Wow. Now I don't mind not getting any dreams, when they go to people like this.

The reading teacher sent a supply list. I have a news flash for her. I am not sending anything other than Kleenex and paper towels to school. DS will have all of the supplies he needs FOR HIMSELF. He will bring them to class each day. He will not show up Sept. 2 with 10 pens, 10 pencils, and 2 packs of notebook paper.

When I was at the pool this weekend I saw one of the 1st grade teaching assistants, which are know here as Paraprofessionals . Anyway, I was asking her about the supply list, if everything gets pooled into supplies for the entire class. She said no, that each child's items (4 packs of crayons, pencils, etc.) go into a zippy bag labeled with their names. Each quarter they are given new stuff out of their bags (pencils on an as needed basis). This makes me feel a bit better, knowing that my supplies are going to my child, but I wish I just had to buy one pack of everything and then I would be notified when I need to send more stuff. I suppose it's easier this way for teachers, instead of notifying umteen mother's at different times, and then making sure the stuff gets sent in.

Good Morning DDA!

Leighanna doesn't like riding the bus, (big surprise ), so I guess I will be dropping her off and picking her up now.

She didn't get off the bus at home yesterday until almost 4. She gets out of school at 3. I think an hour on a bus is a bit too much for a first grader.

Agree with the idea that some Mom's prefer the helpless (worthless) children. Chris' mother is a prime example. We are very self sufficient and don't need her for things like money, shelter, food, etc. His sister and her children and grandchildren can't keep a job or a place to live, get knocked up just for the welfare checks, but she loves to give give give to them. She also choses boyfriends that are alcoholics or other abusers as she can be their enabler. She must be an enabler to have self worth, but then complains constantly about them I can see it, but I can't understand it.

Hmm.... maybe on the flipside, the challenge of "feeling needed" to a self-sufficient child makes some Mom's (or MILs) go overboard TRYING to be needed? Interesting....

I love how the blue ribbon helped to unify the look. It ties in well with the comforter and bureau and makes the curtains blend better with the walls. In my opinion of course

Deb, I REALLY like it. I think seeing photos of the rest of the room (did I miss those yesterday? ) help tie it together for me. The dresser, etc with additional yellow help a lot, and you're right - the tiebacks bring everything together nicely. I'm so impressed! (But not at all surprised! )

I figured I'd be all sappy this morning. Strangely it was Chris that got sappy, but more that Nick was going into 7th grade, Junior High that got him The boys really did change over the summer. Nick changed the most, but Colby looked more like a first or second grader than a kindergartner

I never would have thought tie-backs would make that much of a difference, but it does look different! I like it!

I have curtains for our bedroom but we just have the valance up. I know the cats would shred the curtains. Besides, I need a "double" rod so the curtains hang behind the valance and I never got around to buying one.

For whatever reason the elementary supply list didn't yank my chain like it does in middle school. I guess I am still angry about 1) the teacher who took DS's entire bag of supplies (I mean a bag FULL, every item on the list) and put it in her cabinet. He never saw a single item out of that bag again. Then the math teacher who required a REAM of COLORED copy paper. That cost me like $8, and then they moved DS to another math class! DH said he was going to go in and demand the ream of paper be returned to us, but I told him to shut up. We just won't make those mistakes again.

I sat down last night and wrote a check for PTA dues and athletic assn. booster. I will have to buy a PE uniform, rent a percussion kit (another mistake we made last year because the band director does NOT communicate well - we rented from the music store and had to pay monthly when we could have rented from the school and paid a flat rate for the year), DS has to pay for a locker (he isn't sure how much), he has to buy a planner for $1, not sure what other expenses are coming down the pike. Considering all of that, there is no way I am sending bags of supplies.

DS is a little intimidated by the reading teacher. He said he doesn't think she will be nice. He is worried about what she will say if he doesn't show up with a bag of supplies. I told him to VERY POLITELY tell her to please contact his mom if she asks why he hasn't brought his supplies.

He said the PE teacher/coach told him he could play football. Um, hello? NO, he can NOT play football. He is fast, but he is less than half the size of those other kids! I would much rather have him drumming at the games - not on the field being stomped into the turf! Luckily it has never been his intention to play football so he doesn't care that the coach said he can play.

The band director told the kids they will be required to audition for all-city band. I need to get more info on that because I might not want him in all-city band! See how the band guy does NOT communicate? I hate that!

Colby's home. He had a terrific day Tomorrow he will have a full recess When the teacher rings the classroom bell you have to "freeze" then look at the teacher real fastly to make sure she sees you. When you are frozen you can blink and beathe though I have a feeling I'll get a lot of stories this afternoon.

I am trying to sort out how to do our ressie for next summer. We have enough points for 7 nights in a concierge studio, but we'll be there for 9 or 10 nights so I need to figure out how I want to cover the remaining nights. OF COURSE the stupid WDW site doesn't work.

It appears that a studio at Kidani is WAY cheaper ($335) than a studio at Jambo ($410). Those are just the base prices listed on the page where you choose a resort. Strange. Of course the prices may be wrong. I guess I could call MS and ask about it. But if we are paying cash maybe we should do those cash nights at Kidani! (After I swore no more split stays. )

I can't wait to get Cassidy her own bed again...only so I can sleep the whole night through. She lets out a whole lot more information as she's falling asleep There is a senior she's crushing on and from what I can tell he's reciprocating (why else create a club and make a girl the VP? )


I also just got off the phone with Chanon....she's one of the few whose voice sounds NOTHING like it does in my head . Glynis-do you know anything about the Candlewood Suites on North Temple??

Hmm. Well, somebody has wrong information. I just called MS and they said Kidani studios start at $380 per night for standard view (non-discounted price). Theoretically, that should be the price on the WDW site for guests booking through CRO. But it's not. Weird.

I think the girl at Member Services was giving me pricing for Regular season, and I was looking at Value. Perhaps that is why the prices are all out of whack?

At any rate, I am going to be pricing it out through MS and CRO. If I can get the same room cheaper then I am going to change the ressie!

She actually is enjoying herself! The hardest part for her is getting up by 9:00 a.m. and having to be in bed by 1:00 a.m. I think when her normal hours of 12-6 instead of 10-6:15 start she will be even happier. Thanks for asking!!
