DD or CityWalk?

We spend a lot of time at Citywalk and never feel uncomfortable. It's not so good if you want to shop but it's a great place to eat or play mini-golf or see a movie.

That's exactly why we have grown to like Citywalk more than DTD. There are some fun things to do there, and some great dining options (that you don't need to have made a reservation for 180 days ahead of time). DTD, to us, is just a whole bunch of overpriced stores selling more Disney merchandise.

We were there last August, both before and after the parks closed. We didn't feel unsafe at all.....it was just a lively, young atmosphere and lots of sparkly lights.

Heard there is soo much construction going on in Downtown Disney. We are 3 generations of females, 24, 52 & 75 heading down to Disney for 1 week the 1st week of March. On our day off from the Disney parks we were planning on a nice dinner and some drinks at either DD or CW. Were thinking of avoiding the mess of DD and giving Universal City Walk a try. What do you think? Is DD as bad as everyone is saying?

DTD - If you are staying on site just jump on a bus. If you are staying off site DTD hotel area, most hotels offer a ride to the Parks/ DTD... or you could grab a taxi, if your going to enjoy some cocktails, you really don't want to drive... to many what ifs could happen. The parking garage is open and we think it is easy to get in and out...there is construction but Disney has people directing traffic, and the flow of people. There is so much to do at DTD, lots of stores, restaurants lots and lots of choices with all types of price range, and entertainment options, Movies, Bowling, Cirque du Soleil, there are several spots that there are live performers, just stop and watch. My DH and I are heading there tonight for dinner.

City Walk - Again I would grab a taxi, a lot easier than with the parking at Universal, you have to pay for parking, and depending on what time you arrive is what the parking charge will be. City Walk does have some nice dinner options, and movies. As far a shopping it is mostly geared to Universal merchandise. There are clubs for dancing and karaoke. It is definitely more for the party crowd, especially after around 10:00 pm or so.

On a side note, there are 2 really good outlet malls here in Orlando if you are looking for a place to go shopping. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

there's Kilwins for to-die-for chocolate and ice cream.
I had no idea that wasn't just a Michigan place until just a few years ago---we've got one of the earliest expansions from the original Petoskey store here in The People's Republic.

And, yes, it really is that good.

Staying at SSR and loving bring able to walk to DD. It is really busy especially at night. Fun to stop and listen to a variety of musical bands and very talented people playing etc. You never know what you'll find so it's fun to check each night. Also if you walk from one side to the other you can always take a boat back to the bridge by SSR.
