DDA Chapter 12

We have that here in Northern VA, where I work. They have to make sure all cultures are equally represented. They, whoever 'they' are, decide that there is too much of one ethnicity at a school, so they draw school boundaries to make the schools 'balanced'. I'm trying to be VERY politically correct here, so I best not say anything further so as not to offend anyone.

Congrats to Sophie!

DISD is 93% minority so they have to draw our zones all wonky to try to evenly distribute the other 7%. I think DS's school is 85% minority. We could opt to send him to another school because our school's test scores are below the acceptable level, but he scored just FINE last year. It might prove to be a useful loophole if we need it, but for now we'll stay where we are. If we chose to apply for a magnet school the district would provide transportation.

Oh, thanks for the reminder!

YAY for a fixed compactor!!! :yay:

Marci - Wow! You guys are getting flu shots early! We typically go mid-October. I guess I need to call and see what our Dr. says. We did the mist last year and that seemed to go pretty well.
Glad some of your improvements are completed!

But I think that has to be why it went down! I read on another thread that the discounts that were out now were better than the AP rates that I had gotten. It is the only explanation I can see. :confused3

Hey, free money! :thumbsup2

Jen,,,Keep good notes on this child so if you do have problems, the notes will help with your request for an aid. If you have witnesses, make sure they know you might be needing their input in the matter.

Jen, is he mentally handicapped or physically handicapped or a behavioral/emotional problem? Your class is already big, so without an aide you may have quite a challenge! Good luck! :wizard:

So for $100 more we can be on the right cruise

Has anyone gotten any DINGS today? I seem to get them everyday except today.

Oh wait the 2 rooms are booked as 2 separate reservations so that is a $200 error. If everyone wasn't so excited I would probably cancel at this point. We've gone from $670 for 6 people to $1500 in the course of a few hours.

Deb, I hope you get the cruise details in order! That sounds like an awesome deal! I have DING! at home but not at work so I don't know if we have gotten any today.

Deb I hope you get the cruise figured out, sounds like a wonderful time!

Deb - they should cancel it for you with NO FEES because of there error if you want to change your mind. I'm looking up info for you on the ships...which one are you on?
ETA - the Sky!

The fees are the cost difference between Oct 27 and Oct 20. I'm sure that the $99 rate was there for the 20th this morning, but by the time I caught the error the rate was $149. It is still a good rate though. I think? :confused3

Norwegian Sky

Chanon just called and she checked the numbers for me and couldn't get us a better deal. I was thinking it was a special deal that only Travelocity could offer or I would have called her in the first place. Duhhh. My bad. I need to go to work now. We will have to iron out airfare etc over the next couple of days. For now we are happily booked on the Oct 20th cruise.

Well!
It is an INCREDIBLY good thing that DH told me to put his ticket on hold while we waited for the miles to switch from my account to his!
I just logged on to finish booking the ticket and now the flight from Dallas to Orlando is 50K miles instead of 25K! :scared1: I don't know if tickets with miles fluctuate like regular airfare or not, so I don't know if it will come back down or stay at 50K. I did see they added more non-stop return flights for 25K but I was afraid to mess with it to try to switch. 5:25 PM is kind of late to come home but we'll deal with it. Or DH will, because DS and I aren't ticketed yet! :rotfl2: My plan is to make sure we all leave Dallas together, but DS and I are coming home on whatever flight is cheapest.

:woohoo: :yay: :cool1:

I bet the boys are really excited!

Question for the Day...

If you had to chose a location for a vacation other than anywhere Disney related, where would you chose and why?

I'm brainstorming ideas for our vacation next summer and I found myself wondering where you all would chose and why. Maybe it will help me spark interest in somewhere other than Disney.

When we discuss trips it is usually related around seeing DDA friends. Chuck and I both would like to see more of the states and we figured planning it around where the DDA lived would be a win-win.

Before the DDA came along, I think I would have said Seattle or North Carolina. I loved both places when I visited them on business trips. I want to show Chuck how beautiful they are.

Emerald Isle, NC. Why? Because it's the beach, and it's relaxing. EI is not all commercial like Myrtle Beach. We haven't been in a few years and I am really missing it. I love going to the beach for a week and just relaxing. Sleeping in, laying on the beach, playing in the pool, watching the sunrise/sunset, walking on the beach in the moonlight seeing the crab scurry about, collecting shells. Aaaahhhh...............

They also have a oceanfront RV campground! http://www.htpresort.com/

Wow! That would be awesome!!!!!

If you go to Purina cat chow's web site & take a test on your knowledge of breast cancer they will donate $1. to the Susan G. Komen foundation. The questions are not difficult & you keep going until you guess right. Only 5 questions. Heres the web site: http://www.catchow.com/pink/?DCMP...HQS=donate

So, thanks to Marci, I made the kids well appts for physicals and flu shots. Our old ped. retired so this will our first meeting of the new dr. The office staff was very helpful in setting up the appt. so we're off to a good start!

Oh my -- please don't tell your kids. My name will be MUD. :rotfl:

Andrew was the first confirmed case of flu three years ago in the Dallas area, and I plan on that not happening again. Our peds office has been giving the mist/shots for weeks. The CDC says you can start the first of September. The boys got the flu mist this time. Although they don't throw a fit with shots because I bribe them, the mist was certainly easier and their arms won't get sore.

My carpet guy forgot me. I wonder if that's a sign? Hopefully he'll be here soon.

Have a good evening everyone.

Hmmm, that might be a sign to find somebody else!

I'll be sure to tell DS it was my own idea to schedule his mist. ;) DS can't have the shot in his arm because he doesn't have enough fat. :guilty: They still make him have it in his leg. So the mist is WAY better!
I hear wood floors are nice. :rolleyes1

Beth - If you ever road trip to Dallas I think perhaps you ought to skip Sonic. Princess wanted grilled cheese for dinner so we drove through. Ick. Her grilled cheese has been "grilled" on less than 1/4 of the bread. The rest of it is just plain bread. The cheese wasn't even melted! She doesn't care, but I am renewing my vow NOT to go to that Sonic anymore.

We spent the day at the Arboretum. My back is not doing well. I think it is from putting her in and out of the stroller over and over. Just before we left to come home I had a horrible back spasm and ended up kneeling on the ground. I hate that. DH and DS were just horrified, but when that happens I don't want anyone to touch me or try to help me up. It was a long day, and I am working until about 9 PM.

Elizabeth I hope your back is better soon :wizard:

I asked Tia to check on a few items for me at WDW, and when I called her back today, I accidentally got her in trouble, because they were at Whispering Canyon for dinner. I could hear the waiter hollering at her for being on her cell. I'm sorry Tia!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
