DCL pins

A co-worker is taking a DCL cruise October 21-25, and has graciously agreed to buy some DCL pins for me. The catch -- I know nothing about DCL pins and she knows nothing about pins.
So -- what basics do I need to know? How much do they generally cost? Are they sold on ship, in only one location? Do they have new pins every day, or just whenever? Will she be able to buy a Halloween related DCL pin, or will this be just special event pins that would involve her having to go and do something special? I want to make this as hassle free as possible. Her trip will seem to go fast enough already and I don't know her THAT well.

DCL Pins are available at Treasure Ketch. Most of the ones I got were $8.50 some less, some more. The light up pin was $15. The Helmsmen Mickey is only available the first and last night at the pin trading station outside Lumiere's. Castaway Cay pins are only available on Castaway Cay at the She Sells. . . .shop.

They do have holiday pins if you are there on the holiday. My CM pin trader buddy on the ship said that they go very quickly.

My fav's were the Disney Dreams show pin with Tink and the Animators Palate pin that changes color if you rub it.

No matter how many days you have the cruise is over way too fast.

The shops on the ship (say that 3 times fast!) are only open when the ship is at sea and there is no tax!! There are 2 main shops and when we were on the Wonder in May, Mickey's Mates had the majority of pins for sale (this may have changed since then or may be different on the Magic). Either way, the 2 shops are right across from each other and are open the same hours so it's easy to check both for pins. They are not large shops.

I've found that the Fresh Catch Dangle and the Castaway Cay Airplane pins make excellent traders. Denise is right - Disney Dreams is a hit with cruisers and non-cruisers alike.
