On Elizabeth's train of thought I am going to jump......I am THRILLED that the DNC wrapped up last night!! It's been a rip roaring wierd time in CO...though if it works out right LHS might get some of the windfall to help pay for their trip to Takiyama, Japan next summer

I don't think I would want to be the host city for any of the conventions, the Olympics, the Super Bowl, or anything else of that magnitude. I don't like anything that might inconvenience me!

On the flip side, it would be cool if the band could get some funds for their trip!

Elin - You have a very good point. If there are people who actually need to be told that voting for one girl isn't the same as voting for the other one, then messages targeted to those people will fly right over their heads anyway.

Mom's oncologist is back at work. She said his son died from a combo of street drugs and alcohol. He was supposed to leave for boot camp 2 days later so he was partying with his friends and he stopped breathing. He was dead when the ambulance arrived. Poor oncologist spends every day trying to prevent people from dying (people who don't want to die, who are doing everything in their power NOT to die) and his son dies doing something stupid. Sad. I told Mom I do not want him coordinating her care if he is distracted but she said he seems OK. The young guy will oversee her first Taxol infusion because her regular guy is going on a cruise. He had the cruise booked before his son died, and I guess they have decided to go ahead and go. I hope he is able to find peace in all of this.

That is so sad.
Good thoughts for her oncologist.

I talked to Kristi's neighbor and that may be a possibility. I would be able to combine her with a friend of ours and probably be good. We're going to meet tomorrow and go from there. I also had a response from another family Kristi found on Craigslist. They are looking for 2 full days and 3 2hour days or 5 half days and have one 4yo boy. The timings for that job would work out really nicely for Terra and me and would also leave open the option to do MOPS. Plus, she seemed really excited about my email to her so that was nice too. Hopefully I will get a chance to talk to them today or tomorrow.

Ok I guess. I think my fever broke late yesterday (after thinking I took too many asprin but with 102.5 I needed to take them) and then had messed up dreams all night. Sleep wasn't the best (too hot, too cold, cat walked on me, cat sleeping on me, cat sleeping too close to my face, pillow too hot so I have to flip it) so when I actually wake up more I'm gonna hop into the shower and that normally makes me feel much better. I do have some running around to do today, but I don't plan on going anywhere until the floor stops spinning.

Yes -- we can also do the lunch thing -- I just put a credit card on the account so they charge money on it when the balance gets below $10. I never have to worry about it the rest of the school year. Our school uses something called RenWeb for communication with the teachers. They don't start using a system like this until sixth grade, so this is the first I've used it. The teachers sent out notes about homework, projects etc., and we're required to read it and hit a link so they know we've read it. We can also log on to the site to get homework, syllabus, etc. Like Elizabeth said, I just hope all Andrew's teachers actually use it!

Sea World San Antonio is where I learned that salt water and cameras don't mix, and when they say splash zone they really mean it. Have a great weekend

ditto and added prayers to Debbie that Gustav weakens. I was so proud of Robin Roberts on GMA this morning...she got ticked that all anybody was mentioning was New Orleans and made sure to tell the audience to remember everybody else that could be affected by the storm!!

Robin is a local girl, she is from Pass Christian, MS, which was devistated by Katrina. Her specials she did brought me to tears.

I agree that Gustav is going to demand our attention, regardless of who is running for which office. I hope something happens to make the system weaker, but I am not a meteorologist so I don't know if that is even possible. I guess they currently think it will hit to the west of NO as a category 3?

That's the current projected path, with a margin of error from Mobile, AL to Corpus Christi, TX. With the shift in the path they decided to scale down our pack up, we only had three trucks instead of eight, and are only moving the highest ticket merchandise.

With us it's been a roller coaster ride so far. Jacob and the twins are having a ball, but Katie will have a good day, then a bad day, then a good day, etc. It all depends on how much math homework she has. The stupid thing is that she knows how to do the math, but talks herself out of it, and then nothing that Alan or I can do will help her. She just closes off. I told her yesterday that if she needs math help, she needs to ask one of the 5 friends in her class that live in our neighborhood! They might have more patience for her "mood swings" than I do!

Is Katie 10 by any chance, that is the age I wanted send my girls back, they were obnoxious!

Boy oh boy do I have you all fooled! I can be a very hard nosed (I wanted to put another word in here but the DIS only printed *****) business woman. I voted to discontinue payment of those honoraria without regret.
