"without power, limited cell service...60 mph sustained winds for 7 hours now..5 more expected...we are ok, have my hands full w/ the girls...pls pray for parents & sis....major damage, trees, roof etc, lot's more about to fall"

Oh, my! Lots of good thoughts for all of you in those high winds! :wizard:

Thanks for posting this! I just got the same text and came to post about it. Prayers for all affected! I'm so glad that you are ok, Kristine. And also Lindsay, Jennifer, Marci, Elizabeth, and hopefully Karen. Now, if I can just hear from my SIL about her family and her son's family, I can stop worrying. They live in Houston, and we haven't heard from them since Friday.

Good thoughts for your SIL and family! Hopefully they are just without power! :wizard:

Elin - Well, part of the problem is I don't care if my stuff gets wrinkled so I am fine with packing that far ahead. :rotfl2: We carry a bottle of Downy Wrinkle Releaser and just spray stuff as we get ready to wear it. :confused3
We have a rolling duffle that I used as a shoe bag for a couple of trips. I much prefer an upright because the frame of the duffle takes up a lot of the interior room. (At least on the model we have.)

Amy and all of Ohio folks....I hope everything is okay with the storm. We had some ugly rain and wind this morning, but not too much damage. A few large branches down here and there, plus all of our houses had at least small leaks. It's been clear the rest of the day though. Kristi's house has no power still, though, and our church has several inches of water and sewage in the basement level - including the brand new section.

my goodness, gracious!! no end to the terrible weather.

not yet!!

I am right now dealing with another headache. All this week I've gotten a headache about this time every day (unless I was already dealing with a migraine). I am getting sick of this!!

yuck :wizard: that it goes away soon.

Theresa - Lots of :wizard: for both your headache and your ID. I hope both issues resolve ASAP!

To everyone else - Lots of :wizard: and :grouphug: and  I had a reply going, but lost it and my spot on the thread somehow. Since Rachel is needing the computer for school I guess I'll just stick to the current post and jump back in.

Add our area to the prayers, please. We've been experiencing some very high winds for the last few hours, and I'm pretty sure Jen's without power on her side of town. I had hoped to run some errands during naptime, but after seeing three trees and a big building sign knocked down within a mile of my house, I turned around and drove straight home. We've lost a little siding. Strangely, there's no storm, but they claim one will arrive later.

Thinking of you all! :grouphug:

stay safe:wizard:

yikes Jen I hope you and your family are safe.

We have had 14-15 mph winds pretty steadily all afternoon, but I think they might be a result of the front that Kristine was dealing with yesterday and not Ike.

I have decided that in order for me to have a less stressful pregnancy, you all have to move to Utah where I can keep an eye on you. We don't have hurricanes, rarely have tornadoes (1 in my 41 years of life), beautiful seasons (at least 4 of them, and sometimes 6), great scenery, and we're really close to Disneyland.

I know you all want me to have a restful end to the pregnancy, so I'm expecting to see you all jump on this bandwagon! Who's first to sign up???;)

Glynis, Any way that we can transport ourselves for a few days?? I have always wanted to see Utah. But with all of my babies here, I need to stay close to them. I need to win a lottery to be able to travel to all of the places I want to go to!!!!

You are so sweet!! They could move here too!!

Tom what a beautiful dress & Leighanna is so pretty!

Lindsay thanks for checking in. Glad to here all is well with everyone with minimal damage. :wizard: that the power is restored soon!

Robyn hope you feel better today!

Thanks, and I hope Virginia continues to improve and it doesn't affect the rest of you.:wizard:

Hmm. Even 50 desserts wouldn't make me rethink sweets, but if you say so. :rolleyes1

Hmmm......

Robyn - Lots of teachable moments at your house this week! :rotfl2:

Too many in my opinion

Good Morning DDA

Here is hoping those that went thru bad weather yesterday are doing better today.

Last night was such a big success. Hal was completely surprised. He had no idea at all. Over 50 people showed up.

Sounds like a great memorable evening.

I think your response was perfect Robyn. I don't blame you for never bringing it up. Some things don't need to be discussed until the child is curious enough to ask. When I got to the part about adoption I was waiting for the 'and where do babies come from' part to be added. :rotfl: Maybe she'll save that one for next week! ;)

Or the next millenium ;)

Oh, Kristine - I hope the damage isn't too bad! I chuckled at your Valium comment, but in all seriousness, I hope things can quickly return to normal -- especially before your trip! :wizard:

Robyn, just keep an eye out for articles, etc. Last year around here, there were a handful of apples to be picked in late September, then nothing. Our summer has looked about the same this year, so I'm thinking it might not happen. If you've had "normal" weather though, you should have apples (of some variety) the whole season!

Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep an eye out for when we go.

Babies come from CHINA! Weren't you listening? :rotfl2:

Marci, sorry you guys got worse weather than we did here. I am glad to hear that it isn't too bad, though!

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Marci, I'm dittoing Elizabeth.

Ours went up around 30 cents too. Talk about gouging. I understand that it will go up because of Ike and the refineries, but immediately? Give me a break.

I agree it is crazy that it jumps up before anything even happens.

I am worried about them too. Houston does look scarey! And not hearing from Kristine is not a good sign.

I have another Disney friend who lives in the Chicago area and I tried to call them on both cells and their house phone. No answer on any of the phones. I left a message on their home phone, but their cell phones both said something about the number being unable to take calls right then. It was an odd message.

Kristin has 6 friends from college who moved to Chicago this summer to begin their quest for fame on the stage. She texted them last night and has not gotten a response from any one of them. That is also highly unusual.

We are worried about our friends. :grouphug:

I hope you can get ahold of everyone.:wizard:

Phew! You sure have had a serious week! :rotfl: I'm gald you are feeling better this morning!

Ok.... I definitely didn't have time to get on here, but I couldn't help myself :rotfl: I'm off to throw the girls in the car and rush to get to church (late), then we're going to lunch/dinner at my grandfather's house. His wife is an excellent cook, so I'm looking forward to it! Kyle is on call tonight, so anything to pass the time..

Have a wonderful Sunday, DDA! :goodvibes

It can only be easier this week ;) I hope you enjoyed your day out and about.

Today is a really nice day, except for the dang humidity.
Just walking to my moms and back, and I needed my inhaler.

I hope you're feeling better.

I bought my MVMCP tix for 12/4. I think that is all that I can do now. I'll call ME on Monday and give them our flight info, and make sure I have the DDP added to our ressie. I need to pick some pictures that I want to use for the personalized menu at Coral Reef. It's a surprise for Nicholas' bday. I got the diver for him too. We are having dinner at 1900 Park Fare for his actual bday. I'll need to call the bakery and order a cake. Any suggestions on what I should get?

My girlfriend, her DH and 2 DD's are going to that MVMCP. She wanted me to direct to the board that allowed her to chat with people going the same time. I told her I send her here. :goodvibes

If I could get some pixie dust this way I would appreciate it...it's for something so small, in the grand scheme of the DDA but it's huge for me.
My ID has gone missing again (I use it so very infrequently, it wasn't where I last had it) and I have 12 days until I NEED it for the weekend with Glynis. I am nearly in tears (although that doesn't take too much lately).

I hope it will turn up. :wizard:

In many ways I'd love to move West, but we need to be here right now. You don't have to worry about us, though, our weather sounds similar to yours. The only real issues are occasional flooding (and we live on a hill, so no worries for us) and a snow storm or two.

I will make it out to visit Utah one day, though!

or, as Kristin said... "Mom, just tell Dad the big suitcase is his!" Which is what I plan to do. ;) No purchase necessary. :rotfl2:

Great plan!!!

It is a chilly 64 here :cold:

My kind of weather!!!

Yikes, stay safe! :wizard:

We went to Super Target to buy groceries. DS's lunch box handle came off after he used it exactly 12 times, so we took that back and got a different style. Found a black polo for band (why they have them at Super Target and not Target is beyond me). A little over $200 later we were back in the car.

I still haven't started the laundry.:rolleyes1

Super Target would be my downfall for sure. :yay: for finding the black polo. Our Super Walmart has stuff our regular Walmart doesn't have and vice versa.

Tell Eric he gets the birds and the bees talk!

:scared1: No thank you!!:scared1:

Oh, I hope every one remains safe and sound. :wizard:

Robyn - Hmm. Not all of that stuff looks like stuff I would eat, so even after 50 choices I don't think it would diminish my love of sweets.
You are lucky to have girls, because when it is time for the "birds and bees" talk there are TONS of books. There are like 2 books for boys, and they actually have a little bit too much info for boys who are only 10 or 11. I just sucked it up and bought a book with a little bit more graphic info because I would rather have DS get accurate info. The books are in his room where he can look at them any time, and he can ask questions if he has them. They had a little presentation at school where he got a couple of brochures, but I am sure it wasn't nearly as comprehensive as I would have liked.

:wizard: :wizard: Good thinking in turning around. If you don't need to be out, stay in!
