DDA Chapter 10

Today has been a really fun day! The kids and I got up really early to go stake out our spots for the Alpine Days parade. We got prime spots in the shade, and then got the twins to the head of the parade so they could ride on their aunt's float. They love that! Katie and Jacob opted to stay with me and gather candy thrown to the crowd.

The parade was fun and we ended up with a 2 gallon ziploc baggie full to the top of candy, beads, bouncy balls and finger puppets. After we finished up there, we went to the city park where the kids proceeded to bounce on all kinds of bouncy slides and watery slides. They got SOAKED! But it was a hot day, so no problem there!

We bought some lunch (pizza for the kids, bbq sandwich for me), then snow cones for dessert. By then, I was getting tired, so we headed for home. Got home in time to watch the Olympics and rest.

Now the kids are eating dinner, and I'm waiting for the Olympics to start again. Got to cheer Michael Phelps on!!!

awesome day, Glynis!!

Well, I think I am about as ready as I can be. I got everything in the suitcases, it's just going to take some reorganization the morning of our flight.

I still feel like I'm forgetting something though.

Camera??? :rolleyes1

So today I got stung by a bee or yellow jacket at the kick off. I hope I am getting this wackiness out of my system. I can not have this on my trip.

I have hardly accomplished anything towards my trip. It is so much harder since I am gimpy. I also am not motivated to do much of anything.

Hi all, I'm home from work. They can show swimming now.;)

They are just finishing up beach volleyball. It has been raining a lot so they can probably be considered swimming given they are wearing swimming suits and there is lots of water.;) :lmao: :rotfl:

It is back to men's gymnastics and then men's swimming?

Glad you are home from work

glad you liked my humor. I'm just glad I got home before Michael swam for his medal. I was able to watch the prelims at work today.

...and the goods! Quite a bit off the registry and only one duplicate! Bob and I are excited to go to Home Depot tomorrow!!! (I'm off to go wash my new sheets!)

Tia did you book a package thru AAA?

If so are you planning on doing the Disney’s Story Time experience?

I did, but am not a AAA member. Will that matter? Chanon?

Thanks for the update Deb

It reminds me....I just finished another email interview...and I called on another job with a different head hunter which just wouldn't work out for me (too long of a commute). Craig's list has been the best resource for me...I've been applying for about a dozen jobs a week...on my terms. One of them is bound to work out!!

Good luck with all of the app. I hope the right thing comes through for you really soon.

Tia - I got my CD today. THANK YOU! I am listening to it as I read. :goodvibes

I got yours today! Thank you so much. I haven't gotten a chance to listen yet as our computer is on the fritz again! I'm using Dad's laptop right now, but hopefully he will be able to get the desktop working again tomorrow

hi guys-
Just thought i would update you. I just spent a few hours in the emergency room. I was having a tough time last night and this mornign so i rested. When i finally woke up , around 1030 or 11ish, i went downstairs to get more ice. I came out of the bathroom and passed out, landing face first on he ceremic tile floor. I cut my chin and was knocked out about 20-30 seconds. My brother got me sitting up and i came to. We called the ambulance to come and get me and headed to the hospital.
So i have 7 stitches in my chin, a bunch of little cuts all over my lips, got a ct scan and im sore...again

My surgeon found out (we called theo ffice) and he left office hours to come check on me. He was going to stitch me up but they were alraedy started on it.

So now im home and resting somewhat comfortably...;so there is the update...

Oh no! I hope you are feeling better tonight. I really hope there isn't a broken bone involved. :wizard:

Hi, everyone. Sorry to be MIA. Life is BUSY! Surgery went very well, and I my panties are dry all the time now! ;) :thumbsup2 :cool1: School starts Monday for the kids, and I started work this past Monday. We just finished packing up all the kids' supplies for Monday. We met their teachers yesterday, and I hear that we have the top 3 2nd grade teachers (sucking up to the right people pays off!). They are super excited. BK got a new HSM lunch box and a Camp Rock backpack. The boys are sticking with their blue and orange from last year. We went to dinner tonight to celebrate going back to school since I work Sat and Sun nights. They are letting me leave an hour early so I can be home to put them on the bus the 1st day.

Work Wed night was great. They gave me 3 babies, and I was amazed how much I remembered. Everyone seems nice. I am looking forward to being with the sicker babies in 8 weeks as I like all the gadgets and gizmos. Life is just crazy busy, and I am trying to sleep whenever possible. I still am sick, so I went back to the doctor today. On another 2 weeks of antibiotics, inhalers (I'm wheezing pretty bad), etc. Pray it kicks it!

