I just got a survey from DCL about the SWDAS emailed to me. One of the most interesting questions was about other possible themes. Here is the list:

Disney Cruise Line® is continually looking for new ways to enhance the Guest experience onboard. Below you will find some themes that are currently offered, as well as some potential new offerings.

Please rate your level of interest in experiencing a future Disney cruise that has the entire cruise devoted to the following themes.
Disney History and Legends
ESPN / Sports
Family-Friendly Mardi Gras
Marvel's Avengers
Princesses
Mickey and Friends
Christmas
Frozen
Food and Wine
Disney Villains
Marvel
Valentine's Day
Pirates
Easter / Springtime
Disney Junior
Star Wars
Pixar
Halloween

I can picture the Disney Dollar signs multiplying for any and all of these themed cruises. Yep! They want to find out what their guests are willing to pay more for. Just as the Star Wars themed sailings cost more, anything at all "special" will give them an excuse to hike prices. I think I'd rather stick with "normal" sailings if any, because that's about as high as I'm willing to go these days.

This seems very silly to me. Star wars theme fit as there is a large draw of people who will be in cosplay and book for that main reason. There are loads of conventions for geeked out stuff like that. I find it hard to find someone booking because it is a valentines day or pirates cruise. Which by the way isn't there already one of those on practically every sailing? Pixar? isn't that on the Alaska sailing. Some of us just want a regular sailing that works within a vacation schedule and have no desire to pay a premium for a ESPN,Easter themed cruise. Ughh!:sad2:
On top of which half of this list is stuff I would already expect to be on the cruise. Disney Junior, Princesses, Frozen, etc.

haha this makes me laugh. i just want to go an DCL, it doesn't need to be crazy carnival night every time! they could mix up the theme nights more but why make it even more complicated??? oh i know, to sell t shirts :rolleyes1:rolleyes2

So if they raise the prices for "specially themed" cruises, maybe the boring "regular" cruises will become more reasonable? Since fewer people will want them?

Yeah, that's not going to work.

I guess I am old-fashioned in my tastes. I prefer classic cruising style and don't want a non-stop in-my-face themed party going on. I enjoy the Disney decor and traditional characters. I would hate to see a lot of "regular" cruise dates be replaced with other themes. A few per year wouldn't be bad, but I am guessing they are thinking very broadly about this.

ESPN/ sports looks good to me.
I was on a DCL repo cruise one time they had a Person from ESPN that gave a speech.
Disney villains is another one I like.
Bring them on im glad they are thinking of new things.

I don't mind having special speakers, or one time events, but a whole cruise themed to, say, sports, isn't what I'd be looking for.

If I were limited in when I could cruise, I'd really hate it if the only DCL cruise available was one that was totally filled with sports events, or Marvel, or even one specific Disney feature.

They did Pixar themed cruises before...we took one out of LA on the Wonder in 2012. It was great...there were pixar employees on board giving lectures...including John Lasseter. It wasn't more expensive, I think they were having trouble selling those cruises and just wanted to make them more appealing. I would love to do a Star Wars if they offer it again and the price isn't crazy. Marvel would be great too...

I am not sure I would be interested in any more themed cruises, with the exception of a DuckTales cruise when it finally gets rebooted, best cartoon ever!

While not a theme, I really wish that they would bring the whole Pooh clan onboard, Tigger and Eeyore are mine and my daughters favorite characters.

The issue with that is that Pooh and all are not "Disney characters". They are franchised by Disney. I believe they only have the rights to use the characters in films and as characters in the parks.

Agreed, but I would to see them do what they need to do to get them on the ships, I am guessing a lot of gusts would be pretty excited about it:)

On a scale of 1 to 10?

Pirates -- 9
Pixar -- 10

Disney Villains -- 26

Some of those sound fun. I don't think I'd be willing to pay extra for a themed cruise, but it the cost stays the same, I'd take several of those.

I would prefer new itineries over themed cruises. However, we have been on Halowwen and Merrytime cruises and enjoyed them both. I have been on 4 DVC Member Cruises, so, that should count as themed, and lo, it is a new itinerary, so yes, I'm on it! (Yes, it is at a premium.)

Bobbi :boat:

I would love for DCL to do a Frozen themed cruise. I got to see the Freezing the Night Away Deck Party last Year on the EBPC cruise in October! It was amazing. A Disney princess cruise would be awesome. I would absolutely love for them to do a Disney lengend/History cruise. On the last EBPC cruise we got to attend multiple presentation featuring Stacia Martin who is a Disney Historian and Disney animator. I could listen to her for hours!

Stacia Martin is the BEST!!!

they already have holiday themed cruises i cant imagine they dont do something for easter. but themed cruises on the dream would make sense. for the other ships, 7 nights or more seems a long time to carry a theme. thats why i like the SWDAS its one day of the cruise like the pirate day festivities but it doesnt take away from the rest of the cruise
