DDA Chapter 11

So tonight I got to take Nicholas to his football practice. He's been playing for a few weeks now, but since I've been away this was the first time I've gone. Boy, I think we are in for a long season. He was pretty good at soccer, but I think he's in for an awakening. The age group is 8, 9 and 10. He is the smallest kid out there and probably won't get played that much. He seems to be enjoying it, so I talked to him about not expecting much and just taking the year to learn the game. We'll see how it goes.

This is Riley's 1st year playing football & they had their 1st game today after school. They lost 24 - 34, but I thought that was not to bad. He seems to be really enjoying it. I am scared to death that he will get hurt though :faint:

Good luck to Nicholas!

I'm glad everyone is getting back into the routine of school with good days.

Elizabeth - hope you staved off your headache.

Jen - continued :wizard:

My kids' teacher assignments came today. They both got who they were hoping for, and I'm pleased with the assignments. Alyssa has the same 1st grade teacher that Nicholas had, so that makes it easy for me, already knowing her. Nicholas has a male teacher for the first time, which I think will be good for him. Thursday is back to school night.

My boys had that experience with Lacrosse last year. We chocked it up to a learning experience. They've been practicing at home this year (especially Hunter who was the smallest on the field). Hopefully they will play more next year.

Some pictures from tonight...

That's a good score for the first game!

We can worry together. :grouphug:

Thanks Vicki.

Truth be told never thought about her feeling needed. She raised us to be very independent and to not need someone.
Of course I have heard her say more then once she thinks she raised us to be to independent. :confused3

I was also raised to be very independent and raised my girls to be the same. As my mother learns about my financial struggles to put myself through school, it has really bothered her (I learned not to tell her even though I'm through those years). She wishes that I had went to her (even though they were struggling at the same time). I tried telling her that she raised me to be independent and I got myself through it which is what she raised me to do. I didn't understand why it bothered her until my girls got older. It is a very fine line that you walk between raising independent kids and the feeling of being needed as a mother.

Nice picture. I don't think I ever realized how much your kids look alike. No doubting that they are siblings:goodvibes

I can cry at a drop of a hat!!!! I cry at commercials.:lmao:

I know something you can take for that! :lmao:

Seriously, that is when I decided it was time to head to the doctors to be checked for depression. I was crying at the little Downy bear bouncing on the laundry. I decided that obviously things were a little whacked in my brain. I mean I was practially inconsolably sobbing at the cute little bear. :confused3

It's nice reading about all the kids first days of school and seeing the pictures. You all have beautiful children. I'm in Big Rapids dropping Becky off for school. We move her in tomorrow morning. She is so excited and I'm happy for her but sad for myself. I wanted her to go off to school but did she have to pick one 7 hours away from home? :confused3 Luckily, it is only about an hour out of my way when I go to Lansing. After driving all the hours to Lansing what is another hour to see my baby? :lovestruc

I'm off to sleep. I'm sure it will be a long day tomorrow. After moving Becky in, I'm heading to Lansing for meetings.

my mom has been feeling this way, not financially, but emotionally I know. I told her she raised me to be this way...so it's all her fault;)

Good morning. :)

I think we are finally in for some rain today.

Sounds like someone was ready! :rotfl:

What a neat picture of the kids together.

I have my annual state board meeting for the Virginia Federation of Music Clubs today and tomorrow. I am driving my boss' van since her right knee still bothers her when she drives for any period of time. She is the state treasurer and has many boxes of paperwork that won't fit into my new little car!

Her knee replacement seems to have gone well, and her PT appears to be strengthening the knee but the continual bending of that knee gets painful after a long bout of driving.

I will have my laptop with me but I don't know how much time I will have to check in. I hope you all have great days. :goodvibes

Tammi, Nicholas looks cute, but so out of place.
