DH left for Florida (we are moving there.) The goodbyes were awful. We didn't want him to leave.

I took DS and DD to my parents to spend some time with my family before the big move.

Last Friday, DD woke up with a terrible stomach ache. She was screaming in pain so I rushed her to the ER.

We've had frequent trips to the ER with her when she was an infant because she could never get "regular."

They did an emergency apendectomy.

The surgeon came out and said they also found Meckel's Diverticulum-basically a little pouch that hangs off the intestines that can cause a bowel obstruction. They had to do a small bowel resection to remove this.

I called DH and he was in tears 1200 miles away. The cheapest flight we could find was $600 so he stayed in Florida. They let DS and I stay at the hospital with her because we were in a strange town and I didn't have anywhere to send him. The Doctors and Nurses couldn't have been nicer.

She's running around now like nothing happened. I think we might finally make it to Florida this weekend. I don't think there is anything left that could go wrong.

Keep her in your prayers, if you would. :D

Sorry to hear this, but so glad to hear that she is doing well now. It is always hard when a crisis hits and your spouse is away, being a military spouse I know the feeling, {{{HUGS}}}.

We went through the same thing when DD was 12 years old. She went in on the Eve of Christmas Eve and had to have her Appendix removed. They had to call staff to come in to do it because it was late at night right before a Holiday.
I also got to spend the night with her in her room. She got to pick a present out (because they have toys/games, etc..... ) for kids who are in the hosp. around the Holidays.
She just spent one night and got out on Christmas Eve. It was a quiet Christmas at home that year.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your DD and good luck with your move. :)

Hugs and prayers for you all. Have a great trip. You deserve it. Florida will be the best medicine and so will being together as a family.

I'm so glad that the surgery was successful and that your daughter seems to be doing so well. Thinking good thoughts for her.

Children are really amazing. I'm glad to hear she's OK. I wonder if the Meckel's Diverticulum was the cause of her earlier problems.

That is a stressful situation but it sounds like the worst is over now. Good luck with your move...I'm very jealous;)

I can't help but think the same thing. I guess the problem starts when the egg sack is forming.

I hate to think that she went through years of being uncomfortable because it wasn't caught. She's already more "regular" than she was before surgery-even thought the surgeon said it would take a few days for her system to get back in proper working order.

Hopefully, it will be clear sailing from this point.

She was such a champ in the hospital. They even set it up so my DS and I could order food to her room so we wouldn't have to leave her to eat our meals.

Thanks for all of the well wishes. :D

It was good that it was caught early, though. Glad to hear she is up and running around. They do bounce back quickly at that age.

one note....I had it done when I was six. My dad took me to the doctor, they rushed me into surgery and my Mom couldn't even get to the hospital until they were wheeling me OUT of surgery. She was babysitting, and had to get someone else to do it, then rush up to the hospital. Talk about getting something over and done with quickly!:)

Wow,

A tough time fo ryou and your family! DD sounds like a brave girl!

Can you wait till the impending hurricane is thru Florida before you move down there? What are your plans?

BTW, DD and I were in Sandestin when Bonnie came on shore 40 miles east of us. Not one drop or rain or any wind from her in Sandsestin. It was the best day of the week weatherwise, so don't give up hope!

We had a good time in east Lansing last weekend moving DS in. Things went well.

herc.

Poor thing! How awful! I'm so sorry your hubby couldn't be there, but soon you will all be reunited. I'm glad they got it out before it burst...HUGS to you all.