This week I work Sat, Sun nights, orientation for the NICU for 8 hours (day) on Tuesday. Then for the next 3 weeks I work Sat, Sun, Mon night and have 8 hour NICU class on Friday days. I may not be on a ton as I adjust back to the working world.

Have a great weekend, y'all!

So glad to hear from you! I'm glad that the new job is going well for you. Wish the kids a good first day of school!

Thanks for all the welcome homes. I got 3 loads of laundry done (1 more to go). We started watching the Olympics and I'm finding that my kids are just at the right age to soak up all the info about the country and the events. Nicholas studies China this past year so he is very interested. Then I gave them the Epcot Passports that I made (thanks Deb!) and we flipped through all of the countries, talking about the flags and the clothes. They are very excited to have them stamped at all the Kidcot stations. Now they are in bed, and so am I. It is so nice to be in my own bed!

Welcome home! Way to go getting the packing done so quickly! In case I miss you guys later in the week, have a most wonderful trip!

So, what is everyone's favorite sport?

Gymnastics.

What has been your favorite moment so far during the opening ceremonies?

The fireworks and the boxes that moved up and down.

My favorites are gymnastics, swimming and diving. I'm interested in seeing the 14year old diver. Can't remember if he was US or UK. My favorite part of the ceremony was all of the synconized moves - boxes, yellow flags and the lighted dancers.

The girls are doing ok.... on the mend, but they had pretty far to go, so still not great  The vomiting has let up, so now we're just at diarrhea, fevers, colds and reflux. We're getting somewhere :rotfl: They slept a TON today, so hopefully that helped! :goodvibes:

Hope tomorrow finds the girls doing much better!

Invites are addressed! Now to close all the envelopes and verify that the envelopes are written correct and stamp them. If you see me posting anymore - make sure I get this done!!!

Yeah! I can't believe it's that close!

Hey, DDA! Just popping in to ask for pixie dust for my mom.

Her breast is infected. I have no idea how that would happen, since it has been so long since her surgery. She said it is red and inflamed, and the redness was spreading. She went to the doctor today and they put her on antibiotics. She was already on Cipro, now she is on Bactrim. Her surgeon wasn't in the office today, but the physician's assistant consulted with another surgeon in the practice and they decided on Bactrim in case it is MRSA. :scared:

She was doing so well. :sad2: Now I am really worried about her. Please keep her in your thoughts!

Lots of prayers and thoughts going her way.

Sure! (And hey, my WDW ticker isn't showing up.... darn signature cut-off!)

It's our "vacation". We aren't going anywhere because I gave up 60% of our income :headache: so I was just calling it a vacation at home. But of course, while I'm at home, it's not like I'm off of work or anything.... so vacation didn't seem right. :rotfl: Anyway, in October, Kyle is off for 2 weeks. He picked the latest Fall block available so the girls will be a bit older and more interactive. It will be wonderful to just spend time with him, but we also have lots of fun things planned around the city/general vicinity, most with the girls, some without -- Segways, Duck tour (of our own city :rotfl: ), golf, apple picking, Fall Festivals, a weekend at our Alma Mater (parks, football game, concerts, etc), Zoos..... it's shaping up to be a fun "trip"! :)

It all sounds really nice. I know that you'll have a wonderful time together.

Things with Mo aren't so great today. She is having a hard time swallowing so she pretty much refuses to drink. It's so hard to get her to understand that she needs to drink in order for it to not hurt worse than it already does. She is looking rather pathetic.

I hope that tonight and tomorrow finds her feeling a lot better. Loads of :wizard: and prayers.

Hi everyone! Back from the shower! MoH decorated and did the theme - the cake was just SO CUTE! (Well, everything was cute!) I'll post a pic of the gift she got me - so you can see more detail - but her gift is in the last photo!

Such cute ideas! Looks like a lot of fun.

Bernie Mac died this morning from Pneumonia. He was 51

I saw that. It hit Phil a little as the sarcoidosis they mention Bernie Mac having is the diagnosis the doctors are talking about for him right now.

The kid they just showed on the pummel horse is from Highlands Ranch (next town over) and was an alternate. He rocked the pummel!!!:goodvibes

I saw him! Amazing! Just saw Phelp as well. Even more amazing!

I want the crock pot carry bag!! That would be so cool. It's wonderful to not have duplicates. Enjoy your new sheets. :goodvibes

I hate being behind you all all of the time but more so when we are watching the same show. :goodvibes

My favorite Olympic sports (since I forgot to answer): men's swimming and diving and women's gymnastics (and a few others...I don't like the track and field). I am not a big fan of the winter games.

moment: watching Nadia and Mary Lou Retton and a few of the others that have been mentioned.
