I don't know about a toothbrush, but my DS's orthodontist recommended a water pik to help with cleaning. We also bought the floss that had rigid ends to go in between the teeth, since the brackets are in the way.

Was just coming on here to say Water Pik! DS is about to get his braces off but had trouble cleaning between the gums and the braces and both the ortho and the hygenist recommended a water pik. DS actually really likes using it too so it was a win~win kind of thing. We didn't buy the name brand...just went into target and bought the cheapest one which was around $35 or so and it works great! Most of them were much more money but this one does the job just fine. Thanks -- so a water pik it isAny suggestions on a particular model?
Our orthodontist also gave my kids a battery toothbrush when the braces went on.
DS received a sonicare for "free" (I'm sure that cost is built into the fee) when he got his braces. He had them on for three years and never had a cavity and there was no staining when they were removed. They can regularly be found for under $50 now, and can be used for more than one person since you change out the brush heads (they have colored bands on the heads to keep track).
oh-and since they're rechargeable (at least the ones we have are) ...no batteries!
Give your ortho a call. We also received "free" electric toothbrushes on the day that the braces were put on. I had no idea that this was the policy until my first child got braces.
Waterpics are great too but in addition to the electic toothbrush IMHO. Good luck with the braces. They are soooooooooo worth it!!
), she loves it.
