Hi there,

Forgive my ignorance but what are the DCL desks at the various resorts for. Please can someone explain the services they offer as we are staying at the BCv for 14 nights then heading off for a 3 day "trial" cruise on 10/20.

Are you sure you aren't thinking of the Disney Vacation Club areas? They are everywhere at various resorts. I don't recall ever seeing them for the cruise line...

I remember seeing a DCL area at the Polynisian I think it was when we were exploring last year during the holidays. There was a smaller version of the ship from the terminal and the kids were all excited since we would be on the ship in a couple days. I think that it is just like the DVC sales desks. They will book you on a cruise or give you info about it if you want.

The DCL desks are only at the resorts that belong to the Land/Sea package. They are there to go over your cruise docs and answer any of your questions. The DCL desk has limited hours. If you purchased transfers, they will let you know when the bus departs to go to PC or they will arrange to have you picked up at AKL. If you choose to go to AKL, they will give you PS for breakfast and/or shows. If you don't visit the DCL desk while you are at the WDW Resorts, you must do the docs at the port prior to boarding. If you do visit the DCL desk, (and submit your paperwork) you can proceed directly to the boarding area.

We stayed at the Beach Club Villas last October for four nights before taking a 7-night Western cruise. We stopped by the DCL desk they have just off their main lobby to make sure that our documents were filled out properly. The gentleman working the desk put everything into a folder for us and answered some questions we had. When we got to the terminal our check-in process was about 5 minutes because everything was already organized and had been checked over. Stop by and have them prep your docs if you get the chance - it's worth it!

Will they only do this for you if you booked through DCL?
We're planning on 4 nights at the parks staying on-site, then 4 days on the Wonder. Can I do this if I booked separetly (no land/sea package)?

It shouldn't matter who you booked with - your cruise documents will be issued by DCL and the castmember's at the cruise desks will be able to check them over for you if you ask them to and verify that you've filled out everything the way you're supposed to.

We didn't book through DCL and we didn't have a land / sea package either. That shouldn't matter at all - just find out from the resort what time a DCL represenative will be working the desk and take your stuff down to them. They will take care of the rest.

I just have to add that after arriving at Port Orleans Frech Quarter on the first day flights were allowed back into Orlando, right after one of the hurricanes last year, the DCL desk there was staffed. They were very helful getting making sure our cruise docs were in order and updating us on the status. I give them much credit for being there and so helpful.

We were booked on a land/sea package and were called by the DCL desk on our day of arrival at the BC. They handled all of our check in, so at the PC terminal all we did was use our KTTW card and we were right on the ship!! No waiting!

If you are not land/sea, it would still be beneficial to have them check out your docs to make sure they are in order.

You can use these even if it is not a land/sea vacation. We are booking a room tomorrow for 3 nights prior to the cruise. Good to know our options. What time do the buses leave the resorts to go to the boat?

The buses leave the WDW Resort complex at staggered times from about 11:15am to 12:45pm. Each resort has an assigned time in which the DCL bus picks up and leaves to go to Port Canaveral. The DCL Resort Desk has the time posted.
