DCL re-opening rumor sightings

Its good to see things like this popping up. Let's hope this is a sign that things are coming back!

I'd love to know what what that friend's role is. It would give us a better clue as to what DCL is preparing for. For example, if it's cabin hosts or maintenance, it might just be to start cleaning. If it's servers, then maybe we are closer to cruises resuming.

Preparations to resume operations are great, but it's going to be a while, especially since DCL has already announced delay on return to sailing until at least December. That said, re-crewing is a huge undertaking, especially if they're reactivating furloughed crew members from foreign countries that are restricting travel for citizens at this time, it will probably require some negotiations and possibly some circuitous travel to get them back to the ships. They might be able to take some on before any of the ships return from Europe (France) where they all are (or are heading to, the Wonder is on her way across the Atlantic at this time). Performers and non "hotel" crew might be some of the last added to the ships in all likelihood as they're non essential until guests are present on board. We'll have to see what transpires in the next month or so, there hopefully will be more information trickling in from various sources.

Yeah agreed.
Even if DCL **officially** declared today they're starting preparations, you wouldn't see the first sailings until at least January
Pretty obvious there won't be any DCL ships cruising this year. I figured that since June but ppl are still holding out hope.
But this is a good development. A pre-preparation sort of calling.
I think they are eyeing March 2021

Given the profitability on the high priced Christmas cruises and the fact that DCL is a business and part of a publicly traded company, they will try to make an effort to sail in late December per the current bookable DCL schedule. On 09/21 CLIA members said it would take them 30 days to be ready to sail. So given that DCL's first scheduled cruise is still approx 75 days away, very possible. Charter flights are a wonderful thing.

Doubtful that it will be any sooner than spring 2021.

Disney just announced 28,000 layoffs - mostly within the parks division overseeing DCL. They have also recently indicated that cruising will be one of their last operations to start.

Plus, they have been pretty much MIA in the cruise industry's conversations with the CDC.

Some crew positions need a rather long lead time to resumption to work. And they still need staff to run the ships which are either shuttling across the pond or in a warm layup in Europe.

I really hope people get a notice that Disney intends to sail and how it will change. I have a mid January sailing and $1200 PP flight credit that I need to use. I’d hate to think the former Hawaii pre-Covid travel that was planned it’s going to be used on a flight that I can get for around $200 any other time.

Can you imagine what would be like for people who had sail tomorrow? (If the CDC would have let sailing continue?) kids be packing their own suitcases. Formal night would include one blue shoe and one black shoe for your daughter. The shoes your husband wears while he cuts the lawn. T-shirts with holes. No swimsuits. An assortment of small dinosaurs, 1 pair of shorts and a baseball glove, and the underwear he came with. I wonder if there are people in Florida for smaller cruises today?

Comments I’ve seen from some employees on social media is that they’ve been told Dec I would expect someone to start in Nov. Maybe Carnival or NCL.

From the schedule it looks like Carnival is first up. I just pray they do it right and don't try and hotdog it and ruin it for the rest of us. The media is going to be salivating for a story watching the first weeks of sailing. Even a false positive test could kill the restart depending on how accurate and fairly it's covered.

Isn’t it Carnival that restarted in Europe. I think they know what they are doing and they have a lot at stake.
I also think the media hype on Covid will be over in about a month. If we have a drawn out election count no one will be paying attention to cruises.
