DDA Chapter 16

That is COOL! I would be afraid it would get stolen if I had it outside, though. We already have a door knocker, so I don't know if I could even have a custom one. I like the one in the first post best, but nobody seems to know where to get one. The ones Dan posted are OK, but not as good as the first one.

Terry - Sewing is very dangerous. :scared: Be careful!

I just finished a pumpkin layer pie thing. No baking, just mixing and pouring. Kind of funny (well, not funny, but a sign of the times) all of the packages have been downsized since the recipe was printed. The pumpkin is an ounce smaller, the pudding packets are about a half ounce smaller. Ironically I bought a larger pie crust (9 oz. instead of 6 oz.) because the pie never seems to fit in the crust without overflowing. Even with the larger crust it is filled to the top, so no big deal.

I only bought one package of cream cheese today, and if I am going to make the Jello thing I need another package. That can be DH's problem. He will be in a grocery store twice tomorrow! Besides, all my Cool Whip is frozen solid and it needs to be thawed to make the Jello. I stuck it in the fridge so it can thaw overnight.

Elizabeth - Your cookies look great!

Janet - The tree and kitchen look great.

Vicki - I hope you like your tree once it is up and decorated.

Robyn - I'm sorry you had to cancel your night with your girlfriends.

Glynis - Drive carefully tomorrow! Lots of :wizard: that it's a slow news day and Alan gets out early.

We had a great time with our friends today. The kids decorated cookies and the moms hung out and talked. It was like we travelled back 4 years except the kids were three times as big. LOL!

Tomorrow we'll just hang out and take it easy for awhile. I've got to get to the store to make our carmel rolls for breakfast on Christmas morning. I brought my bundt pan since there's no missing out on our traditional Christmas breakfast.

I've managed to watch the Dennis the Menice Christmas movie while I picked up the living room. I even...gasp...dusted the entertainment center :happytv: Now I can go fold the load of whites and sort through all those socks. I hate washing the whites just because of the socks. Thankfully the house is looking better. Only 4 more hours until I have to go to work.

I refuse to match & fold socks. I lay them out flat and that is the one thing that everyone is responsible to fold on their own.

I hope that she had contacted the fire department to warn them before she started. :lmao:

You know, the only time I have actually caught something on honest-to-God fire was that time I was making Jiffy Pop on the gas stove at my Nana's house.

My other kitchen disasters have been mostly flameless. :rolleyes1

The tree is up and "separated". The lights are very pretty. We will decorate tomorrow - it is traditional for us to decorate the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. Becky and Katrina are laying in the living room floor watching Mulan now.

I got the kids some movies from Redbox. Alyssa wanted Kitt Kitridge again and Nicholas got Star Wars Clone Wars. I don't mind re-renting a movie when it's only $1!

I rented 5 movies from RedBox today. Star Wars Clone Wars was one of them.

Glad so many of you were productive I guess you made up for my lack of productivity.

I stayed home from work today and spent most of the day in bed. I did go to the doctor. The good news is my lungs are clear. My throat is awful looking and my ears might be infected. A z-pack and Magic Mouthwash were the doctors orders.

I ate one popsicle today and drank lots of liquids.

I think I am headed back to bed. I hope to go to work tomorrow, as it is only a partial day to begin with.

:wizard: :wizard:

Here are a couple of pictures Gary took tonight of the kitchen. Picture a black stove & fridge here ;) Also where the window is on the back wall will be a door leading to the back yard. Still more work to do, but I can use my kitchen now! Excuse the clutter on the counters.

Very nice.:thumbsup2

We don't have airtran around here. Could I still sign up for their emails and pass the codes on to those of you who can use them? :confused3

I left here at 3:30 today. I needed to be at work at 5 PM. I went to the dump and bought dump coupons. I was out of there by 3:40 and headed to the next town over to pick up a few groceries and return some DVD, pick up more. I was done with RedBox and the grocery store by 4:15. It is a 10 minute drive from the store to work. I figured I could get some gas and hit the bank and still arrive in plenty of time. I did not anticipate that every living soul with a car would be in town at the same time. I also did not anticipate that an accident would happen on the one mile stretch of highway that I needed to use. That meant that traffic was bumper to bumper and I had to take the long way to work, using the back roads. Everyone else was using the same back roads. It took me one hour to get from Price Chopper to work  I was so stressed out by the time I got there. Of course one of my co workers was stuck in the same traffic, but did not take the back roads, opting to wait for the interstate. It took him 1 hour 45 minutes to navigate one less mile. Two of my customers commented that they drove and hour and a half for Dinner at AJ's. Of course they were stuck in the same traffic :rotfl: I will not be heading back over there until After Christmas, maybe way after Christmas :scared:

My holiday Christmas party with my team was wonderful. I love every one of them. I got some really nice presents. I got some Sweet Pea Bath & Body Works; some other lotions, candles & gorgeous vase; an Eagle figurine which I'll take to my office in Lansing; an Eagle night light on an agate; a stress tester; a U.P. coaster and an Outhouse poster (there's a story behind this); a digital picture frame; and a display photo album with pictures of our team.

