DDA Chapter 12

Elizabeth have you heard from your mother yet?

I used to tease my one friend when her kids were first driving by themselves. She used to be so worried and nervous and made them call the minute they reached their destinations and again before they left for home. Yeah, well, now I understand! I am glad for the independence, but that doesn't mean it's always easy. Someone once told me that having children is like having part of your heart walking around outside your body.

So true :goodvibes

You won't believe this. Randy Pausch's lecture is on PBS right now.

ETA: It just hit me. He was born the same year as Chuck. I never made that connection until now even though I've watched the lecture a couple of times.

Did your children's schools have a moment of silence in honor of 9/11?

I was ASTOUNDED that the middle school did not! All the district schools have been doing this since the first anniversary....

Yes all 3 kids (in 3 different schools) had a moment of silence yesterday. They were all requested to wear red, white, & blue.

Thanks, now though I am afraid I told her a little too much as we will be getting on a plane in October. And she likes to worry. She asked again this morning and we talked some more. I had to keep telling her now that flying is much safer as everyone is checked a lot more than before.
That's what happened with Katie. She was 5 when the towers were taken down & she had been there & knew what was going on. She refused to fly for 2 years after that. we had plane tickets with US Air for a December 2001 Disney trip. There was no convincing her & I wasn't going to bring a hysterically screaming kid on a plane. She had a real fear & as her mom I just could not do that to her so we cancelled a few weeks before..lost $1,100 (they gave a us a 1 year voucher but she wouldn't fly the next year either). Disney gave us a full refund due to the circumstances.

Look at me I'm in single digits. :dance3: :cheer2:

All heck broke loose on Tuesday and Wednesday night. Clients complaining and escalated to upper management. That is the unfortunate part. Fortunately, it has made them LISTEN to the concerns I have been raising to them for months. That has been the reason things have been bad - I knew it would eventually come to this and at the same time I was hoping that I was wrong.
:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Lindsay,
Hoping all of you family are safe. We are glued to TWC.

Deb,
Hope Hunter is better.

Chanon,
Yay for cruise documents & yay for more boxes!!

Elizabeth,
Hope you reach your mom soon.

Beth,
Hang in there! I am sure he will be fine. (I would be alittle nervous too, thats what us moms do!:rolleyes1 )

So I really screwed up tonight. Making spagetti and was checking the noodles - the spoon jumped out of the pan splashing water all over the top of my left hand. I don't think I've ever hurt this bad before from a burn before.

Ooh, I know it hurts like the dickens. I did this when I made Lucy's birthday cake. I just kept running cold water over it and it helped tremendously. Just don't put butter or vaseline on it.

Lindsay- Your family remains in my prayers. :wizard:

Elizabeth- I hope you were able to get a hold of your mom. :wizard:

Theresa- I love it!

Vicki- I hope work does settle down for you some.

Deb- I hope your weekend is fabulous and everyone enjoys the race. :wizard: for Hunter.

Janet- :yay: for all your shopping purchases!!

Anne Marie- I am sure that had to be a hard time for Katie, old enough to know something is wrong but not be able to fully understand it all.

Hmm. Mom says she feels fine, she worked all of her scheduled shifts this week, no problems. :confused3 I don't know what the deal is.
She got her box today. She said to thank Tammi & Marci for the cards. :) I told her I am worried about her financial situation, I am worried about the Taxol, I am flat out worried because she has cancer. She says she is fine, I shouldn't worry about her. :headache:

Diva wasn't home. She hasn't e-mailed me again, but maybe I will hear from her later. Who knows. I would like to know precisely WHEN Mom wasn't feeling well and exactly what that consisted of.

Oh no! I hope you are ok!

we are sitting here while Ike passes over head. Here at the house we have only had wind. It lightly rained for a few minutes earlier. Right now it is pretty windy and is suppose to get worse. I am trying to stay calm so Watkins has a pleasant hurricane(even though this is my first one too) experience. Pretty much Galveston is flooded which means my friends house is flooded. If you could send prays for all of Galveston especially Sarah Hall and her family. She seemed pretty shook up earlier. I am just hoping we don't loose power because I use a breathing machine at night and need electricity. Dad did get a generator I just don't want him to have to get up in the middle of the night to start it. ill give a report later on.

OUCH! I tripped over Matthew when he was a baby carrying a pot of pasta in boiling water. Thank goodness, nothing splashed on him. I had a nasty burn on my hand, though.

Thanks! I'm sure that he will be fine, too, but it's still a little nerve wracking. A few more times, and it will be old hat, right? I still can't believe that he is going to be away at college this time next year.
