So I really screwed up tonight. Making spagetti and was checking the noodles - the spoon jumped out of the pan splashing water all over the top of my left hand. I don't think I've ever hurt this bad before from a burn before.

Ouch! I hope you immediately put it under cool water. I hope the pain subsides soon. Take some ibuprofen.

No telling. She said other things in her e-mail. Told me a little about her classes, that she is learning about different things in anatomy...
Beth, maybe that's it! Maybe the stuff she is learning in anatomy is forcing her into a new understanding of Mom's condition. That's my Shazam! moment of the day.
She also said she thinks I would like her Humanities teacher.
Maybe Mom went to bed early and Diva was afraid mom felt sick. Perhaps Diva was just feeling a little sad and alone and decided to e-mail. Not sure.

It would be great if Diva could grow up a little and start to have a different kind of relationship with you.

Hmm. Mom says she feels fine, she worked all of her scheduled shifts this week, no problems. I don't know what the deal is.
She got her box today. She said to thank Tammi & Marci for the cards. I told her I am worried about her financial situation, I am worried about the Taxol, I am flat out worried because she has cancer. She says she is fine, I shouldn't worry about her.

Diva wasn't home. She hasn't e-mailed me again, but maybe I will hear from her later. Who knows. I would like to know precisely WHEN Mom wasn't feeling well and exactly what that consisted of.

Well, I'm glad to hear that your mom SAID she is fine. Whether or not it's true, who knows. Why don't you call and talk to Diva?

I'm sorry to jump in and jump out so much, but I'd like to ask for some prayers and PD from the DDA. Please, please be praying for the greater Houston area with Hurricane Ike imminent.

You have all that I can send their way, Lindsay. And some for you to deal with their poor judgment.

I am glad your short respite from the awful stuff at work. I bet you could tell us how many days or even hours until it is over for another year.

we are sitting here while Ike passes over head. Here at the house we have only had wind. It lightly rained for a few minutes earlier. Right now it is pretty windy and is suppose to get worse. I am trying to stay calm so Watkins has a pleasant hurricane(even though this is my first one too) experience. Pretty much Galveston is flooded which means my friends house is flooded. If you could send prays for all of Galveston especially Sarah Hall and her family. She seemed pretty shook up earlier. I am just hoping we don't loose power because I use a breathing machine at night and need electricity. Dad did get a generator I just don't want him to have to get up in the middle of the night to start it. ill give a report later on.

I just got back from dinner with Kristin and her friend at the local wine bar and the first thing I did was to turn on the Weather Channel. It is a very scary storm.

Growing up is good, and I love to see the young adults that they are becoming. That doesn't mean I don't sometimes miss those days when they were always right here beside me. You just need to re-learn mothering a little bit, I guess.

I used to tease my one friend when her kids were first driving by themselves. She used to be so worried and nervous and made them call the minute they reached their destinations and again before they left for home. Yeah, well, now I understand! I am glad for the independence, but that doesn't mean it's always easy. Someone once told me that having children is like having part of your heart walking around outside your body.

That is a perfect description, Beth! I know he will be very careful but I can understand your worry.

I don't know. She isn't a BAD teenager, she is just very selfish. She gets good grades, which is nice, but she apparently has no plans of getting a job. Mom actually said when she is done with her Taxol she will get a second job! I told her she will NOT, because she has 30 doses of radiation after the Taxol. Diva needs to get a job and WORK on weekends instead of running around.

So we watched Nancy Drew tonight. It was my first Red Box purchase. I can see myself using that a lot. The kids liked it.

Alyssa had a cold. She has been getting up in the middle of the night complaining about her throat hurting. Today it really developed into a full blown cold. Stuffy nose, watery eyes, sneezing. I gave her some sudafed and rubbed some Vicks on her. I hope she can kick before Monday rolls around.

Tomorrow is Nicholas' first football game. The team will all gather at a local shopping center and then caravan the 45 minute drive to the school he will play at. He is excited yet nervous.

Oh, she has had a cell phone for YEARS. The Ogre got it for her. She has a brand new cell phone with unlimited texting. Mom just took her to upgrade her phone a couple of weeks ago. I just meant she is out running around so if I call her she won't give me the whole story because she is busy with her friends. I would rather have her e-mail me late at night when she is by herself.
