today, so we surprised them and visited for a few hours this afternoon. It was nice!

You should have been able to rent a car, even if you were under 25. You just would have needed to pay more. That was our huge concern with the wackiness at the last minute to go to California. As I could not drive, who would rent someone with a broken foot a car? My brother was only 24 during that trip. We had to pay a bit more money each day since he was under 25, but were able to rent without an issue.

As long as you are not renting a full size van or large SUV you should have been able to rent. In CA there were several people under 25 renting cars, well they were trying to rent full size vans and they would not let them. But would rent them other vehicles.

Oh I could have. It just would have been litreally nearly 3 times the cost to rent the car for the weekend. :)

Nick and I stopped by the aquatic center to fill out a membership form to make sure that we have a membership reserved when it finally opens. They have a trailer outside that is the current office. I mentioned that I had applied for a lifeguard/WSI position, but hadn't heard anything. Oddly enough, the lady that I was talking to was the aquatics director. She asked me a few question then told me I was hired :rotfl: :rotfl: Of course she hasn't even seen my application. I just emailed it directly to her so hopefully I'll hear back. I'm not sure if she was serious or not, though she said she was. They are hoping to do a lifeguard course within the next couple of weeks. I guess I might have a job. I told her I was most interested in mornings which is what she was hoping for and she was pleased to see an older person applying. I guess she has lots of 16 year old that are interested. I told her that I have a degree in Small Business Management and she said that I just keep getting better and better. :goodvibes Like I said I'll believe it when I have an official offer, but it certainly has me hopeful. It would be nice to actually have a job fall into my lap for once. And I would get a free membership if I work at least 20 hours each week. I'm not sure if that is an individual membership or family, but it is a start anyway.
:cheer2: :cheer2: You go girl. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Wonderful news on all fronts Anne Marie!:cheer2:

Well apparantly we are not covered for contacts for Katie til 2010. So she had to get new glasses, her perscription changed alittle so she needed new ones anyway. She is now sulking that she cannot get contacts. Such drama!

Well, looks like the doctor is the bad guy this time around!

Sounds like there was a lot of collective good news in DDAland today, so I'll give out a group YAY!!!

I'm so dreading tomorrow. I have to get up at 1AM, to be at work by 3:30. I'm hoping traffic isn't as bad as I fear. The day is going to be horrible, with traffic and crowds. I can't wait for the next 24 hours to be over with. Yes, I am so very excited to have a new president, hopefully one that will BETTER our country. I just wish we could bypass all the pomp and circumstance. I suppose if I didn't have to work in it I would feel differently. I'm going to try to go to sleep now. Talk to you all sometime!

Tammi hope you get some good sleep tonight & tomorrow goes quickly for you pixiedust:

Good Luck in sleeping!!

Bernadette - CUTE! The shirt is perfect for the Poly. I love the pajamas, too! I think the dress for the doll looks fine. Aren't you in a bit of a time crunch? I would probably give the doll dress to Halley and get on with your other projects! ;)
Thanks! I do have lots to do but that dress is bugging me and it won't take too long to make it right and Lizzy really wants one too......

Bernadette those are some great projects done. I hope that you find time to relax soon.
Thanks!

Someone posted this on another Disney list. It's got to be the cutest nursery every!

That is really cool!

Colby woke up with a cold at my parent's house today. I gave him a dose of dimetap when I picked him up and that seemed to help. We went to Kohl's and bought Nick an ensamble for his Ball tomorrow. He didn't want to go as dressy as a vest or suitcoat so we found dress pants, a dress shirt and tie. All in the Men's Dept  and it was only $33 :cool1: He still needs to try it all on (he tried the shirt on at the store) and find dress shoes. I think he will probably wear Chris' dress shoes as he didn't find any that he liked and they wear almost the same size. Now we are home and they are supposed to be doing homework.
I'm sure Nick will be quite handsome tomorrow!

That sounds very promising! Hope you work something out with the certification.

Bernadette,
Cute outfits!!!

What great photos. I love all the cool characters you saw but the photos with Santa are wonderful!

DH went and sold his hunting rifles. He made more than DOUBLE the amount he needed for the camera! :faint: Who knew? Anyway, banks are closed today so he can't deposit his profits. He is disappointed. :guilty:
How great that he got more than he expected! So what is he buying with the extra money?

Those are pretty cool but I just picture myself banging into them if I had to get in the middle of the night.

Cute Bernadette.
Thanks!

Poor Katie (and all those around her!).

Bernadette the outfits & shirt look great :thumbsup2
Thanks!

Ooh, this reminds me. I read on one of the Disney blogs to which I subscribe (can't remember which) that Disney is most likely going to start charging to store shipped items such as this. It seems more and more people (read: too many) are doing it after the airlines started charging for extra bags, and they just can't swing it for free anymore.

Just as a heads up, I know several of you have done this! We usually get water shipped there, but that's all.
The thing I read is that they hired an outside service to handle packages mailed to the resorts but that wouldn't include stuff brought to the hotel like rentals from abbf or gardengrocer or owners locker. I don't mail packages now that I have the owners locker and the kids are bigger but I did take 2 checked bags on our last trip instead of 1. I'm thinking I might need 2 with Lizzy as I wasn't planning on doing laundry and we'll a variety of both warm weather and cool weather clothes.

pixiedust: Good luck Tammi!!!!

Tammi - DH says "Welcome to my world!" At least you don't have to work those hours every day! ;)

Bernadette - The rifle surplus is currently up for debate. I told DH it is his money, because those were his rifles. He had the rifles before we were married, so they weren't even purchased with joint income. They were 100% his. He said he doesn't really want anything else right now, so I guess we'll stick the money in savings. :confused3

You could use it towards a house down payment.;) I know that isn't fun though.

Lindsay's realtor sent us 5 listings.

1 has no sq. footage listed - we think it must be tiny, 1 has been empty for more than 2 years and needs "cosmetic" work, 1 is the one I wanted to see on Saturday that the RUDE woman said was leased (not sure why that listing hasn't been pulled), 1 is HORRIBLE inside (ugly, dark, very dated) but we might go look at it anyway, and one has 4 bedrooms and "needs TLC" and DH doesn't want to look at that one. I found another one that is listed as "short sale" that is HUGE but REALLY CHEAP so I e-mailed the realtor to ask him to explain the short sale process. Not sure we even qualify to pursue those. :confused3

We are not ruling out a home purchase, but we realize there may not be anything really fabulous in the area we want at a price we can afford.

I saw a "short sale" open house the first week. The realtor's quick explanation is that it's a way for the owner to sell it for less than they owe and the loan company takes the loss, not the owner. Or something along those lines. I've seen several of them listed and the realtor from that open house is a short sale "expert". I guess it's a way to help those that are forced to move for whatever reason that bought recently in the height of the bubble and are now in a jam as they have to move for whatever reason. I know that can't be the whole story, but it was the quick info I got when Terra was ready to be looking at the house, not talking to the realtor.

Thanks for posting good wishes for Julia! :goodvibes Her mom (username "mykidsintow") posted that Julia loved them! She said Julia's Dr. appt. today went well, but they have another appt. tomorrow. I am not sure what Julia's diagnosis is. She is in a wheelchair and has a service dog, but I am not sure what health challenges she has.
Anyway, thanks for helping to brighten her day! :)

I read some definitions of "short sale" online. It is what you said - the owners bail out of the mortgage for less than they owe and the lender eats the difference. I guess there are some pitfalls for the buyer, though, so you have to be really careful and research all of the liens and so forth to make sure everything is satisfied. The one house I saw is over 2500 sq. ft. and it is listed for $99K! That is unheard of, even in a bad neighborhood! :faint: This house is in a good neighborhood, but it may be in really bad shape. It only had one pic of the front exterior. :confused3

Tammi - I bet you have already turned in for the night. :( I sure hope tomorrow isn't too horrible for you.
