DDA Chapter 17

Wow, the weather forecast is showing -38 degrees in the UP. I hope Vicki and family are warm.

I hope that everyone is able to stay warm today. It looks like a great day to snuggle in front of the fire or maybe take a cozy nap.

We're off to school, but it is only a half day for all. Colby gets to stay for lunch today so he is pretty excited. Just one more week and he will be staying for full days anyway. My baby is growing up.

I'm so sorry you all are having such lousy cold temperatures! We are currently at 48 degrees! It almost feels like spring! I'd do a dance, but I'm sure we are in for more cold weather, so I won't!

So Olivia and I were siting here eating popcorn with m&ms mixed in. Virginia was eating popcorn as well. I think she found an m&m or saw me eat one. As all of a sudden she is digging her hand into the bottom of the bowl trying to find the m&m's.

Leighanna didn't have school today and wanted to try on some of her new outfits I made her.

We had that happen once.

You know its cold when a window shatters from it!:faint:

Thankfully just the outside pane shattered, at least the inside pane is still o.k.

Now another thing I need to get scheduled before our trip!

Elizabeth :cheer2: for being approved to buy a house if you and DH decided that is what you want to do.

Loving your trip report. I tried California Grill for the first time last January and loved it. Can't wait to take for the first time 2 weeks from tomorrow!

I think this house thing is going to get out of control. I was Googling earlier today and found this really nice house very close to the one we looked at Wednesday. But this one is bigger and has more updates to the interior. It is listed as sale or lease. So I phoned the agent and she really thought I should look into qualifying for a mortgage. Hmm.

I called a mortgage guy just for fun. Gave him our info, he ran our credit, and now he is running us through some sort of mortgage calculator to see what comes up. The magic formula says we are "readily approvable". :faint: We just need to provide some supporting documents. Huh. Who knew? I wonder if this means we are actually going to buy a house?
pixiedust: Good luck with all of that! It is certainly worth looking into!

YIKES! Stay warm!!!

She doesn't think she's too old for any kind of book! Let me know how the DVD is, and I'll look around for the book. Thanks. She can generally figure out what she should do if she has an example. This might help her a lot!
There are 2 Chrissa books-I haven't bought those yet. I was thinking of getting Lizzy one for the plane. I hope to watch the movie this weekend. I'll let you know what I think and Lizzy's reaction.

Maybe it's a good thing our dates don't overlap. Poor Lizzy would look so "ordinary".:rotfl: Seriously.....those are stunning! AND....I am sad that we miss you buy 1 day. AND....I think Leighanna looks younger in shorter hair.

If you all could spare a little pixie dust and a prayer for my sister, she takes her driving test at 1 today. I know it's not a big deal in the long run, but she's a mess.

She's actually a very good driver, but had one incident where she turned and cut someone off a bit and it totally freaked her out (I'm sure my dad, wonderful but very quick to snap sometimes, didn't help the situation) (I picture a "When you're driving, you have GOT to be careful because someone could die" sort of lecture, you know...). I tried to reassure her that it's really by the grace of God sometimes that we arrive places safely, because - as far as I can tell anyway - we ALL have days that we either zone out or just do something stupid while driving. We shouldn't, but we do.

Anyway, after that (about a week ago) she just has herself all embarrassed, more than anything. She wouldn't try the maneuverability portion (she hasn't since driving school, 6 months ago), and when she did it last night she got flustered and had a hard time.

She'll be fine if she chills out.... but that's the problem. She's very chill all of the time, until she gets worked up about something. Then it's over! ;)

I made it home safe last night but not without incident. I had one of those zoned out times. I swear I looked in my blind spot but missed seeing a car. I was merging into the left lane and heard honking. I immediately went back into my lane. I felt quite bad that I missed him. Well, the other driver had a serious case of road rage. He pulled in front of me and slowed down to 5 miles below the speed limit. He blocked me in so I couldn't pass him. He kept cutting me off if I tried to pass. He missed my car by a few inches two different times. That was when I decided to call 911. I gave them his license plate. I also slowed way down so he knew I was going to stop trying to get around him. He finally just took off after about 15-20 minutes. I caught back up with him about 1/2 hour later but about 5 minutes after that, he pulled off the expressway.

Marci, so many cute pics! :)

It's good that the original house you looked at popped up, even if it isn't working out, because it's had you researching and now you know you have options.

Marci I'm loving your report, It is so nice to read on such a cold day. I also want to tell you that you are such a pretty lady and you have the picture perfect family :goodvibes

I'm off to work. I really just want to hunker down in my warm house, but that won't pay the bill.

You are too generous with your compliments! The pictures are what has motivated me to try to get working on my diet. I can notice the weight gain I've had since the Dec. trip last year, and don't want 6 pounds to become 12, 18 etc. I do know that I'm still way ahead of where I was before Mom got sick. I hope work brings you lots of vacation money.

Now another thing I need to get scheduled before our trip!

The window on my Tahoe cracked all the way across with our last ice storm. I can't imagine how you guys deal with this. I came home, laid down to read the last of a book, and put my heating blanket on 7!

The pics of Leighanna and the dresses are darling.

so I am trying to figure out what hotel to stay at when we go to the baseball game this summer. We are going to do six flags as well and probably one of the zoo's. Marci, Lindsay or Elizabeth any suggestions.

This is just a guess -- we'll have to research, google the area etc., but I'm wondering if one of the embassy suites around town would be your best bet. It would give you more room, and I think there is one out in the Arlington area, which is where several of the tourist attractions are. Our resident expert on events, tourist attractions happens to have a little more time on her hand lately, and might have some advice. I'm willing to help however I can. Are you still going to the baseball game on a weeknight?

Very scary! I'm so thankful you made it home okay!

Yikes! :scared: It's not like you did it on purpose, and it's not like you were driving erratically after that! I am glad he finally went away!
