DDA Chapter 17

Well, I am The Worst Mom Ever.
I COMPLETELY forgot to go get DS. They have early release every day this week because of exams. I knew that, but I got all wrapped up in the house thing. I asked Princess if she was getting hungry. She said "Hungry for what?" I said, "Lunch." She said "I thought we were going to go get DS!" :scared1: YIKES! It was 12:26 and DS got out at 12:20. As I was pulling up at the school my phone was ringing - DS was calling me from the office because he didn't have his phone. :sad2: There were still a ton of kids outside and the carpool circle was a madhouse. I am so glad Princess said something or we would have been even later!

I think we can manage the house if we like it. It would be expensive to get out of our lease, but not prohibitively expensive. It would just mean NOT paying off my Chase card right now and using our tax money for expenses related to moving - lease penalty, security deposit on the new place, buying a dryer, paying for movers and whatever other expenses we incur transferring our utilities and that sort of thing.

The house is in a different school district. I was looking at the website for the high school and it is incredible. It looks like a much better school than the one he would go to if we don't move. They have a MUCH stronger band program, a visual arts/technology program, all sorts of things that I think DS would really enjoy. I think he wants to go to 8th grade at his current school, then switch for high school. Of course all of this is cart before the horse (or school before the house) because we might not like the house and/or the neighborhood. :confused3
Good thing you have a 3 yr. old to keep you on schedule. ;)

:wizard: for the house decisions.

:wizard: That sounds promising!

The fire was a long ways away from the ear. It seemed rather "magical" watching it on TV no matter how gross it was.

I think I must be needing some sleep or something but my first thought on reading your statement was "I wonder if she'd try it on her cat." It was a rather humorous image.:rotfl2: OK... I should probably go to bed.

Nope. Wouldn't try it on the cat, either. :rotfl2:

I agree with DH. You should at least look into it.

We are very excited to see the house. Unfortunately I haven't heard back from the owners to set up a time to do a walk through.

I have NEVER just flat out forgotten about picking DS up before. It is a very good thing Princess said something!

Theresa - :wizard: on the job aspect!

I could use some ear candling. Mine are always plugges up and I hate drs. so no wax removal in my future.

Thanks for keeping it down today. I'm coming down with a head cold. It's just one thing after another this winter. We've tuned into American Idol tonight. The auditions have started.

It's just one thing after another this winter. .

Im with you on this. I have had a really rough couple of days between feeling sick, some family stuff, work stuff, and waiting on my friend from iraq and im just going nuts..which is part of the reason i havent been posting too much lately......is it spring yet?

If you do the ear candles will you post pics of the process?
I hope you feel better without sticking a flaming object in your ear! :wizard:

Hang in there, Jen! :wizard:

Of course. Setting my head on fire would only be done for the benefit of the DDA. But who wants to come and be my other responsible adult?

The pediatrician used hydrogen peroxide to get the blockage out of Sister's ear. Not sure how you would go about that at home, though. They poured peroxide into her ear until they were able to extract the big hunk of wax. It was the size of a small rock.:scared:

I have an ear wax problem and my doctor from when I was a little girl had my parents use an eye dropper to put the hydrogen peroxide in my ear. I still use it periodically. It tickles like crazy but it does dissolve the wax.

I took a very needed nap...and missed an employment call...just called back, left a message. He just called back...I am going to look at the operation tomorrow afternoon. See if it's a fit for us both.

It is just part time right now but a fairly decent wage and I would be the first one in the position, which means it' would be mine to screw up;)

Good luck!!

I had some put in once when I was a teenager. It was like magic.

Thank goodness you all kept the posting down today. I am absolutely swamped with Festival paperwork and compositions and have almst no time to keep up. Lots of luck and PD to all of you! Good night!

As fas as August goes, just let us know what you decide. They are changing the way we accrue vacation time so I'm not sure how that is going to work with our plans for the year. I honestly believe that some companies are using the economy as an "excuse" to screw over their employees. :headache:

I've heard that a lot, Debbie. I know the firm had announced a change in accruals (and a reduction in overall PTO) for hourly employees about 2 weeks before the end of the year with no notice to those affected. Needless to say, there were (and I'm sure still are) a lot of unhappy campers.

