Hi all,
I posted yesterday that I was doing the happy dance b/c we are leaving tomorrow. Now our dd is sick with the flu. We are suppose to leave tomorrow am (driving) and check in on Sunday. If she isn't well my Sat, can I call and cancel just Sunday night, and try and reserve Friday night? Do I lose my points? I am just so sad right now, just please pray that she gets well by tomorrow and that dh doesn't get this either, especially while we are driving. I am trying to take a deep breath and hope that everything works out, but what if it doesn't.
Thanks for your prayers and help.

First off how awful for your daughter and you! Has she been diagnosed with the flu? If not, get her to the Dr. and get an official diagnosis. If you get there quick enough you may be able to get Tamiflu (sp?). My neighbor's son had the flu and took the Tamiflu and was over the fly within 2 days. It's worth a shot. Good luck...

Regarding your points...call MS and plead your case...you never know...

Sorry to hear about your dd's flu. I was in a similar situation once. My son had a fever the Sun our trip was to begin,
I called front desk and was told yes we could come a day later, our room would be held for us, the the points for the first night would be lost. And that's what we did. Thankfully ds was better the next day.
I would suggest you call member service today, if you change now maybe your points will only go into the holding account.
And I am praying for your dd's speedy recovery.

i remember reading something about being able to cancel once with no penalty
good luck.i hope she gets better, but seriously take me anyway!!

i would get your daughter to a doc. like another poster suggested and find out, and since your driving, i would just leave everthing as is and plan on leaving like you wanted to its only friday and you have sat. and the drive on sunday, by sunday night she will be fine, just make sure she gets lots of rest , and take suggestions from your doc. this way your daughter wont be dissappointed or feeling like its her fault that she is sick and you have to post pone your trip a day or two.

points: canceling 1 - 30 days from the arrival date your points go into holding.

on the arrival date, you lose your points.

call ms and ask if friday night is available first, and dont forget friday is more points, and if available then tell them your new plans because your daughter has the flu, then cancel sunday night, those points go into holding and then add friday night and tell ms you would like to use those points that in holding and then your rest of your points to finish the ressies.

but do this today, ms is not there on saturday..........

now that i think about it i was down there at the bwv and the next day i was suppose to move the the wlv and then to bcv the night after that, well that night going back to my room at the bwv i stopped by rhe front desk and asked if bcv had a room for the next night because i didnt want to move again again, so the cm called and yes they did, the the cm called ms and asked them to cancel my ressies at the wlv and make the ressies at the bcv with the same points, and yes, ms called wlv to have them release my points and ms made the new ressies using those same amount of points for the bcv so i didnt have to move another time. yeah for the cm's at the front desk and ms.

good luck i hope your daughter feels better, sending pixie dust:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

oh, i forgot, dont use your one time favor, because as long as you do it right know and call you will be ok, keep that favor for something that your really in an uncontrolable bind that you dont have options

MS is not open on Sat. You will need to call today and decide if you want to drop Sunday. The points would go into holding, and you should be able to use them to extend your stay. But you have to do what ever you decide to do today.

As other said, get to the Dr. and get the new Flu meds. Get well and have a great trip.

More Pixie dust for a healthy trip. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

You can also call the resort directly on the weekends. The important thing is to keep in touch with them if your plans are changing. If you just don't show up on the first night, the whole reservation gets cancelled and you lose the points. If you cancel same day, you'll the points. If you cancel a day before, that night's points will go into holding.

Hope your daughter feels better. Even Regis was talking about running to the bathroom all last night...must be going around. :(

I wouldn't cancel anything. One year we were in Miami visiting relatives. The night before we were supposed to leave for WDW my twin DD's (2 1/2 at the time) both began vomitting (at a family wedding no less :o )

We still drove to WDW the next day. We had paper bags in the car with us & a lot of napkins & towels!!! My younger sister sat in the back seat with them. We made more stops than we planned but everything worked out fine. We laid low the day we got there & also the next day, but they were fine. Of course, I don't over react about much. I'm the type of mom that shrugs a lot off.

I know, I know - we're terrible parents, but I couldn't see not driving there. Kids usually bounce back pretty fast & mine did.

I would say that you should get her to the doctor just to get her checked over. I'm sure she'll be fine though.

Hi,

I hope your DD feels better. I hope you can have a nice trip!!

I hope your dd feels beeter soon and that your trip is possible, one way or another. HOWEVER -- one side note -- I suspect you suffer from Mommy Martyr syndrome. You expressed concern for your DD, and also too for your dh (hoping that he didn't contract it). No where in your post did you entertain the thought that YOU could get this! I think that's a "Mom" think.. we figure we're here for the long haul, no matter the virus / bacteria / rain / sleet / snow, you name it!

In any case, I hope NO ONE else in your family contracts it, and you enjoy a wonderful vacation!

it is sat and we are all waiting to here what you decided to do and what happen with when you called ms:sunny: keep us poste, your experience canhelp others that the same problem thanks:sunny:

If you plan on going... and I must admit I would prolly go for it.. . I highly suggest bringing Zip lock baggies for any posible car throwing up.. they work wonders... no splash out, and you zip them closed, controlling odor until you can throw them away.

I learned this trick while preggo with my son... I had to throw up several times a day, but still do all the mommy stuff, taking kids to school, food shopping etc... Ziplocks saved my life. lol
