Went to the dentist today for her reg cleaning. She has been going since 3 YO. The poor kid she is 6 almost 7 and has horrible teeth! She had very high fevers as a baby and has weakend enamal on all of her back teeth plus he feels her syliva (SP) is very high in acid and is causing cavities. She has 4! all small but still! I feel so bad for her. I asked if her teeth in general were cleaned, yes, gums looked great! she rinses with floride takes floride pills brushes twice a day. DH has horrible teeth also!
I asked about having her teeth sealed but he said it is only on the top of the teeth and doesn't stick to the sides or inbetween so it wouldn't help!
Luckily at this point all of her new teeth seem fine and her 6 year old molars look good So here's hoping!

We are fortunate, our DD has also been going to the dentist since she was 3. We go every year right before school starts. So far, no cavities. I know I didn't have my first cavity until I was 16.

Poor DD. It sounds like she has teeth like my DD did. HUGS to all.

Boots how are his primary teeth now? Does he still get a ton of cavities?
I even asked the dentist if he felt I should have her teeth prof. cleaned every 3 months he said he didn't feel that would help do to the acid and that sugar and stuff does damage with in 30 minutes after eating!

Your DD sounds just like mine. She did have her teeth sealed several year ago. It really didn't help. She also has a lot of acid in her saliva. Add to that fact, she is 14 and has had braces on for 4 years. Yep, that's right. She has an extremely small mouth and her teeth were shifting before all of her permanent teeth were in. Hence, the braces. This summer she has had 4 cavities.
Oh, and two years ago, she had to have oral surgery to expose permanent teeth and bring them on down. By the time her teeth are paid for, we'll have about $6,000 in it. That's bad considering how many fillings she has. I don't think they can really do anything about the acid in their saliva. I may be wrong, though. She doesn't drink a lot of soda; but she is a junk food kid. I hope you find some answers.

My ds just had 3 cavities filled in the last month (one yesterday). He is 6 1/2. The dentist asked me if he eats a lot of gummies or fruit roll-ups. His cavities are in between the teeth and were caused by the gummies. I stopped giving them to him in his school lunches. He can have them at home when he is able to floss immediately after. I didn't realize how bad they are for kids teeth, but as spinning said - the damage is done within 30 minutes!
