DDA Chapter 16

Hi all...Well I am back from the surgeon, minus 2 teeth. The infection was in both of them. He put a drain in to rid the infection. Please pray that it works. He said I'll know by Christmas. If it doesn't then I'll need to have surgery to put a drain in through my chin/jaw. I don't want that at all!!! I had no warning other than the pain on Sunday but I really thought it was my sinuses.

So for now, I am hunkered down in Eric's room. Away from all the noise and 3 girls who will not leave their mommy alone.

The pain meds are slowly helping ease the pain and I plan on trying to nap while I can. Thanks everyone.

Oh, Robyn! I hope you are feeling better quickly with the meds, and that this is the end of the saga! :wizard:

For sweet potatoes...do you just put marshmallows on top or does it need spices or something else? Can you cook them a day ahead ? Thanks!

I add butter & brown sugar to mine, no marshmallows for me though(I love marshmallows, just not on my sweet potatoes).

And they look delicious:thumbsup2

The socks are sorted and the boys cleaned their rooms (well not Colby, but the older 2). Of course my hampers are over flowing again  I told them both that the next time the horde laundry in their rooms they will be washing it themselves :rolleyes1

Sounds like my boys! I get caught up & they bring down more

:wizard: for no surgery!

I have not heard from the Dentist, I guess no one has canceled yet today. I would love to get in before Christmas but it is not looking promising for me.

Chanon do you still need another code?

I hope the drain works and that you are feeling better very soon.

:wizard: :wizard: Give Janet and Appointment...Please:wizard: :wizard:

Wow, everyone is being so productive today.

Janet and Jennifer and Deb - way to go on the cleaning!

Elizabeth - you had us fooled. You do know your way around the kitchen! They look yummy!

Tia - the trip sounds wonderful so far!

I went to the store and got the last minute odds and ends that I need, but I don't think my 2 will be eating much. The plan was for Bob and Bethany to come over tomorrow morning for breakfast (french toast loaf and caramalized bacon and sausage), Mass either at 4 or 8, ham dinner, and presents. Now I don't know. Alyssa seems to be feeling better but Nicholas, not so good.

This is the bread I got. It's as close to homestyle as I could find.

Thanks for the code offer Elizabeth! I sent an email to your email so you can get it out for me.

I'm still on the lookout for 2 more. :teeth:
If I decide not to use mine they are yours!

OMG! :scared1:   That is horrible. I hope you can manage a halfway decent Christmas. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I also put in a splash of orange juice. You can make the potato part ahead of time, then just put on the marshmallows and bake until heated through.

I got the kids some movies from Redbox. Alyssa wanted Kitt Kitridge again and Nicholas got Star Wars Clone Wars. I don't mind re-renting a movie when it's only $1!

Robyn - I am so sorry! I hope you are feeling better soon and that no additional treatment is necessary! :wizard:

We just got back from the store. We got a ham AND a turkey. I thought maybe we could cook one or the other tomorrow, but DH has to work twice tomorrow so he doesn't think he will have time to cook.

I bought a pie crust to make a cream cheese pumpkin pie thing. I think I have everything to make a Jello/mandarin orange/Cool Whip thing, too.

Ok I have butter but not sure if we have brown sugar. I never cook except for the holidays so I never have stuff on hand. I should make a resolution to try & cook more for the new year....that would probably last a few days at the most!:rotfl2:

OJ? Hmmmm sounds good, I will try that too. Ok another dumb question, do you mix the marshmallows in the sweet pototes or just leave on top?

Just sprinkle them on top. Here are a bunch of different recipes for Sweet Potato Casserole. Are you using fresh potatoes or canned? Some people like to mash their potatoes and some just cut them up into chunks. Whatever your preference.

Ok I do not really cook alot but I am a master of Jello and cool whip pies. :lmao: These are my 2 favorites. Every time I make them they are the 1st things to go & everyone wants the recipe.:goodvibes

PB Pie (almost like a PB cheesecake mousse)

Ingredients

1 graham cracker crust (regular or chocolate)
1 cup PB
1/2 cup sugar
8 oz cream cheese
tub of cool whip
jar of hot fudge

Combine PB, cream cheese, & sugar. Fold in 3 cups of cool whip. Spoon into pie crust. Smooth the top. Add a layer of the hot fudge & a layer of remaining cool whip. You can decorate the top with drizzles of PB & hot fudge or even chopped peanuts but I just leave it as is.

Cool whip fruit pie

Ingredients

2/3 cup boiling water
jello (any flavor)
1/2 cup cold water
4 ice cubes
cool whip
graham cracker crust

Stir boiling water into jello at least 2 mins until dissolved. Add ice cubes to the 1/2 cup cold water to make 1 cup total. Add that into bowl with jello. Stir til ice cubes melt. Fold in cool whip. Put mixture into fridge for 20 mins to let set. After that take out of fridge & spoon into pie crust. Refridgerate for 4 hours or overnight. Serve cold.

I like to use raspberry jello & a chocolate crust. Also the lime with a regular crust is good too.

You can also use sugar free jello & cool whip lite. 140 cals a slice (8 slices) & if you follow weight watchers its 3 points per slice.
