DD Laura (12) broke her ankle on Monday on her way home from school. She went to a park with 2 other friends and when they were swinging on the monkey bars she fell off and twisted her ankle. Apparently what happened is the ligament chopped off a chunk of bone from the bottom of her shin bone, and she has had to have it reattached with a metal screw in a 2 hour operation. The ligament was overstretched and needed to be tightened too.

She was allowed home on Wednesday, and is living in my bedroom at the moment - her bed is a midi one which you need to climb a ladder to get into. She also can't cope with the stairs so she is prefering to stay upstairs. Good job we have got cable TV in our bedroom.

Needless to say I am waiting on her hand and foot which she is taking full advantage of, but which isn't actually doing my bad back any good. Never mind.

Next week she has to go for a scan to make sure all is well, and she will have a full cast put on then (only got a half cast now) which will need to be on for 6 weeks, and then some time in the future she will need another op to take the metal screw back out!

She should be able to go to school in a few weeks though, once she gets used to the crutches. Of course she thinks she should be able to have the whole six weeks off, and the school should not even think about sending her some work home (in her words!). ;)

sending you both lots of love, I hope you are not too worn out !

Those monkey bars should be banned - my daughter broke her arm on those.

I am sure she is loving being waited on:rotfl2:

Thanks guys. She said it did hurt, but she is pretty tough, when she was little and she used to fall over and bounce off the furniture she never cried, she would just pick herself up and carry on. Hard as nails that child. :scared:

Hi

Poor thing. I bet she is in pain. Bless her. :grouphug:
