Just got off the phone with Constance, a DCL res supervisor. When I refered to the DIS Board she said, " when I want a good laugh I go to those boards" !
I had asked her a question about the Romance at Sea Pkg ( see Romance at Sea thread, last page . Anyway, even if she was correct in what she told me she got me all fired up with her authoritative attitude !!

Like I already posted in the The4OfUs Romance thread, if someone is being mean call back and ask to speak to someone else or the manager. If I were you, I'd call back and ask for Debbie.

Perhaps someone should explain to Ms. Constance that this board has been the impetus many have needed to help make the decision to cruise...the support and information here has helped ease fears to the point that people who would never cruise now will try it...therefore this board is directly responsible for many MANY reservations that are keeping her in a job.

Next time she wants to laugh, maybe she can consider that.

Personally, I find many of the things posted on these boards very amusing. Especially when it comes to the rumors! ::yes::

Maybe she and some of the reservation agents should read here a bit more. Not for grins, but for some knowledge.
Its almost like when you go to buy a car and you've researched it and you find out you know 10 X more than the salesman you're buying from. I've had that happen and I just walk away.
One of the reasons I'd rather deal with All Seasons. I know that they know the answers and IF they don't, they'll find out for you. If something goes wrong they'll make it right. The few dealings I've had with DCL direct have been very hit and miss.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Interesting comment from the reservation agent. IMHO, I would “laugh” at her comment. Unfortunately, cruise line reservation agents are not always the most well informed although Disney is better than most. You wouldn’t believe the reservation agent I recently had on RCCL. Basically, I was on my own. A travel agent (such as Dreams Unlimited) who specializes in the cruise you desire can be invaluable. I have no relationship with Dreams although I am forever indebted to them for gracefully rescuing my last cruise when a work emergency came up.

This board is a great source of information, and unless you are traveling with a Disney Cruise guru, the online community is an invaluable resource. Of course, we all need to apply our own filters and use common sense regarding rumors etc. You may want to preface your question to reservation agents by saying, “I have heard…” instead of “I read on DisBoards…”. It is less threatening to some reservation agents.

The Internet, and its subsequent online communities, allows information to travel freely regardless of distance and time. It is a whole new world and savvy companies should use the medium to their advantage instead of being threatened by the free flow of information.

Every traveling party needs someone who has the time and disposition to get information from online. Let me also take the time to thank all the members of this online community who, by sharing their experiences and opinions, have allowed my to have some great vacations on Disney and other cruise lines.

Most likley it was one of thoose throw away lines, however Iwould like to say this site is fantastic and the people who contribute to it, are usaully all pro DCL and encourgage pepole to go on a cruise with DCL.

In some ways its free avertising for them, and can make the difference in people booking a DCL cruise or going elsewhere if they have concerns.

Lots of you are very funny and witty and kean to HELP! WELL DONE!

Now if you are a DCL rep reading this please read the thread on 2005 MAGIC Cruises and sort it out now, then we all can laugh!

DCL should sponsor this site! and use it for market research

I agree with CRSNDSNY. Call back and ask for another rep :)

This message is for Constance (if indeed you did laugh at this forum - I wasn't there so I don't know). But if true, and I have no reason to doubt this poster, I made my decision to book the REAS package based on the remarks made in this forum. And based upon this, you should be praising this forum as it is what keeps you in your position. Nuff said. - Mike

well said, ditto for me. If it were not for these boards, DCL would not have gotten 3k+ from me, including the REAS.

I agree 100%. I used this board to decide if I wanted to take a Carnival or Disney cruise. After reading this board I decided on the Disney cruise.

This board made Disney a couple O grand off me as well..... I would call and complain to a supervisor, her attitude was unacceptable, and maybe it is time for her to seek other employment opportunities outside of customer service.........

Disney does many things very well, however my husband and I were very disapointed with Disney's web site, especially when it came to trying to book our recent cruise. My comment to anyone at DCL who said she laughed at these boards would be simply "That's funny, because my husband and I laughed at the poor quality of Disney's web site. If it hadn't been for Dis Boards, and all the great knowledge I picked up there, then I probably would have gone with another cruise line.. a cruise line who properly markets themselves in the global marketplace."

I do agree also that Disney could get a great amount of research done here by lurking around as one of us!

Had to tell you all my experience with the DCL reservation people. My first call I spoke with "Jay" and he was wonderful...gave me lots of info and help. Spoke with my husband and we decided to book a 7 night so I called back and got another reservation rep (cannot remember her name) but i said i wanted to fly in the day before.
She told me i could only do that if i was flying in from the West coast (i'm from NH). Now, i knew this was not right as we had flown in the day before on our first cruise. She was very short with me and did not have a very "Disney like" attitude. So i hung up and immediately called back, got another reservation rep who said i absolutely could book the day before flight.
So my advice ...is call again and again until you get the right answer!!....and a good attitude

My experience with the DCL Rep's is that if you call 5 times you will get 5 different answers and these boards and the info here or over at the other "crusing boards is much more accurate"

These boards have been invaluable to me in finding info. to book my cruise for 4/29. I'm one of those who prefers to book everything myself, so DCL reservation agents don't even figure into the equation for me. Disney might want to take a page from many of the airlines and come up with a better cruise web-site that allows people to book themselves with competitive pricing. That way, they wouldn't have to employ as many agents. I would think that repeat cruisers know what they want and would be more than capable of booking themselves providing the pricing was competitive. I'm not sure why the Disney prices are inflated over what you can get simply by looking around the web. Then again, it's probably so they can pay for people like Constance.

Maybe she was refering to one of the other boards that is part of disboards.com, like the debate board or something? The debate board can be comical at times

The Dis boards saved me over $1,000. I booked with allseastravel.com and cancelled DCL. I laugh everytime I come to the disboards........all the way to the bank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