Ok, for the story. The areas outside of Lansing are referred to as Outstate in many departments in Michigan. This really bothers my team. We have told people that we are part of the state. One of the governor's goals is "inclusion". Jim, my former boss and now coworker, is one that refuses to give up this term. He truly doesn't understand how this could bother us. We have told him outstate means out of state like outhouse means out of the house. They all really like Jim so it has become a joke between us instead of a bone of contention. He is in his early 60's and honestly it is just something that would be hard for him to change. A few years back, my team made him an outhouse out of popsicle sticks. Recently, with the time I spend in Lansing, I have been using outstate too much. Therefore, I got the outhouse picture as a reminder!

Glynis - safe travels for you all tomorrow. Merry Christmas!

Janet - Your kitchen is beautiful! Gary did an excellent job. I hope the antibiotics help your tooth until you can get in to see the dentist. :wizard:

Robyn - I'm sorry you had to postpone your plans. You probably won't feel up to it anyway.

Chanon - YAY for the Airtran deals. I'm trying everything that I can possibly think of to go away SOMEWHERE with these coupons. The days that are good for us to travel are not cheap airfare days! And Airtran doesn't fly into NYC for a long weekend there!

Wow, I've even had more of a fire than that. :lmao: I was making stirfry in my wok. I had the burner on high and the oil in the wok started on fire. The flames were amazing. They were a good 3-4 feet high out of the pan. I was afraid the upper cupboard was going to catch fire. I just got some baking soda and threw it in the wok and all was fine. I just cleaned out the wok and continued with dinner (after my heart rate returned to normal).

You need a coupon, or to PAY to dump your garbage? Here, as long as you are a resident of the county dump you are dumping at there is no charge. Also, here they are LANDFILLS, not dumps. More politically correct.

Vicki - I'm so glad you enjoyed your party. Did you get your meds?

So much for Alyssa feeling better. She had a lot of her energy back today, and her mood was much improved. She even told me she was STARVING at dinner time, so I made her some chicken noodle soup. She wanted some Ritz crackers so she had about 8 of those. Two hours later, she's over the toilet again. Sheesh. Nicholas was really bad today. He's ran a low grade fever all day and slept or dozed ALL day.

I have my French toast loaf in the fridge. I think the only ones that will be eating tomorrow are Bob, Bethany and myself. The really sad thing is that tomorrow is really our only day to have Christmas, since the kids will go to their dad's Thursday afternoon. They'll be home on the 31st. I hope they are at least well enough to go to Mass tomorrow evening. I'm sure they'll perk right up for an hour or so Christmas morning to open their presents at least!

Yep we pay to dump our trash. It is actually called the waste distribution center. Our trash is moved to a landfill in another town. We pay $3.50 per 15 gallon bag of trash. It adds up quickly with 5 of us. We have a trash compactor, but haven't used it since our bug problem since we were wondering if that was part of the problem :confused3 We also have to purchase a dump sticker for our windshield. That is $20 per year.

Oh no. Wow, that sounds like a horrible virus. Colby has been fine today though he didn't eat as much as usual. All 3 kids are staying with my parents tonight. I spoke to him when I got home from work and he was telling me that he missed me and he was crying a bit. He wanted me to go over there so that he could see me. That isn't normal for him, but I suspect he was very tired. I told Mom to try to put him to bed, if he wouldn't or couldn't go to sleep I would go get him. She hasn't called so hopefully he is sleeping.

I'm sorry to hear there are so many sick DDA and kiddos. Prayers & pixiedust: that you are feeling better soon.

I'm headed off to bed. My kids are still in the living room floor watching Mulan. Becky has to work from 1-6 tomorrow. We are going to go shopping in the morning before she goes to work. We plan to go to Christmas Eve service at Church tomorrow night.

Vicki - I am glad you were able to enjoy your party with your team! :)
I will remember never to attempt to make stirfry. :rolleyes1

Tammi - Poor Alyssa! That really is a mean virus! I hope both of the kids will feel better tomorrow! :wizard:
