We saw Nim's Island when I took DS to Kansas. It wasn't fabulous, but it was OK. I wouldn't see it again.

Didn't see Nancy Drew, but it looked like it was so far off from the books that would have driven me up a tree. I like accuracy in a screenplay. ;)

accuracy in a screenplay is often like a circle in a square hole. ;)

Hope the meds kick in quick!

Elin - I hope your trip starts off with your music! :wizard:

Beth - I bought mini-bagels the other day. I THOUGHT they were cinnamon swirl. I HAD those in my hand, but I put them down to get a bag from farther back on the shelf. Managed to get home with plain whole wheat bagels, which none of us like.
I have no brain function at all. None. And I hate it! :headache:

Elizabeth, maybe our brains decided to stay in WDW without us. I sure hope that mine is having fun wherever it is, but I really need it back! Those are the kinds of things I have been doing for weeks now, and it is driving me (and my family) crazy.

Has anyone seen either Nancy Drew (the movie) or Nim's Island? I'm thinking tonight might be movie night.

I haven't seen either, but a movie night sounds great to me! Matthew and Laura are going to a pasta dinner at a teammates house tonight. Maybe I can talk Miles and dh into a movie that we haven't watched in a while.

This day keeps getting stranger and stranger. First my SIL won 2 more race tickets this morning on the radio. She asked her sister and BIL to go. Chris and I would have liked rode with them. Then a few minutes ago my Mom called and she was given 4 more tickets. Now Nick and Hunter will likely go too. We have no idea who is going when or with who :confused3 We are thinking that a free race is a good one to let the boys see if they like it.

Congrats on the tickets! I hope you have a great weekend!

It was pouring, but they still had a great time with Dunk Day. Miles dunked his gym teacher on the second ball, so he is happy.

anybody up for a read of the first draft of the "story"?

ETA: pm me your email address please!!

Deb congratulations on all the race tickets! I hope Hunter can enjoy the camping this weekend :wizard:

Elizabeth I hope you hear from your mother soon :wizard:

Tammi I have not seen either movie, but they both look good.

Theresa I would love to read your story!

Gary's work was called off today from the rain so we went to Menard's. We now how our kitchen floor(on sale, saved $100) & new back door(on clearance, saved $70) :yay: Next purchase will be the dishwasher :thumbsup2

Elin that sounds wonderful, can I come?

Deb poor Hunter, give him a  from me. Hope it clears up soon. :wizard:

Theresa, I don't know (of course I'm no expert) but I don't think a story is too outside the box.

Theresa I think you are off to a great start :thumbsup2

Because I am a nervous wreck over this, you can either read this or pass over it, but I would love everybody's opinions!!

A story involving the Boarding brothers, Snow and Skate, of Longhorn, Texas.

Snow & Skate Boarding are in the process of planning their annual Boarding family vacation when they get to reminiscing.

“Hey, Skate!”

“Yeah”

“Do you think we could go back to Colorado for skiing & snowboarding like we used to do with mom & dad when we were little?”

Skate replies, “Isn’t that kind of expensive for four hotel rooms and all of that food for 2 weeks?”

After just a few minutes of internet searching both come to the realization that they could rent a vacation home in Colorado for 2 weeks for less than 4 hotel rooms plus awesome perks. One of which would be a kitchen with all of the gadgets needed so that every arm of the family can take a night and mom can make some of her famous barbeque, yummy! Some of the facilities even had ski in and out access. The brothers decided that their youngest kids and wives would enjoy this feature best. Snow and Skate could stay out on the mountain while the kids came back to the house for a nap each day.

“What about staying somewhere other than Vail or Aspen, Snow?”

A little more digging and the boys realized that most of the resorts in Colorado have rentals that are easy to access. From Vail’s upscale villages to Monarch Mountain’s more laid back small town feel.

While the family loves each other, they don’t all like the same winter sport.

More research and they realized how much all of the resort areas had to offer. From ski and snowboarding lessons for the youngest Boardings, vast amounts of snowshoe trails for their sisters to the opportunity for the brothers to try out parachute skiing for the first time.

Being in a Colorado Vacation Home would make family board game night so much easier than what they have been doing in hotels. Gone is the silly card table in the corner of mom and dad’s room, in is a kitchen table for meals together and game playing. But, having separate bedrooms to have downtime is great too.

With the money they saved, the boys made reservations at a local snowmobile place for a guided snowmobile tour of Salida for the entire after choosing to stay near the Monarch Ski Resort. They also are planning to surprise their wives with a dinner at The Laughing Ladies Restaurant.
Epilogue:

After the awesome 2 weeks spent in the friendly town of Monarch, the brothers made Colorado their vacation destination. Each year they chose a different resort and vacation home to visit until they settled on Breckenridge. After 2 weeks there Skate and Snow both bought time with a local condominium group. They decided that they not only wanted to see beautiful Colorado in the winter, but the summer also.

As I watch the weather channel I am very fearful for the lives and homes of all those that are about to be effected by this storm. Please know that you are in our prayers and please do your best to stay out of harms way. :grouphug: :wizard:

I just read our school newsletter and there was a moment of silence at school

I have been so busy working this week that I haven't kept track of the news. I am just catching up with the news on TV. Prayers for those in Texas! Gas has already jumped by several dollars in surrounding areas.

I'm staying in Lansing this week-end. Major stuff happening at work.

I was about to hit "SUBMIT REPLY" with a L O N G brainstorming post but I think I already figured out where I want to spend the extra night in December.

One of my best WDW Christmas memories is of sitting in the Scat Cat lounge area in the early mornings drinking my coffee and listening to the Yamaha Disklavier player piano playing pre-recorded duets of holiday tunes. The software was recorded by two friends of mine and I would sit there reading and thinking of Shannon and Phillip. I want to start my trip this December feeling that way. So... off I go to book 12/21 at POFQ! After breakfast there (beignets... yum :goodvibes ) we can go on over to AKL and check in!

I think that sounds wonderful, Elin! :goodvibes

That is the most stupid name they could have come up with. :confused3

This made me laugh! Of course, I couldn't agree more!

My day was turned upside down :upsidedow Hunter was still complaining of an ear ache this morning so I called the ped at 7 AM and got a 9 AM appointment. I managed a load of laundry and beds made before we left. He does have an ear infection and the doctor commented on his high pain threshold :scared1: Thankfully he only started with it yesterday so it was a quick catch :thumbsup2 She called in a prescription so we headed to Kmart to pick it up and look for something tan for Nick. We found tan pants that he can wear to school afterwards:thumbsup2 Went to pick up the prescription, but she was having trouble getting the insurance to work. So I took him to the cafe for breakfast. He ate slowly, but at least he ate. Finally the prescription was ready. I took him to the car and gave him a does of antibiotics, ibuprophen and sudafed. Then off for a few groceries for the camper. Lots of goodies on clearance so no need to bake cookies  We headed to school and he turned in todays homework and got work for the weekend. Colby was out so we all came home. The 2 boys are napping in Hunter's room now. I need to finish packing the camper and picking up here. Chris should be home around 2 to hook on and we will leave as soon as Nick gets off the bus. My house is far from spotless, but there is no time to worry about that now

I hope Hunter feels better so quickly!

Look at me I'm in single digits. :dance3: :cheer2:

Hooray!

Two crying girls, I have to cut this short. I really logged on to let Elizabeth, Chanon and Glynis know to watch their mail! :goodvibes

Have a good afternoon, DDA!

Ok, there was just a news report on which had "Bankruptcy strands travellers" and it showed a bunch of people with suitcases in what looked like an airport. Anyone know what that might be about?
