That was supposed to be from Santa to me (earrings). Gosh d@rn it! Now, it may have to be a gift to someone else.

It's tough to hide gifts sometimes, isn't it?

My youngest walked in on me wrapping DH's present from the kids, that they had picked out themselves, about a week ago--he's the only one who didn't know what it was because he's 4. He doesn't keep secrets. :rotfl: I thought he'd forgotten about it until DH came to me yesterday & said the little one had shown him the present in a catalog he was looking at and said "Shhhhh...Daddy, this is your present!". Oops. Luckily the older kids don't know that their dad knows what it is, and at least it is something DH thought was cool!

Well....I've had that happen too but I've just acted surprised when I saw my DS take his yoyo out of his stocking & said "oh my goodness! Santa got you one just like I gave to my friend's son!" Can't you just say that you gave it to someone she's not likely to talk too? Or, just give it to her from YOU. I give my kids a round of presents too at Christmas (not everything has to be from Santa!)

We have stockings for our whole family. It's a tradition in both dh and my family. I had a code for some free earrings and thought they could go in my stocking. ;) Last year, Santa *read dh* forgot to put anything in my stocking, and I promise, I was a good girl. So, at the last minute, I was stuffing my own stocking with candy. This year, I'm looking for free things online to fill my own stocking. I also got free perfume with a code online! Thank goodness she doesn't know about that.

Why can't you just keep them? Do they have to be a gift from Santa? Shame to give them away if you really like them.

I really have to watch DH at Christmastime...he gives away so much...last year I had bought a CD for DD and hadn't had time to hide it, but DD hadn't really noticed it. DH pulled it out of the bag in front of her and said "What's this? Why did you buy this?" Urge to kill.

I did something really dumb this afternoon.  I bought a Nintendo DS for DS and put the package under the front passenger seat. While I waited to pick up my younger DS and DD from school, I pulled out the package and started looking at the box. I forgot to put it away, so there it was on the seat in a clear ToysRus bag. DD gets in the van and says to DS, "Hey, there is a Nintendo DS in that bag!"  :badpc: :badpc:

Oh no! That's worse than the earrings. What are you going to do? Just wrap it? Good gosh, I "hid" the earrings in my desk. Today, dd was asking to use my markers/pens and I said okay...totally forgot about the earrings.

I did just about the same thing. I bought DS a big tub of legos and some smaller sets and put them in the backseat. DH usually picks up DS from school, but of course, that day I did and totally forgot about them. DS said, who are these legos for? Ugh, they were supposed to be from Santa! I took them back and got the anniversary set instead and some other small sets, so that they can still be from santa, but they look different, so he won't know.

HA! My dh almost did the same thing a few days ago! I was giving him the eye and shaking my head NO!

The Nintendo DS is for my 13 yr. old, the 10 yr old is the one that saw it, but I know they will share the "good news" with their brother.  I have no idea what I'm going to do...:badpc: :badpc: :badpc: I haven't told DH yet, I forgot about it until I read this thread. :rolleyes1

I think that would be a great thread...free things for stockings...I think I might have to go over to the Budget board and post it. I hope I am not stepping on anyones toes by doing this.

It's been pretty fun trying to find free things! If the two offers I had were good, I'd post the code but, alas they're not.

Maybe they forgot too...:rotfl2: You could hide it and after they open all the other gifts let them wonder where the mysterious Nintendo went...LOL. You could give it to him after they're all staring at each other wondering.

ETA: Or better yet, open the Nintendo, wrap something else in that box and let them stew...LOL... Oh, I didn't buy a Nintendo, I just needed a box to wrap this great scarf in...bwa ha ha!
