Is a three night cruise worth the money or do we go for 4 nights? Already been in the past for 7 nights, but want to trial DD5 and DS3 on a DCL ship next year. Anyone got experience with taking young kids on DCL? Tips please

No experience with taking little ones but have done 4 x 4 night cruises, no way would I want to do 3 nights, you lose the 1st day boarding and unpacking, boat drill etc, last day you disembark 8-9am so your 3 days is really a 2 day cruise, too short IMO.
I am sure 3 days is better than none but if you have a choice 4 days would be my advise.

We are planning on doing a 4 day in 2012 when DD will be 4 or almost 4. We waited as we wanted to make sure she would be fully potty trained as they do not take un-potty trained children in the clubs. We are keen on her going as we think she will love it and it will give us some adult time.

I have read nothing but good things about DCL and taking children :goodvibes

Waiting for them to announce the 2012 itineraries now so we can book something!

I agree with Wayne here, we had to do a 3 night because of dates and it really was a case of blink and it's over. If you have the choice then I'd say definitely go for the 4 night one.

Thanks all, one of the reasons i ask is that the shorter cruises obviously stop at fewer places, not sure what would amuse the kids on some of the Caribbean islands, obviously castaway key has lots for the kids!

I too would opt for a 4 night, even that goes by too quick!!!

On the Nassau day you could always go to Atlantis, they have fab swimming pools etc there & it is a lovely resort. (You do have to buy a pass to access the pools but there are cheaper ways to book that than direct with dcl, ask on the cruise planning section as i'm not sure of the details) www.atlantis.com

The 4 night only has an extra day at sea compared to the 3 night crusies but if your kids are anything like DS they won't want to leave the ship even in port. We have done 7 cruises never spent more than a couple of hours in any port, we prefer to enjoy the quiet ship while everyone else gets off.
