DCL onboard credits?

I just received our shore excursions and DCL gifts brochure in the mail yesterday. In the gift brochure it says that you can purchase onboard credits in $25 denominations. I was wondering if anyone has purchased these credits and if you have how do they work?

Works just like regular onboard credits. Basically it's a pre-cruise credit to your onboard account. At the end of the cruise, when they tally up your bill, they just take the credit off the top.

The pre-cruise purchases enable other people to gift these credits to you for your trip. I'd personally rather have credits to offset my spa/drink/excursion bill than a gift basket or whatnot (although I sure wouldn't turn that down!).

We booked through DU. So far we have put $850 on our stateroom. It was easy through DU. We just went online and logged in under our reservation, they have a place for making online payments. We put it under OTHER type payment with a note for STATEROOM CREDIT. It took less than a minute and we got e-mail confirmations later that same day. I know if you didn't book through DU this doesn't help much but for anyone who did I highly recommend doing this. We would just send anywhere from $25 to $100 at a time whenever we had extra money on paydays. Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies. They really helped. Now I have to decide how much to send in,my son's have informed me they'll be spending time in the arcade.
If you don't use all of the credit by the end of the cruise how is it returned?
