DCL scrapbook Pages??

I just bought photoshop elements 6 from Dell.com for $49 after a $20 rebate. I believe that offers ends July 31. It usually runs around $70-$100.

Photoshop is about $500 from what I've heard.

I think the Creative memories software is around $60.

I'm really looking forward to attempting my first digital page

Yes -- That sounds about right. I think there is a website where educators and students can get a decent discount on photoshop products out there too.... I would have to hunt down the site...

I ordered some things from ScrapMatters this afternoon. I got a confirmation but I don't know where the things are. How do I retrieve them or does it take awhile for them to send them? I am so new at this!:confused3

They should be there immediately unless there is some hold up with your paypal or something... log back on and click on My Account... then it should list a link with recent purchases and today's date that you can click on to get the downloads.....

YAY!! Good for you. It really is so much fun, and I never thought I would be "active" on forums and boards, sharing my layouts and doing challenges because it didn't seem like my thing.... but THAT is so much fun too. People are so friendly and it's fun to share your work with people who are into the craft. I started digi scrapping about a year ago and for the first 4-6 months I swear I was addicted to hunting down and downloading freebies. That's SO MUCH FUN too! Now that I have done quite a few pages, I am not quite as addicted to that aspect of it, but I still love finding freebies from my favorite designers and checking out the new kits, etc. There are some extremely talented digital designers out there..... I'll look forward to seeing you over on the scrapbooking thread, and you'll definitely have to join in the challenges! :goodvibes

::yes::Totally.

I was up waay too long last night on some of the freebie blogs. I started downloading everything free I could get my hands on when I first started digiscrapping - at that time there was very few freebies out there - But now I only download kits and elements from my favorite designers, or ones that I am becoming newly familiar with, that create in my style - which is more realism, less paper-ish type elements and papers, and a lot of photo work. So it takes a lot of time scouring the logs of freebies out there - I totally can't believe how many creative people are into this craft now! And now my wallet comes out a lot more often because I know what I am looking for and I go out to get a certain kit.

minniesota, it sounds like you may not have a cable line for Internet, so some of the kits will take some time to download. Papers will be the most gigibyte intensive download and elements take less space.

Your download should show up on the My Account Page as has been said. You can download right from there.

You also asked for inspiration ideas - I just start with a blank page and a theme idea or inspiration based on the picture/s. I then look at what I have in hand to complete my idea for what the page should look like - and then go out and get what I don't have. I spend a lot of time scrapping things like invitations, and thank you cards too.

I hope this all helps.

mom2garrett&kylee - Lumapix is in the $40 range.

Has anyone else seen the new Disney stuff that CM has put out this summer? It is both paper and digital. I got a ton of it to put away for our cruise next month. :)

I saw it, and of course ordered some;) . Some really nice stuff, I liked the quotes, and some of the papers. (I do traditional scrapbooking)

I had to show you all this page I just saw today - it is totally up my design alley and I absolutely love it!!!!!!

This page makes me sooo happy looking at it - I don't normally scraplift, but this is sooo awesome and right in my wheelhouse of how I like pages to look - but I would probably put afew more photos in it, just cause I can never stick with one!

:cutie:

Does any do paper scrapbooking anymore? I must be a scrapbooking dinosaur!!!:lmao:

I cannot believe your pages! Every time I see one of your pages I don't think they could ever be ones cuter and you out-do yourself every time! Thanks for sharing!
Out of curiosity, how long does each page take you? I ordered a digital imaging program and have been playing with Picasa to get the hang of it. Once I learn the basics, I hope to get an album done faster than I currently am. One every year or so!:rotfl:

You are so sweet... Thanks so much. You know, once I became comfortable with the software, the pages started going pretty fast. The pages I am posting here all took probably around an hour or less to do... generally from scratch -- sometimes I used a template. There are so many fun kits with fun papers and embellishments out there -- it makes it pretty easy to do a decent page. The thing that I like most is that I can pull up the software on the computer and leave it up and literally go over for 5-10 minutes and do a little something on a page, and then come back later and do a little more. I had a hard time doing that with traditional scrapping because of the all of the supplies I had to get out... and my little ones would not stay out of them if I left the stuff out. ;) The best way to learn the digital is just to get in there are start making pages... You can always go back and adjust stuff later once you learn new techniques if you want. I have only been doing it for about a year or so, and there is a big difference in my pages now compared to when I started.... but I am fine with that..... I am leaving the old ones as is.... shows my "evolution" with the craft! :rotfl:

I'm wondering (I hope this isn't a stupid question) do you print out your digital scrapbook pages and put them in an album, or do you just keep them on disc? I have only ever done one (traditional) scrapbook of our first DCL vacation, so I'm really new to all of this.

It's not a stupid question... I think there are some people who make them and don't print them.... But I print them in 12 x12 page prints for my kids' albums (this way I can also do some traditional pages and add memorabilia etc. if I want) For this trip, though, since it's looking like I am going to have a BUNCH of pages, I am going to upload them to Creative Memories or Shutterfly and print out a 12x12 storybook... which is kind of like a yearbook. Some people print them in 8 x 8 (this way you can print them at home on your own printer). The place I use for 12 x12 prints charges $3.49 per print and frequently has sales for $2.49, and there is a $2 flat rate shipping charge. I have been very happy with the quality.

You guys are so funny. I hope I haven't hijacked this thread... I love traditional scrapbooking too and know tons of people who are still into it (including myself sometimes).... :goodvibes

Can't wait to see them. I'm getting ready to start back to work, so I am going to slow way down probably....

My DS made a top 10 (that turned into a top 15) list of our DL/DCL vacation.... I wanted to document his picks and also why he chose each one....

ME! I spend enough time on the computer without scrapping on it too! Besides, there's something so soothing about cutting paper. I like the tactileness of real paper, ribbon, brads.

I found them. I thought they would email them to me but once I went back to the site/My Account, there they were! Thanks!
