DDA Chapter 17

I'm glad you found out relatively quickly. Maybe you should get her one of those jitterbug cellphones with Chucks number programmed in. They are made for elderly people or even lifeline with Chuck as the contact.

THANK YOU for talking about the jitterbug phone, Deb! :goodvibes We need to get something for Bob's Dad and we were not certain what direction to go. This looks very promising.

Wow! A lot of stuff is going on.

Tammi - your beach vacation sounds great. The Valentine's dinner sounds just perfect! I wish we had something like that here. Guess I'll be doing something like that here.

Vicki - I love the medal! I think that I want one. Maybe I can convince Alan that I need it to go with my Donald one. Hmmmm. I'll also be praying for Becky. This is a tough situation for families. You want to be supportive of her, but you can see so clearly what she cannot. We went through the same thing with my sister, and it was hard. Just keep the lines of communication open so that she feels free to come to you. Don't ever badmouth the young man. That will just make her feel like she can't come to you when she needs to. I'll keep her (and you and Chuck) in my prayers for a good outcome for this. :grouphug:

Today has been a really odd day. Something is up with Timothy. He wants to be held all the time, and screams and screams when I put him down. I haven't had a minute to myself since noon. Right now, he's screaming in his swing, as I really needed a break. I can't wait for Alan to get home and take over the parenting thing. I'm not sure what Timothy's problem is, but I hope it resolves itself soon. He's been nursing all day long, so I know he's not hungry.

I hope Timothy settles down and you also get a break. :grouphug:

Vicki - Terry's advice is wonderful. Let's all hope that Becky sees the young man for what he is. December can be a long way off.

Goodnight ladies. I'm going to read for a bit before I start dozing.

This is the advice that my mother followed when I was with my abusive boyfriend. It was very hard for her too. I've always tried to emulate her because I really needed that support. I was supporting myself so my actions only caused them concern. We are helping Becky with college, her car, her insurance, etc. His actions have affected us monetarily now and so we have to take action to protect ourselves. That's why I need the prayers. I don't want to lose my daughter but we have to protect ourselves.

Oh, dear. That makes it very tough indeed. How old is Becky? I assume she cannot pay for college, her car and her insurance. That makes it very hard for you all, I agree. I am so sorry. What ever makes them think they are all grown up and can make all their own decisions but rely on parental financial support? :grouphug:

Could he have an ear infection? That is how Kathrin used to behave when she was a few months old.

Ear infection. My kids would scream if we put them in the swing when they had ear aches :grouphug: Maybe just a growth spurt. Does tylenol help?

see! I bet it is... the nursing alleviates some of the pressure in the Eustachian tubes.

I figured you would know some child who went there!

:rotfl2: I guess I do know a couple of kids here in our fair city... ;)

ETA: Actually... I think Kyle and Rebecca's (Kybecca) daughter goes there too! She and Harry are BFF.

I had a customer give one to her mother at the restaurant a few years ago. They explained it all to me then, but now I see it advertised on TV so I bet the bugs are all worked out :thumbsup2

I'm actually wondering the same thing. Mary has been complaining about her ear hurting, so it wouldn't surprise me. Alan came home and got him to sleep, but if he's still acting the same when he wakes up, I'll dose him up with Tylenol. I'm really thinking it could be a growth spurt, the way he wants to eat all the time. if it was his ear, I'm thinking he would cry when he sucked, right? It's been so long since I had an infant that I can't remember these things!

I'm going to watch Hell's Kitchen with Chris then head to bed.

Goodnight All

Oh, that makes sense. I was thinking the nursing would aggravate a problem. Hm. I'll see how he does when he wakes up, but we may be going to the doctor tomorrow instead of bowling.

Nope, sucking is very soothing. In fact we had to give Hunter his pacifier back after he had given it up as that was the only thing that helped his ear infections other than meds of course.

Remember that one of the best things for a baby to do as a plane takes off and lands is to nurse or take a bottle. The sucking really does affect the Eustachian tubes. Call the doctor in the morning and take that precious baby boy in. I hope you can get some rest tonight so that you can have patience with him. :grouphug:

Thanks for all your good wishes for Timothy. Since Alan doesn't have to work tomorrow, he's agreed to take over during the night so I can get some rest. What a guy! I am so blessed!

I'm going to say goodnight, now. Time for me to get the kids down, and head to bed myself.

Vicki,

Wow that is a hard situation to be confronted with. I understand your having to take action tho. You don't want to make her choose, but you want to help make her understand that you mean business when it comes to your livelyhood. The only thing that I would do if she does mention the subject is to tell her honestly that you understand that she loves him, but you have to do what you have to do to protect your own life. That will be hard but she has to understand. Does she want your assistance for things in the future or does she want him for all or nothing?

More than likely she will not understand now, but she will in the future because she might be hit with the same kind of decisions in her own life.

My heart goes out to you and hope you will get thru this. :grouphug:

Theresa - Sorry about the job, :grouphug:

Yesterday was NOT a good day. After the dental appointment, which was no fun. The tooth broke as she was pulling it, she had to drill into the roots and screw something into it to pull it out. No wonder I am petrified of the dentist, I stopped and got my pain meds on the way home so that I could start them before the numbness wore off, the meds made me ill so I spent the evening throwing up and hurting.

Thankfully today was much better, I went to work and took OTC meds and they worked well enough for me to stay all day. Now I have to force myself to make another appointment to get the other tooth fixed that I have also lost a filling from before it gets to the root canal or extraction phase.

I am sorry Debbie. Boy, do I know how you feel. :grouphug:
Prayers needed: Chuck's mom is in the hospital again. She had another reaction to her pain meds. They just can't get them right. They keep zonking her out where she has trouble waking up.

Poor Chuck's mom!! She can't seem to catch a break. :grouphug: Prayers said.

Theresa, I really thought you would have gotten that job. It will come, it just takes time. It seems to be taking a lot longer!!!!!

Right before I came on to check my emails this afternoon my prayer was "if not this job, please, please, show me where I am supposed to be soon"

Thank you all for the cyber hugs....you all are the best.

I'm sure we will. I've stayed at this condo 2 times in the past. The view isn't the best. In fact there is no view, as it's a bottom unit with a huge dune blocking the windows, but it is soooo convenient to the pool and beach. Plus he gives me access to his owners closet, so we don't have to take boogie boards, chairs, umbrellas, or fishing poles. I also get a bit of a break on the rental price. ;) As a matter of fact, I was looking at websites today for beach portraits down there as well!

this sounds absolutely lovely. :goodvibes

Has anyone heard of or taken their kids to a class at Young Chefs Academy? They are all over the country. We have one here in town, owned by a coworker and his wife. In case you are interested, here is info on what it is.

this sounds so awesome!! A perfect "date" night

I need prayers for Becky. She is not making good decisions in her life. She is engaged and plans to get married on December 5. This is to a guy who doesn't seem to know how to tell the truth. I don't want to go into details but just pray that she comes to her senses and sees him for what he is.

prayers have been said for your entire family.
