DD - Weak Bladder question?

Ok..so I went upstairs to see what DD was doing..and she's just playing.. but I stepped on something wet... I said "Whats that wet for" and she looked at me funny.. I said "Why is that wet".. She looked at me sheepishly and said "I wet myself"... Now...she does this ALOT when she laughs...if her sister or anyone get her laughing hard, she has no bladder control whatsoever... but, although she said sissy made her laugh, I don't think that was the case..I didnt' hear laughing...and her sister is downstairs here watching ANnie while she was up there...
DD is 8 yrs old....even if it is caused from laughing (which has been the case 98% of the time), should I get it checked out? I never thought it to be a problem til just now...... ?

I would absolutely get it checked out. What if she has something as simple as a urinary tract infection?

I had this problem since I was your daughter age. Even if I wited to long, last minute as I was busy, walking home from school, but mostly laughing. I never aout grew it and it is terribley embarassing. i always have to put pad in my pants.
Now after four children it is worse, when I get up in the AM, and get out of bed, pressure can make me leak.

As I child I would never allow my mother take me to a doctor, as I got older, I never felt there was anything but Keggel ex to take care of it, but that did not help.

Now, coughing, sneezing, stressful lifting, many inciidents set it off. I mentioned it once to gyn, and she suggested a gyn specialist that does urological disorders.
at 50+ I feel not worth the embarassment anymore if any thign really could be done.

When I was younger...if I laughed real hard.. I would 'laugh so hard I peed my pants'... but it was rare...like..maybe once a year...
She' does it at least once a week or two...
She never complains about anything that would make me believe UTI..but, of course, I'm not a dr either...
I've just heard of weak bladders..my stepmom is like you disneymarie... so, didn't know how common it was, so just lookin for stories and advice

It's not normal for a child this age to be having frequent accidents. I would make a doctor's appointment and have it looked into.

It may be that she just doesn't want to stop what she's doing, so waits too long, but she might have a problem that needs medical attention. Or an emotional problem.

But regardless, it has to be dealt with if only to prevent embarrassment.

I agree you should have an eval at the docs, hopefully there is something simple they would be able to help her with. This must be terribly embarassing and if it were me or my DD I would try to get it taken care of now before it gets (possibly) worse.

It may but she won't let you know. My DGD has had accidents lately, she did not even know until it was too late. She changed and put her things on the wash but acted like it was nothing. She was really mortified, especially when it happened in school. She is under the Dr care, she has had UTI's althought they do not show positive, an ultrasound that shows a little reflux, and has an appointment with a pediatric urologist on Tuesday. Kids will not always let you know that they are embarrassed, they keep it hidden, The accident is bad enough, letting the shame show is not going to happen.
