My 5 year old DD wants to wear one of her princess dresses next week when we are at WDW. What do you suggest? Is it practical to let her wear it all day? We are staying at the AKL, so I don't want to plan on taking her back to change 1 hour after we get to the park. (I hear it is a long ride to and from AKL) What park would be best for her to wear it. Are there going to be other girls with them on?

Our daughter's wore their princess costumes to Disney a few years back. More specifically, they wore them to Magic Kingdom! What we did was brought a change of clothes for them in the backpack so when they were tired of wearing their princess dresses they could easily change. My niece also wore a princess dress to MK, but she wore her clothes under her dress.

We've seen lots of little princesses walking around all the parks on our various trips and we've always thought the little girls looked so cute! princess: princess:

Enjoy!

My daughter wore her Snow White dress for an entire day, and we hopped between the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. She loved it, those we walked by loved it, and of course, Snow White loved it, too.

The security gentleman at the entrance to the Magic Kingdom was looking through our backpack and told her he would make sure no one brought any poison apples into the park that day. That made her giggle.

I say go for it!

My 5DD is going to wear her Cinderella gown while we're doing the CRT breakfast at Cindy's.

Once we're done she & I are going back to the car so she can change. I'm hoping it won't take too long. My parents are going with us so we'll have a handicap permit which should allow us to park relatively close to the front of the lot. I figure we'll head back down Main St, catch the monorail back to the parking lot, find our van, change, jump on the monorail again, enter the MK and find the rest of our party. It's just this one day so I don't mind the extra trouble.

She won't be able to wear her gown all day because we plan on getting soaked (SM, Donald's boat, etc.)

Why not just bring the extra change of clothes in and put them in a locker? It will be a lot quicker to change in the park after breakfast.

My DD's (then 4 ) first visit last year we did not bring any princess dresses & I felt horrible when we got there & saw lots of little ones wearing them!! :guilty: This time she is bringing 3 !! Im not worried about her wanting to change out of them, she would wear them 7 days a week if she could!! princess:
30 Days & counting!!

My DD3 would start off everyday wearing hers. Had her clothes on underneath. She usually took off the dress after a couple of hours. At the princess' breakfast, most of the girls had theirs' on. I wish she would've kept it on for the princess' character meets', it would have been a cute pic.

We will also be there when you are there, and our DD 3 will be wearing hers, and I will be bringing a change of clothes. I must bring in a chang anyway in case of an accident, and then also, we will be bringing in a fleece sweatsuit because the nights get cold. Just either put the extras in the bottom of the stroller, or in a locker. Much easier than trekking back to any hotel. She will be bringing Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Tinkerbell, and a girl Pirate dress, as well as two cheerleading outfits to route on our beloved Patriots. I say go for it, and hope for wonderful pictures! (we had an accident in our Cinderella dress just minutes before meeting Cinderella in September, so we are hoping for the best this time around!) ;)

My DD has worn the princess dresses to the parks, but usually it lasts maybe a few hours. We always take a change of clothes in a backpack for when she decides that enough is enough. Rides are a bit of a problem to navigate while in the dresses, too! I would let her, though... afterall, once she requires an adult ticket they may not let her.

MK is the park to where them to. Bring an extra change of clothes in your backpack for her and please have her her sneakers (little white ones with cute socks are cute) with them. Don't take the chance of blisters and sore feet. Have fun, and I sure wish we had a trip in the making!

Go E-A-G-L-E-S!!!

DD was 5 the last time we went and she wore her Belle costume to the Princess Breakfast, afterwards we just rolled it up into a large ziplock bag and stuck it into our backpack (the wrinkles came out nicely with some smoothing when we got home), and she changed into shorts/tank top. I would have let her wear it all day, but it was really HOT that day and she opted for the shorts. We got a ton of super cute pictures!

Let her wear it as long as she wants to.

But bring a change of clothes with you just in case she wants to change.

And dont forget to bring comfy shoes if she is wearing "Princess Shoes" to.

At MNSSHP last Oct, my DN, then 2 3/4 yo wore the Cindy dress I had made her, from about 2pm till after midnight. It had a full underdress like a square dance underskirt, and the 3/4 lenght gloves. She wore it to the Cindy dinner at the GF and then the party. Never took the gloves off, or the dress, and ate a full meal, rode rides, and did every thing for hours. It was a lot heavier then the ones you buy at DWD, but it is also washable. I ended up stenciling the fabric to look like brocade, boned the sleeves to make them stand up, used 300-400 crystals, and painted the shoes to match. Made the "gloves" out of nylon girls knee socks.
The point is that some kids can stand being all dressed up and some don't like it. My DD did at some ages, didn't at others. We always carry a change of clothes when we dressed the kids up.
Go have fun, and if she loves it great, if she changes her mind mid day change her clothes.

My dd 4 and dd6 talked me into letting them bring their sleeping beauty, cinderella and minnie mouse outfits last trip. They loved wearing them (kept them on much longer then I thought they would) and we have tons of great photos. I just brought a change of clothing and let them change whenever they wanted. On the Minnie mouse day they insisted on wearing the matching shoes -- they came off soon after entering the park, about an hour later the gloves came off, then the ears and by mid day they were in shorts. They had lots of fun dressing up and loved the special attention they received. :) Hope you have a magical time!

I just came back and saw a ton of little girls all dressed up! The most popular ones I saw were Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty. I saw a couple Belles and even one girl dressed as Meg from Hercules. On Thursday night after eating at Ohana's I saw a little boy as Peter Pan it was really darling!

Once we're done she & I are going back to the car so she can change. I'm hoping it won't take too long. My parents are going with us so we'll have a handicap permit which should allow us to park relatively close to the front of the lot.

I would consider renting a locker. Suprisingly the handicap lots at the parks aren't always the closest lot. There's also no tram to and from the handicap lots to the park entrance. We found the location of the handicap parking lots suprising last Spring when we took my MIL and her ECV. She would of never been able to walk that distance. At the end of the day it was soooo far to walk!!!

Thank you eeyore 0062 :) I was very reluctant to bring the princess/minnie outfits but am glad I did and will definetly pack them next trip.
