Have you noticed that food container sizes are getting smaller but prices are staying the same or getting higher?? I've noticed that with bread, chips, and cereal to name a few...

Yep. I mentioned that when I was making pie at Christmas - all of the packages were smaller than what the recipe listed. Shhh! Don't tell people about the chips! ;)

I woke up this morning to see a 40% off code in my email, I have never received one of these before! I am so tickled, maybe this is a sign & we can still make something work :goodvibes

That's WONDERFUL! :yay:

Oh, my, look at the time! I need to run, but I'll be back later.

Thanks for all the pixie dust and good wishes. So far nothing specific has been mentioned about our area, and I hope that we would hear more rumors if this site were closing. There still could be numerous lay-offs, though. My dh is so relaxed about it. He says that there is no use worrying about something that you can't change; you can just do your best to be prepared, and he really means it. I guess I'm just a worrier.

The girls on the breast cancer thread say "Don't bleed 'til you're shot."

I got so angry at Christopher I told him I was going to put him out on the front porch....even Jonathan is hiding...and I am not even mad at him :rotfl2:

:rotfl: The question is, is he still in hiding?

Woohoo! I'm finally caught up. It only took a half hour!

Bob and the kids took me out to dinner tonight. My choice. So I picked Red Lobster. I was in the mood for seafood, shrimp and scallops.

I got a 3D cube from WDW with Nicholas and Alyssa's picture inside, with the light-up base, which is what I asked for. Funny thing is, WDW sent 2!!!!! He got one before Christmas, that came with the original paperwork. Then yesterday the other one showed up at his house. No paperwork whatsoever in it. He said he tried calling WDW, but was on terminal hold. So being that he made an effort to correct their mistake, should I feel good about keeping it? I was considering giving that one to my parents.

It sounds like you had a terrific birthday. Keep the cube, as they would just trash it. Your parents will love it!

You are not a bad housekeeper. Bugs happen.

Ditto! You deep clean more often that I do. I hope you get all the critters!

I guess it's my turn to ask for pixie dust! Alan came home from work and announced that his company laid off 13 people today. He thinks he's ok, due to his seniority, but you just never know.

You got it!

The dealership that Chris works for is the only one in the area that hasn't had layoffs, most have had large layoffs. We are hoping that this continues to be the case. They are currently doing an addition which will double the garage area. We are really hoping that they just don't fill those bays until the economy turns around. Chris is pretty high up on the heirarcy, but you never know. I don't think anyone anywhere is truly safe. My restaurant could go under if things continue the way they are :confused3 We are just thankful that we have jobs and we are trying to pay down all of our bills just in case.

That's such a great idea!

Jennifer - Even though you were frustrated by the sitting, the pic in your siggie is precious!

Vicki - I hope they get the meds regulated and she can go home on time.

That is terrific news! I got a flier yesterday with 30% off... for DL. I wish it was for WDW. (whine)

Here's more PD and prayers, and also sending some to Debbie.

Tom-- cute pics in your siggie! I hope you do have a quiet trip.

Elizabeth -- happy birthday to Princess!

I'm going to get my gray washed out this evening. Boy does it need it! We had ice on trees on Monday, and today it's supposed to hit 75. :scared1: Jake has basketball tonight, and I'm beginning to get behind on laundry again. I didn't do that well cutting back on food yesterday, but I did get on the elliptical last night. I'll try to do that again tonight.

Have a good day everyone!

I would love to be at this temperature now, I am already ready for Spring! Enjoy your day :goodvibes

School is delayed for two hours, so instead of going back to bed, I think I will Dis for a little while.

Tammi, there is a new law that is supposed to go into effect Feb. 10th, that will put a stop to the resale of used clothing, and any boutique children's clothing that is made for resale.
This law was to stop the infiltration of lead and deadly toxins that overseas toy manufacturers put into their products.
But since the law states that it is for all products for children under the age of 12, alot of businesses will go bankrupt.
They cannot afford the thousands of dollars that it will take to make sure that each and every product that goes into their creations is determined safe.
I understand the need for a law like this, but alot of small mom owned businesses (Dad owned too) are going to suffer.
You can read more about it here.
I obviously don't keep up with used kid things. So I guess that law would apply to consignment shops?

ETA: I see Jennifer answered this question. Thanks!

Yep. That's been going on for awhile now. Remember when ice cream came in half gallons. You don't see that anymore. Coffee too.

Sort of. They are saying that there are now proposed exemptions, which sounds like it will include clothing because lead contamination in used clothing is almost unheard of. It's funny that nobody had heard a thing about this, and now as it gets closer everyone is REALLY upset. As public outcry grows I think the law will either die or be revised drastically.

Janet - Princess LOVED the pic you posted for her! :goodvibes

She is watching "Peter Pan" now.

I saw a saying yesterday that I want to try to strive to remember each day:

Live in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, the devil says, "On no, she's awake!"

Yeah, the blog entry from baby cheapskate that I quoted seems to confirm that. She also links to several other (real) articles where they pretty much say consignment shops, yard sales, etc will have fairly easy exemptions. I think it will mostly just be "sight unseen" situations, from what I'm reading, that will be drastically changed - especially since it's harder to confirm where things are coming from.

The things I have read are talking about "one of a kind" articles being exempted, but things sold in multiples will be subject to testing. Which I haven't quite sorted out. What if I wanted to sell DS's outgrown things, and he has several pairs of uniform pants that are all the same? But maybe they will exempt all clothing. :confused3

The ONE situation I can see where a law like this might be handy is for people selling vintage toys on eBay that could EASILY have lead in them. A stupid buyer could give the vintage toy to their child and the child could chew on it. That would be a problem. Otherwise, I think it is an asinine law.

Marci, I forgot to welcome you home yesterday! Can't wait to see pictures! :goodvibes

Many, many prayers for the entire DDA! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

good heavens I don't think there is enough of these guys :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: to say how much pixie dust (and prayers) I am sending all over the DDA.

Frivolous topic, but would anyone like to help me brainstorm?

We like to mark the kids' growth next to a Magic Kingdom icon on each trip. Alyssa's spot is Minnie's chair and Matty's spot is the Roy and Minnie bench. Any ideas for Noah? I know we rejected Goofy's bench (June's spot), because it's not always there.

Thanks in advance. :)

I like that :thumbsup2

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: I can't believe how this is hitting so many people. It's very sad. :sad2:

Hopefully thing will calm down and turn around soon. Alan says they are lucky, since the other 3 stations in our area started layoffs 3 months ago. Doesn't feel lucky, though. Luckily, there will always be news that needs to be photographed and reported. Since Alan has been at the station for the last 17 years, and is the second in seniority, he's probably ok, but like I said, you just never know. Can't take anything for granted.