I do think "the economy" is a convenient excuse for all sorts of despicable behavior right now. What these companies don't realize is that when the economy turns around and jobs are more plentiful again, they might find themselves losing valuable employees to others who treat people better.

Happy Birthday Karen.

Happy birthday, Karen!

We got our magical express tags yesterday, but still nothing for our trip.

That's exciting!

Well, it is Tuesday the 13th. :scared: I have already gotten an e-mail from the mom of one of DS's friends telling me the Saturday of his party is a huge band competition thing. :headache: DS isn't in that, but 2 of his 5 friends are. :sad2: She wasn't CERTAIN that is the date of the competition, but I bet it is. That means we will have to bring those 2 boys home late Friday night or early Saturday morning, depending on what time the competition starts. Or perhaps their parents will volunteer to come get them. We'll see how that unfolds. Of course there has to be some complication.

Anne Marie - We can definitely move the DDA dinner to Friday 8/14.

Debbie - I am sorry about your vacation accrual being switched around. Hopefully by the time we are 90 days out you will know more! :wizard:

Elizabeth, I hope DS' party gets straightened out, and the majority of the boys are able to attend - sounds like a nice way to celebrate becoming a teenager. :goodvibes I hope your mom's radiation went well today.

See, there is a silver lining to the 90-day ADR window - it gives Debbie more time. ;)

I finally have a drive with the vacation pics on it, so during lunch I'll post a few.

Have a good day DDA!

I love your new siggie pic! Too cute. :goodvibes The boys look so much alike in that picture.

You got SO many good pictures! I love the one of the girls kissing Nicholas, and the one of you all jumping!

Do you remember if you had a lot of pictures, stopped a lot, etc? We NEVER get that many goods ones from Photopass!

Yes - Tammi, you had some GREAT pictures from Photopass. Our pics from December were AWFUL!!!!!!! Seriously, I think a 3 year old could have taken better photos - heads cut off, off center, horrible lighting, too much movement, etc. I think overall the quality of the Photopass photographers has gone down since its inception - I have some great pics from the first year or so (very clear and nicely set), and have had nothing like that since. Your pics though make me think that there is still hope. :goodvibes

Lindsay, it's so nice to hear from you! We decided to let your boys win a nail-biter game, just for you, you know ;)

I've missed you, and hope that you can find something perfect waiting for you that would involved less stress this coming summer! :wizard:

Yes, I didn't see much mention of our little run-in again last week. ;) It was another close one, that was for sure!

But, my season was certainly made complete with another Sooner defeat last Thursday - and from Florida, our 2nd team, no less. :woohoo:

I got an ammendment to my Disney Visa in the mail yesterday. It looks like they are finally raising interest rates. I'm going from 9% to 14%. We hardly carry a balance, but we just put on our flights and insurance to PHX for our March trip. We have until March 1 to pay it off and not get that lovely 14%.
Anyone else get one? It's my only credit card, and Bob hasn't seen any for his.

Yes, I got the same thing. We don't carry a balance, so I didn't pay too close of attention to it, but it is going up.

I think it's interesting, as all our other cards have gone down.

I hope that the job is a good fit for both of you. I'm sure having at least a part time job would take some stress off of you.

Im with you on this. I have had a really rough couple of days between feeling sick, some family stuff, work stuff, and waiting on my friend from iraq and im just going nuts..which is part of the reason i havent been posting too much lately......is it spring yet?

Any word from your friend yet? Is there anyone you can contact that may have heard from him?

Another slow night down in the books. Of course all this free time has one of the owners determined to "fix" all of the problems. There are so many things that we used to do that no one has done in years. Suddenly he is wanting all of these things done. It isn't that big of a deal, but he really needs to make a list of responsibilities so that everyone is on the same page. It isn't fair that a couple of people hear from him do this or do that, but others don't get told anything. I'll do my part, but I won't do everyones.

Hunter was still awake when I got home (though he should have been sleeping). Apparently he had a case of the runs tonight. I am praying that the dizziness is related and that he just has a virus. I actually had a bit of dizziness while sitting on the couch when I got home :confused3 Hopefully we will know more tomorrow.

It is snowing here now. I'm really hoping that school is not cancelled tomorrow. The kids want to go snowboarding.
