For fear of looking foolish on the cruise line board, thought I'll ask my fellow Canadians some questions.

We are thinking of doing a 3 day cruise. What do I need to know. Besides the fares and tips, how much do excursions cost? Do you need to do the excursions? We are not very adventurouse, but shopping is right down our alley:lmao: We prefer to fly out of Buffalo. What about transportation to WDW? Is this going to cost an arm and and a leg?? Should I just forget about it??

Hey!

The DCL cruises rock - we did the 4 day Bahamas and the 7 day Western - we are going to do the 3 day in March 2010 as well.

The tips are not included so you have to budget extra for those...there was a website that I went to figure that out, will try to post that for you.

on the bahamas cruises, you dont need excursions there is a lot to do in Nassau when you just walk off the ship, esp. if you want to shop. On Castaway Cay (which is so cool) there is a ton to do and you don`t have to pay much to do it - i.e. snorkelling equipment, bikes, floats, etc

Flying out of BUF or Detroit is the way to go and we usually do this and I would highly recommend renting a car from the airport so you can just get where you need to be without worrying about buses, etc.

Hope this helps - hope you decide to cruise....

Definately do it:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

DCL rocks, you will have the time of your life. For a 3 day I'd recommend just enjoying the ship and Castaway Cay as much as you can. Get off in Nassua, shop for a few hours and go back and enjoy all the ship activities.

Book it, you will never regret it. We have done 2, booked 2 more and about to book the fifth.

Realfam,
We are booked on our first DCL cruise for March break - Magic Eastern. Any tips on excursions there? So many posters have suggested the beaches are too crowded, and just stay on board. Your thoughts?

You will LOVE it!! DCL is pretty pricey..you could always cruise w/another line? But there's no doubt..it is the best vacation bang for your buck!:thumbsup2

You hit the nail on the head - we have done 2, have 3 more booked - so we are at 5 too - it is so much fun and I love being at sea.

So are we! It will be our first cruise (DD will be nearly 3 and DS 6). We are on the March 11th 3-day... what one are you on? :wizard:

We are on the March 3rd one! My daughter is 6 - you will have a blast. Make sure you stay up for the fireworks at sea on the pirate night - it is great.

I can't imagine doing less than 4 days.

I did the four nights in 2000 on the Wonder and didn't want to get off. It was part of the land/sea pkg. We added a few days onto the land portion which was before the cruise.

There is a lot to keep you busy on board. I would love to do another cruise. I did mention it to my sisters-we are supose to do a 7 night in 4 years. That way both my sister's kids will be old enough for the kid's clubs.

We wanted to do a longer cruise (the 7 day Western) but the dates did not line up well with the Princess 1/2. So we are doing 6 nights in WDW with a split stay between POR (for the marathon) and AKL.

We are hoping to book the 7 night Mexican cruise for next March break, but the dates for 2011 March Break are not out yet and we will need to coordinate with likely fight times and returning to school NOT directly from a red-eye! :rotfl2:

We really want to go on a cruise. I have looked at the Dream and it looks lovely. The points on the Dream (DVC points) seem less as well. Not sure if it goes up later or not, but I think we will be sailing in 2011:cool1:

You will not regret going on a Disney cruise. We have done four in the last 2 1/2 years with another 2 booked. We plan to book another when we are on-board this March.
Read everything on the cruise boards and then when you book, look for your DIS Meet thread. You will meet up with fantastic people that are new like you and some experieinced cruisers. Ask away and someone will know the answer. The only dumb question is the question not asked.
:thumbsup2

We did our first cruise this summer, and loved it...with 4 kids there was always something for everyone to do...we really only spent a bit of extra $, tips of course, we got the girls hair braided, I think it was $2 a braid, and a few pics (which I had budgeted for prior), thats about it. Also, because it was our first, we only got off at CC, we enjoyed the empty ship at Nassau.
