And they played with sidewalk chalk. What a riot! DD has been changing her pics on facebook all day and I am :rotfl2: There were 7 or 8 kids, all from a synchro swim team my DD is on. They obviously had a great time playing with it!

I am so glad they took pics!

:lmao: DD is 19 and I still have a bucket of sidewalk chalk on my garage doorstep that she and her friends will break out when they get bored occasionally. Sometimes it's nice to see the little kid in them still comes out, isn't it?

Oh, what a relief to read this. Of course I thought it would lead to something else.

My 20 yr old DD loves coloring books. When she & her same aged cousin get together they like to color. Brings back good memories to them.

Imagine how beautiful it would be if we all used a little more colored chalk in our lives.:)

I'm 23 and still play with sidewalk chalk! Glad to see some teens still find it in themselves to put aside their desires to be "adults" and have some real fun!

I think I need a little colored chalk in my life!

Glad they had such a good time. Next time tell them to try playdoh!

Our patio is usually covered with chalk art after my sixteen-year-old niece has been babysat our girls. (The Barbies are usually scattered around, too)

Last year about 6 kids from the neighborhood played with colored chalks in our cul-de-sac. My neighbor knocked on our door the next morning to tell them to wash it off. I told the kids to use spray paint next time. Old fogies dont remember what it was like to be a kid.

Your neighbor would have a fit if they lived next to me. My house is the one with the driveway with the sidewalk chalk almost every weekend. I would like to have someone knock on my door to my house and tell me that.

I am 42 and I enjoy coloring on planes. DD11 and I whip out something to color or draw.

They already have a fit living next to us - it would be GREAT if you could be on the other side!:rotfl2:

I'm 24 and still think sidewalk chalk is fun! :lmao: I have a whole drawer full of coloring books and crayons. Coloring can be for grownups too! :)

I would have told him to do something unpleasant with chalk! :rotfl:

Seriously, some of our best Mother/daughter talks have been while coloring with chalk.

YIKES - don't you just want to tell them: LIGHTEN UP FRANCIS!!!

Actually - the "sleepover mom" was disappointed because the torrential downpours we had that night totally cleaned up the driveway before the morning.

I'll post some of the pics later today - IF I can figure out how to get them from my DD's facebook to the Dis. I can go from the camera memory stick to the DIs - just gotta figure out the facebook angle.

Awwww, what a great story.

That's wonderful that they trusted their teammates enough to do something fun that others their age would frown upon. Good for them!

I pulled out our box-o'-bubbles for a pre-teen sleepover last month. We had a small storage tote with lots of frisbee-sized bubble trays and a variety of bubble blowers. One girl sucked the soap liquid up in a supersoaker that they had been playing with, then squirted it in someone's face. I had to teach them how to play with the bubbles - some of them had never used anything but the little bottles. I had a great time and it was a learning experience (made our own bubble solution.)

Love that! I love drawing with chalks. Even much more now than when I was a kid ;)

I ran/walked/waddled the Rock n Roll Seattle half marathon yesterday. The race includes a high school cheer squad competition where schools from the area "compete" to win money for their school's cheer program by having the most creative and enthusiastic cheering section for the marathon runners. The teens that were out yesterday were fantastic.... but the funniest part was definitely the chalk. A lot of the cheer squads brought sidewalk chalk to decorate their stretch of road and it was clear that they had way too much fun doing it. I had to stop/slow down a few times to get a closer look at their artwork. :rotfl:

DD16 and her BFF18 love sidewalk chalk! My driveway looked like Michaelangelo had been here a few weeks back! lol She also still likes to color. If I could only find a Nemo coloring book!! :)
