What is your most memorable moment you remember while watching any Olympic Games?

for me two--- The 1972 Olympics when Jim McKay was comentating during when the hostages were being held. Hal and I were in Hawaii and that was the only thing that was live. We were glued to the TV every day. Anything else except the news was always a week behind.

Watching Mary Lou Retton win in Gymnastics. ---I loved gymnastics and participated during high school so I had a particular love for it. That moment moved me to tears. Again Hal and I were glued to the TV.

I loved watching Kerri Strug land her second vault on one foot (her other ankle was injured) to lead the women's team to gold in 1996. She really defined the word 'athlete'.

I remember that too, Terry. And in my memories the coverage was interspersed with Vietnam War coverage. Very sad.

Bob and I started watching the Olympics together in 1976. We would rush home from work, throw food together and head to bed to watch until we fell asleep.

I get home from work and after having a really bad day, I see the doors are WIDE open!!!!!!

My hubby did not call me to tell me that he was gonna spray paint the speakers he has been building. How much earlier he left before I got home, I have no idea. Good thing I was really hurting so I came right home instead of stopping for a drink and something to eat. I really wanted to, but my mouth was really hurting today, so I just went home. Had to take some migraine medicine since the smell was really bad.

Sometimes, he really drives me to drink!!! The gin and tonic was really good tho

I think my favorite portion of any Olympics is the vignettes of the athletes from around the world. I love getting to know them and find myself cheering them on!

Let's see:

Jennifer (blueeyes) - had her tonsils out and is having a hard time recovering.

Jennifer (bear) - has a yeast infection which is making nursing icky, but medication is clearing it up.

Jennifer (tink) - is still dealing with sick twins, but hopefully they're on the upswing.

Becky - finished her shirts, and is getting excited for her trip out West.

Elizabeth - keeps updating her TR.

Robyn's Molly - had surgery yesterday and is home and recovering nicely.

Elin - returned from her training and is a little more excited for the new program.

Anyone else have anything to fill in with? I know I've missed people.

hi guys-
Just thought i would update you. I just spent a few hours in the emergency room. I was having a tough time last night and this mornign so i rested. When i finally woke up , around 1030 or 11ish, i went downstairs to get more ice. I came out of the bathroom and passed out, landing face first on he ceremic tile floor. I cut my chin and was knocked out about 20-30 seconds. My brother got me sitting up and i came to. We called the ambulance to come and get me and headed to the hospital.
So i have 7 stitches in my chin, a bunch of little cuts all over my lips, got a ct scan and im sore...again

My surgeon found out (we called theo ffice) and he left office hours to come check on me. He was going to stitch me up but they were alraedy started on it.

So now im home and resting somewhat comfortably...;so there is the update...

OMG Jen. Get better!!!

I always liked when ABC did the coverage. My own opinion was that they did the best commentating during the Olympics. The best coverage.

What kinds of things did they write in the passports in their native languages? Things like "hello" or the kids' names?

Some wrote little greetings while others just wrote hello. It really depended on the CM that was signing.

So, what is everyone's favorite sport?

Gymnastics.

The fireworks and the boxes that moved up and down.

I love to watch swimming, diving and gymnastics. Really I will enjoy any olympic event though I normally hate to watch sports on tv

My most memorable moments came from the 1988 Winter Games. I can vividly remember watching the Battle of the Brians (Brian Boitano and Brian Orser) with my grandmother. I can see myself sitting on her couch and her in her chair, both of us rooting Brian Boitano on. We loved to watched all the figure skating competitions together. We were also captivated with Alberto Tomba, the skier from Italy.

My favorites to watch are: figure skating, skiing, the luge in the winter games. In the summer, gymnastics and swimming.

Hi Denise!!!

My leg is still attached it has not fallen off yet. I'm still hobbling around and gimpy. It doesn't hurt, its more annoying then anything. I have to be careful with the walking boot as I keep running my other ankle bone into the back of it. Other parts of my body hurt more as I am using them more or in different ways then normal.

No problem! I started threads just looking for suggestions, and never thought the v50.net guy would offer help, and someone would pick it up so quickly!


The girls are doing ok.... on the mend, but they had pretty far to go, so still not great The vomiting has let up, so now we're just at diarrhea, fevers, colds and reflux. We're getting somewhere They slept a TON today, so hopefully that helped! :

Hi, everyone. Sorry to be MIA. Life is BUSY! Surgery went very well, and I my panties are dry all the time now! School starts Monday for the kids, and I started work this past Monday. We just finished packing up all the kids' supplies for Monday. We met their teachers yesterday, and I hear that we have the top 3 2nd grade teachers (sucking up to the right people pays off!). They are super excited. BK got a new HSM lunch box and a Camp Rock backpack. The boys are sticking with their blue and orange from last year. We went to dinner tonight to celebrate going back to school since I work Sat and Sun nights. They are letting me leave an hour early so I can be home to put them on the bus the 1st day.

Work Wed night was great. They gave me 3 babies, and I was amazed how much I remembered. Everyone seems nice. I am looking forward to being with the sicker babies in 8 weeks as I like all the gadgets and gizmos. Life is just crazy busy, and I am trying to sleep whenever possible. I still am sick, so I went back to the doctor today. On another 2 weeks of antibiotics, inhalers (I'm wheezing pretty bad), etc. Pray it kicks it!

This week I work Sat, Sun nights, orientation for the NICU for 8 hours (day) on Tuesday. Then for the next 3 weeks I work Sat, Sun, Mon night and have 8 hour NICU class on Friday days. I may not be on a ton as I adjust back to the working world.

Thanks for all the welcome homes. I got 3 loads of laundry done (1 more to go). We started watching the Olympics and I'm finding that my kids are just at the right age to soak up all the info about the country and the events. Nicholas studies China this past year so he is very interested. Then I gave them the Epcot Passports that I made (thanks Deb!) and we flipped through all of the countries, talking about the flags and the clothes. They are very excited to have them stamped at all the Kidcot stations. Now they are in bed, and so am I. It is so nice to be in my own bed!

What cool timing, to go (and have the passports) after watching today's ceremony!
