DCL rate dropped

I was checking my on-line checking this morning and saw two credits posted to my checking account for $11.76 each. They were from DCL.

I emailed DU and was told there was a change in government fees and taxes so our cruise price came down a little. So DCL refunded each of the two reservations $11.76.

Nice. I wish they'd of just done an OBC. Anyway, nice that they passed that on (even though we are already paid in full) and didn't just keep the money.

Anyone else notice a price drop?

every few months, a post like this pops up..... happened to us on our first trip, and it could possibly happen on this next one, not holding my breath though.

Just happened to us. Has happened a couple of times in the past. It's nice Disney refunds anything at all because none of us would notice a small drop like that

Not saying that Disney isn't nice but these are government fees and they would get more than a slap on the wrist for not returning it. I believe in the early 90's Royal Caribbean (and maybe other lines?) got in trouble for it.

:goodvibes In 2006 , our May western MAGIC cruise....can you say something like $ 960.00 refund credit back to my C C. Don't remember what it was for now....but we were happy. :thumbsup2

We got a small one on ours about a month ago, the TA said it was a reduction in the fuel surcharge :)

DCL hasn't charged a fuel surcharge for a number of years now. I would say it was a reduction in port fees or other tax that caused the refund.

Where were you headed to? I still have to check ours, but was curious where you were going.

This is exactly what I thought as I read the post....I think the TA was wrong. But it doesn't matter really--a refund is a refund.

I suspect the above $900 refund reflected a drop in the cruise fare--a TA probably caught it and requested it. DCL will do that if the reduction in fare is before the penalty date (used to do it at any point!) but the guest or TA must see the reduction and ask for the price adjustment--it doesn't happen automatically.

So it just showed up on your credit card... what if payment was with gift cards? I'd never know to check all of them.

They will put the credit back on the GC. If you paid with a gift card and a credit card it is possible that they will put it back on the GC too. (They did this to me). They did send an email stating that there was a credit. I fortunately had the GC's and was able to find the one they used for the credit.

Thank you! That's what I wondered, if they also send an email or call. I keep all the gift card (I could build a hut with 'em all!) for just such reasons!

I wouldn't count on always getting an email from them in you receive a refund. I've never been contacted when I've been given a small refund for a fee/tax reduction.

We received around $75 last March. I'm hoping to see something this time, but we sail on 10/20. Not sure if it would have already come over?
