DD hampster died last night and she is very upset. It breaks my heart to see her so upset. Last week he got out of his cage and I think he must of ate something and made him sick. We know he was chewing on a pencil so maybe he got lead poisoning. She has dress rehersal for her dance recitial tonight but tomorrow I will take her to get a new hampster.

I am so sorry. It is so hard to lose a pet. (((HUGS)))) to your DD.:(

Hugs for you daugter with a little tip... maybe it would be better to wait to get another hammie (name of our beloved hamster) when our first one died we went out and got one immediatly my cousin who is 13 she was 12 at the time...but anyway.. she didnt like this one very well (afraid he was going to die too) her brother got one at the same and this is our beloved hammie (he didnt live with us for like 6 months(long story) but now we all love him well the 13 year old is a lil learry but she will go near him...

just a thought because it turned out she thought he was gonna die and it tramatized her

So sorry about the hamster....

Just a note though.. pencils don't have lead in them anymore! Think of all the kids that would have lead poisening! They are made from graphite which is harmless.

AWWWWWWW That is so sad! Hugs and Pixie Dust......

So sorry. My DD is upset because we just lost her hedgehog. !4 years and she was very attached. They are both at Rainbow Bridge.

I had a hamster that a cat I rescued off the streets ate. I came home and his body was hanging out of her mouth. I could of killed her. She went to the humane society real fast. I have no clue how the hamster got out of the cage.

So sorry about your DD's hamster. My DS's hamster died on Saturday. I was told their life expectancy is about 2 years and she was right at that. Dh had cleaned her cage Thursday night and she was dead on Saturday morning. We put her in a little box, buried her in the backyard and had a little funeral.

:(
We have a little rat named Stitch who is 1. Their little lives are so short.:( I'm sorry your hamster died.

All animals, Diane, go to the Rainbow bridge, Chelsea's hamster, Lisa's daughter's hedgehog, KristiKelly's son's hamster, all animals do. They are there, waiting, and what a neat sight that is.'s Diane, for Chelsea.

Just this side of heaven is a place
called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet
goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and
play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and
comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those
who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember
them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss
someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and
looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs
carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you
cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses
rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once
more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never
absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
DS had a hamster when he was about 7 - Skippy was the cutest and really tiny. One day when Alex had a friend over to play, we noticed after the friend left that the top of the hamster tank had been moved. The next day Skippy was dead - we think the friend fed it a piece of chalk or crayon.

Wow, I haven't thought about that little guy for years - DS is 21!!!
I really miss Skippy!!!:(
