Well, I have to say, the MRI machine has got to be the LOUDEST machine I have ever heard! They were nice enough to let me stay in the room with her, which made us both feel a whole lot better. :flower: They gave me the films before we left and are faxing the report to the orthopedic doctor but they did tell me that if I want a copy of the report (which I do!!), I can stop by there tomorrow and pick it up. I am glad about this as I really don't think I can wait two weeks to get the results.

If you have some spare pixiedust: , it will be greatly appreciated!! :tink: All the technician would say was "I can't read them...all I can say it there is A LOT of bruising in there". Does this sound like good news or bad??!! :worried:

Next doctor's appointment isn't until Feb 2nd. They want to give her leg a couple weeks of not being used before they check it out again. She is in a "leg immobilizer" at the moment.

OMG, I hope she'll get positive results back!

Sending pixiedust:, prayers, and :grouphug:'s your way!

I hope she feels better soon.

Thanks for the update.

Well, I got the results......now I have answers and more questions!! :rolleyes2

First the good news...the MRI showed that neither the ACL or meniscus are torn. Definitely seems like surgery is now ruled out!! Yeah for that!! :cheer2:

Now for the more questions!! It does show that there is "bone marrow edema involving the medial femoral condyle". :confused3 Any ideas?!! From what I can figure out, it seems like swelling in the bone marrow?? When I googled this information :surfweb: , everything I came up with seemed to show information on osteoarthritis! :headache: Guess we wait and see.........

It sounds like you have the gist of what the problem is, swelling on the top, inside of her femur (the long leg bone) well, maybe bottom of the bone depending on your perspective :teeth: . It sounds like there was some kind of trauma to the area that resulted in some swelling, so basically it is a sprained knee of sorts. My guess is that they will allow her out of the immobilizer and have her ice and take an anti-inflammatory (Advil probably). Don't do anything until you hear from the dr. of course. I would call your Dr now and see what he says and not wait until her Feb 2 appointment.

I just did a search on "femoral condyle" and at least that gives me some more useful information! :surfweb:

Thanks for the update, Collen. Sure sounds better than it did. Continued good wishes coming Jess' way.

So glad she doesn't need surgery! Hopefully you'll get your other questions answered on Feb 2nd. pixiedust:
