DD 6 put on the wrong bus

This sort of happened to me when I was in K too!! I fell asleep in the seat right behind the driver and when he passed my house my mom panicked! She called the bus company and they radioed the driver and he was 2 stops past my house by then. It was his last stop of the route, so he then turned around and brought me home. He actually pulled into the driveway to drop me off and I still remember thinking that was so special! My mom said the first thing I said was, ' The bus driver drove me right into the driveway. That's so cool!' Guess I wasn't too traumatized!


I am now currently a 1st grade teacher (K last year) and the bus situation is an ever present cause of fear in my life. We have many kids who come on one bus and leave on another. We have some busses which are split into 2 and kids who live in one side of the area go on one and the other half on the other, but it changes daily. Many 5 and 6 year olds don't know their street address so I really have to be on the ball. We will sometimes even have bus drivers get upset and say 'I'm not taking the Murray Hill kids today, 402 is.' It is so scary because you don't know if you should trust that, or go with what you think is right! I'm glad it all worked out and your DD is ok Sounds like she has a good teacher who used it as a learning experience for the whole class.
