DDA Chapter 11

We have Molly's meet the teacher tonight at preschool. I found out that she has my niece's former teacher and I am quite excited. She has the reputation at the school as the "Mean Lisa", there are 2 Lisa's. But she really isn't mean, she is just firm and I think a lot of people mistake that for mean. I think Mo will come a long way this year.

Emma has her 1st Girl Scout meeting tomorrow night. I think this year will be a good year but a challenging one for me and the 3 other Brownie parents, we have to take turn leading the meetings, which should be interesting to say that least. The blind leading the blind is what comes to mind! At our parent meeting we all discussed what we wanted to get out of the year and everyone wants to do more group sponsored activities so the girls can get a chance to socialize outside of the meetings. One of the things we are looking into is a trip to Charm City cakes with Duff!!! One the moms said her daughter saw an episode and there was a troop at the shop where they got a hands on lesson and got to make their own little cakes. I hope that they can get that scheduled, it would be so much fun.

Did I mention that neither of the girls are playing soccer this fall!!! :yay: Molly is doing ballet and Emma wants to play the violin in school so we sort of pushed them to give up soccer for the season. If they want to play in the spring we'll sign them up but I think it will be great (for all of us) to take a break. I am excited that we won't have to spend the whole weekend at the fields. But it's not like our calendar isn't full.

Robyn yah for Molly getting a good teacher.

Have you heard of American Heritage Girls? I am trying to decide between them and girl scouts for Olivia.

Marci great 1st day of school picture!

Robyn :yay: for no soccer!

Chanon congratulations!

Tia good luck with the phone interview!

Jen I hope you hear something tonight!

Deb I hope you & Chris can figure out a way to make it to the race.

Glynis I think I would leave the painting to Alan ::yes::

Theresa hope your day improved!

Elizabeth glad to hear you are feeling better. The slurred speech sounds a little scary though, if that happens again you need to call a Dr.!

School starting back up & football is wearing Riley out. They have practice everyday after school unless they have a game(which is only once a week). But the games that are out of town are really out of town! The farthest one is over 2 hours away  I think I am going to see about carpooling with one of the other mothers as Gary does not get home from work in time to go.

Riley is sleeping right now, hope he sleeps tonight.

Loved all the first day of school pictures, and the football ones too. All the kids looked great!

We are officially in panic mode her on the coast, the latest projected path of Gustav has it pretty much following the same path as Katrina and making landfall Monday evening or Tuesday morning. They predict it will strenghten to a cat. 3 by the time it makes landfall.

People are out stocking up on supplies and gasing up their cars, I'm just sick to my stomach. I know it's the chance you take when you live where I do, but this one has all the heartache from Katrina flooding back.

I also get angry when I watch the news and they talk about what a tragedy Katrina was to New Orleans. Not that what happened in New Orleans wasn't horrible, but the storm actually hit Mississippi and destroyed the coast. Hundreds of people were killed and thousands of homes were completely destroyed. New Orleans flooded because the levies broke after the storm.

As soon as we could get away after the storm we spent the weekend in Panama City Beach, the girl at the desk asked me if the storm affected Mississippi much. :confused3

Sorry about the rant . . . .

Oh, Debbie! My heart is breaking for you! You are in my prayers, and if the power of the DDA can do anything, maybe Gustav will weaken or move pathways very quickly! Please let me know if there's anything I can do!

Debbie lot's of good thoughts coming your way

That's a difficult schedule! Hopefully he will adjust to it! I ahven't heard anything about football games yet. I am assuming the band will have to go to the games. Guess we'll see!

Debbie, I hope everything will be OK with your neighborhood! Hopefully it will lose some strength and change direction! :wizard: :wizard:

Thanks guys, maybe the power of the DDA can make it either fizzle out, or head into the part of Mexico that is virtually uninhabited so that no one is harmed.

My neighborhood normally fairs pretty well in the storms, DH has the theory that with so much "gone" south of us that we may not do as well in the future. My freezer is stocked full, so if we lose power for any length of time we will be hosting a huge BBQ.

Since all kiddos are back in school (they are right??) it's time to think about Christmas;)

It's the 3rd annual DDA Ornament Exchange!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

PM me:

Name:
Age: (only needed for kiddos and for Chanon, since she seems to think I'm eligible for AARP:lmao: )
address:
Favorite Disney character, movie, ride:
any other favorites or stuff that shouldn't be sent:

how many exchanges and whether adult/kid/either:

Please fill out seperate information for each member of your family doing the exchange.

I will close this out on the 14th of September...that should give everybody enough time to get to me and me enough time to get info out to people before the next DDA flood to the World!

OK now, I said I'm sorry! I go through my "normal hotel booking mode" and that consists of key questions...AAA, AARP, military, etc etc..it's just habit!

I had to do this when the boys were playing baseball, not fun when you want to see both!
