Hey guys! Fall 2017 hopeful comin atcha. I'm getting excited already and have a few questions--

1. Who would you recommend talking to at my university as far as figuring out how scholarships/credits/staying a full time student will all work out? Are there certain positions/offices who would know about this stuff?
2. How crucial is it to have prior work experience? I've done plenty of volunteering/had leadership positions, but never an official job.

I'm excited already!!! Thanks in advance for any help :)

1. Email your major adviser, or go to your registrar or financial aid office on campus. One of them will most likely know. When you get scholarships, a lot of them have the information within them if they're not from your college specifically. Otherwise your financial aid office should have that information or give you an office that does. I had to take 12 credits my first CP in order to keep my scholarships.

2. Not that much. It's really a hit or miss, I only had 1 job before I did my CP as a librarian and I was hired for merchandise (in which I had no experience, really). It might be helpful for certain roles, but it's not the end all, be all.

1. echoing the above, talk to your adviser. obviously, they're gonna know best. at my college, i got internship credit for being down in florida. i wasn't considered full time, i was paying out of pocket for the semester and only paid per credit that term. also, see if you have anyone you can reach out to that is alumni of your school and the program. you might be able to track down someone who can guide you a little better! plus, great way to network - which, after all, is what the dcp is really about.

2. i don't think they're looking for extended work history. for my first cp i worked attractions and at that time i think i had worked at walmart for 3/4 months and a summer camp for 3 months. when i got home, i immediately returned to the ymca and worked with kids for another year or so. this really helped me get in to my second cp as children's activities. on my first program i used a lot of volunteer/school related answers while on my second, they were more related to jobs. this is just my experience though
