DDA Chapter 12

Guess what I found this morning as I was brushing Leighanna's hair for school this morning? The dreaded lice. Ugh!
Today is picture day at school.
Needless to say Leighanna will miss it.
We called the school. Apparently they are not allowed to inform parents if a child has been infected.:confused3 They only hinted that Leighanna should ALWAYS wear her hair up. Apparently there is a child in her class that has them and is continuing to go to school untreated.:sad2:
Off to spend the next 5 hours trying to get this out!
I have to bag all her stuffies for two weeks and wash all the bedding in hot water. I have a feeling this is going to be a long day!

YIKES!! :scared:

While our schools aren't allowed to say who they are mandated to send a letter home saying somebody in the class has come to school with the lice.

Tia, Terra and Phil- May your trip be full of many magical moments together!!

Jennifer, Jeff, Olivia & Virginia- May your trip have many magical surprises!!

Beautiful, Robyn.

Maybe your trips be truly MAGICAL!

What a pain -- good luck with that!

I agree -- no names but they have to send a note home.

I'm working from home with the kids today as they are out of school. So far I've gotten lots of laundry and work done -- I love working from home!

I better get going -- we have a busy afternoon with haircuts and picking up the nephew from school, so I better get some more work done.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Thanks Jennifer and Tia.

Since Leighanna crawled into bed with us last night, we are all in for treatments today.:scared:
I don't know whether to cry or be mad!
The school secretary said that they are not allowed to inform us. I really wish they would!
And yes, she is in public school.

Federal law I believe makes that school a bit uninformed.

I am sorry that everybody gets to do the fun stuff but that is probably actually a good thing!! Helps keep the creepy critters away!!

We just got in from scouts and found out that our troop leaders mom , Liz, has a brain tumor. We know that the tumor is benign but that's about it for now. Apparently she just found out today and was at the meeting. Liz is very active with the troop and loves the meetings. If you all could spare some pixie dust for her that'd be great.

:wizard:

I just got off the phone with the school. Unless the school nurse has seen it, no notes sent home. So if an infected child goes to school, and doesn't get checked by the nurse, NO NOTES.
The secretary just "hinted" to the fact that she "thinks" she knows the culprit.
So far all we have seen is one active little bugger in there. No nits. Hopefully we caught this thing before the little critter laid any eggs.
I went through DW's hair with a magnifying glass, and she did mine. NOTHING!
Thank God!
But I still feel itchy.
Must be psychological!
We are still going to treat our hair just in case.
If Leighanna knows that we have to do it too, she might not cause such a fuss.

Off to rinse the stuff out, and start the combing process.
This could take hours with Leighanna's hair!
Check back in later!

Have a Magical Vacation, Tia and Jennifer

Thank you all for the good trip wishes I think I forgot to quote a few others. I am still suffering from a migraine which is not good as I have a bunch of stuff to do on the computer later.

I would be stomping up and down in that principal's office!!!!

I had a friend who's daughter had it at the end of last year. 2 rounds of it! She had long hair, not as long as Leighanna's though. Mom literally had to go through each strand of hair to get rid of it. It took hours each night. She got rid of it, then a short time later got it back again. Her's came from another student on the bus. Needless to say, she isn't riding the bus anymore.

okay so I have seen pictures of BBB and it looks like they put glitter in the girls hair Tammi and Deb is this correct?

I saw at walmart they have glitter hairspray in the Halloween department. Trying to decide if I should get this and if I should get gold or silver.

I have one load of laundry in the dryer and another in the wash. I cleaned out the fridge last night for the trash man today.

I have a bunch of stuff to print later when Jeff gets home. Of course in 40 minutes I will be printing boarding passes.

If you get the hairspray....go with gold...matches the pretty head piece!!

When the kids got it, Guenna's hair was down to her waist. it took me over three hours. Then the school nurse would call and tell me she found a nit. I said thanks but she wanted me to come and get her. I was so mad. I said I used two treatments the thing was dead and i will get it when she got home.

Yes, Jennifer, they sprinkle it on very lightly. I think it's multicolored. If you are going to buy it, I would go with the silver.

Well I was wrong, we found the little nits. This is going to take forever going through each strand of hair.
I am going to go and talk to the principal and school nurse.
I am fuming!
We are not going to cut Leighanna's hair. But if we have to go through this time and time again... I just don't think I could do it.
I am taking a break from it.
Thankfully Playhouse Disney is keeping Leighanna somewhat occupied as we go through it.
But my back is already killing me.
Can I go back and start this day over, with better results?
Wah!
Enough of my venting!
Time to go back and deal with this!

I will keep you posted on Lice Watch 2008.
